Hotel Romantic di Shanxi, China

Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. Datong Wangfu Zhizun Hotel definitely deserves five stars! The location is superb, close to the ancient city and convenient for getting around. The room was super spacious, clean, tidy, and the bedding was comfortable. The service was warm and attentive, and the front desk was efficient. The breakfast was plentiful, with local specialties like lamb offal soup and knife-cut noodles. Free underground parking was also very convenient. Overall, it offers great value for money. This is my top choice when visiting Datong!

This hotel is nestled inside the southern gate of Mount Wutai Scenic Area, surrounded by serene mountains and a meditative atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of Taihuai Town. The guest rooms are spacious, and the balconies offer direct mountain views. It boasts excellent facilities including a heated swimming pool and a gym. There's a complimentary shuttle bus service daily to and from the core ancient temples, and self-driving is convenient with ample parking. Breakfast offers a wide variety of choices, including local delicacies like Shanxi knife-cut noodles. The only minor drawback is that it's about a 15-minute drive from the main prayer area, and some interior furnishings show slight signs of age. Overall, it's a tranquil and healing place with attentive service, making it a top-notch choice for a restful stay and peaceful pilgrimage in the mountains.

This charming courtyard house has an old-world charm that my family absolutely loved. The owner's homemade breakfast was light and delicious, and the whole experience was very comfortable. The owners were incredibly welcoming and warm. My kids had such a great time playing with their twins that they didn't want to leave! Wishing the owners and their family a happy new year in advance!

What made this stay stand out the most was the feeling of living an authentic experience in this ancient city. Walking through the nearby streets and returning to the hotel each evening felt like stepping back in time, allowing me to fully appreciate the culture and character of the place. The overall atmosphere was charming and relaxing, making the stay not just comfortable but also culturally enriching. It was more than just accommodation — it felt like a genuine way to experience the true spirit of the city. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable stay in a historic setting.

The room is fully equipped, with a well-organized, spacious, and airy layout. The mattress and pillows are soft and conform to your body, providing an excellent resting experience. The bathroom is clean and refreshing with a dry/wet separation, and practical amenities like lighting and charging points are all readily available. The thoughtful details ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.

This hotel is like a heavenly palace! And since it's the former Ming and Qing Imperial Examination Hall, it's definitely an experience worth having. We also had incredibly good luck on our trip! The Shanxi Restaurant usually only gives out 40 numbers per day for individual guests. We checked in after 7 PM, and the front desk staff was quite certain we wouldn't be able to eat there that day. We went over with the intention of just asking how to get a number for the next day, but as soon as we arrived, we were told they had added 10 extra numbers for that evening, and we got the very first one! We were led to our table within minutes! So happy!!! The staff giving out the numbers and the servers were all incredibly gentle and friendly. Shanxi Restaurant even put up a picture at the entrance, which made me like them even more!

The hotel is beautiful, specially the patios. The location is just 10 minutas walking from the North Gate of the wall. In reception they do not speak English, but they were very helpful with the translator. However, if you really need to rest, this hotel is not made for you. At 7am there were already families and kids shouting and playing in the patio. Even with taps, it was too noisy to keep sleeping. The hotel is also offering folkloric dressing and photos shoots, so you might find people take pictures in front of your room anytime, also at night with flashes

This five-star hotel truly excels in every detail. They thoughtfully provided books, toys, and toiletries (from the 'Frog' brand, with a complimentary vintage toy!) for our child, making their stay perfectly comfortable. We stayed on the 33rd floor, offering a panoramic view of Yingze Park – truly a 'cloud-level' experience. The breakfast spread was incredibly diverse, and the hotel's location is super convenient for transportation. Plus, there's a private gate directly to Yingze Park, which was an added bonus as we walked there every day.

I specially rushed to travel during the off-peak period after the Spring Festival to take the dog out for fun. After booking the room, I added WeChat with the landlady. She thoughtfully sent us the navigation location and a long route to get there. She also helped us book a drama to see Pingyao again. We called her the day before departure. I also contacted the hotel. I felt it was very reliable before going. They arranged to pick us up on the day. Because we were not familiar with it, we needed someone to guide us. However, the location of the inn is very close to the navigation gate and it is very dog-friendly! Very considerate. You can adjust the temperature of the central air conditioner in the room. It is hygienic and clean. The location of the accommodation is very close to South Street and relatively quiet. Because there are not many guests traveling during off-peak hours, we were upgraded to a room type for free. We got a sticker and drew the location. , independent wifi in the room, free access to mineral water, the store staff is really nice! The dog friends who recommended it to me hope that they will all come and check in with their dogs, haha! Almost everything I asked for was answered. Before I left, I said that there was really no need to send us away. It was very close, but the boss lady still asked us to send us away in the scenic spot car. I hope the business is prosperous and the store is caring!
