This hotel has an exceptional location in the heart of Charleroi. It adjoins a major downtown shopping mall with international brands and standard fast food options including Burger King. My room had amazing view of the central plaza including the church. There is an excellent range of restaurants nearby and a small selection of convenience stores. However, there was are no large supermarket in this area, and getting access to pharmacies was difficult at night. The reception area has lively bar on level 2 and there is outdoor areas with seating and umbrellas for the summer period. During this visit in August, there was some live music in the streets nearby which added to the town atmosphere, but this city is not Brussels, as visitors should lower expectations regarding night life options. It about a 10 min walks to the Central Station and express buses to the airport. (Charleroi low cost airport) Note: The railway stations area is under construction, some care may be required with luggage.

The first thing to say is - I'm not usually a Youth Hostel person so I'll give the Auberge de Jeunesse lots of credit here. Met by friendly receptionist who was helpful in telling me all the important information including the shuttle bus back to Charleroi Airport. The room I got was a ”Basic Single Room” - which was just a 2 bed dorm with Single occupancy. It did exactly what it said on the tin - it had a bed, toilet, shower, sink, plugs and table/chairs - just what was needed for an overnight stay. The bed was comfortable despite having to do the pillowcase/bed sheets/duvet cover myself, but I guess that's a hostel thing! The one downside to my stay was the amount of noise from outside my room - which I believe was next to a shared area. Constant banging, whistling and cheering until about 12.30am led to not much sleep being had until then - luckily my flight home was in the afternoon, it would be awful if you had an early connection! Breakfast was offered and was a good continental offering, some hot food would have been nice but the breakfast I had was more than acceptable. For a grand total of €37 including breakfast, this place is extremely good value for money, but expect noise before you go to sleep! I would return if I was coming back to Charleroi.

Quick to get to from the airport. It is quite difficult to walk as we found out - there is no exit where Citymapper app sends you so don’t follow it. You can get the A3 bus but it is €6pp so if you’re going to the airport from the hotel the taxi is €10 and they pre book for you. We were lucky it was late and the driver just let us on.

I have stayed here twice before but in twin rooms. They were super. This time it was a double and I found it crazy that the bed was in a corner where one person was up against the wall and had to crawl in from the foot of the bed. The bathroom area had a bad smell but which did not penetrate into the main room. Unfortunately the guest next door were loud and we didn't sleep well.

Nice hotel. As you are used to from Van der Valk Hotels. Unfortunately there was heavy construction work which had a negative impact on the stay. However, the employees tried very hard to make the guests as pleasant as possible. They did a great job!

Siamo stati in questa struttura attirati dal fatto che viene dichiarato si trovi a 300 metri dall'aeroporto di Charleroi..purtroppo i 300 metri si sono rivelati qualche km ..circa 3 e mezzo...quindi e necessario utilizzare servizio navetta taxi o eventualmente avere un mezzo proprio per il quale almeno c'è un parcheggio gratuito. Detto questo gentilissimo il personale, carina la struttura ma ovviamente come ”appoggio”per la strada da e per l'aeroporto senza troppe aspettative.

Accueil vélo. Nos bicyclettes sont placées dans le garage surveillé et fermé. Prise de recharge disponible. La chambre pour 6 personnes est au dernier étage. Pas d’ascenseur. On fait son lit soi-même. Ne pas oublier linges de douche et produits de soin. Proche de la grand-place. Magasins et commerçants à proximité. Nous prendrons l’apéro face à l’hôtel de ville en travaux. Restaurant du soir “La vache à carreaux “. Après une nuit difficile, car il fait caniculaire et que les chambres ne disposent pas de climatisation, direction Petit-Dejeunet buffet. Rien de spécial. Le café machine est bon. Le reste est malheureusement “industriel”. Dommage. Cet endroit est très bien pour 1 ou 2 nuits si vous voulez découvrir Mons, ses monuments et ses musées. L’idéal pour des jeunes ou moins jeunes au budget serré.
