I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly.
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the train station, which made getting around very convenient. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, with good quality and variety.
The highlight for me was the hotel view — absolutely beautiful and very relaxing. Overall, the stay exceeded my expectations and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!!!!💕💕💕🎀🇯🇵🙌🏽
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan. The facilities are clean, and the bathtub space is sufficient, all of which make guests feel comfortable.
Ryokusuitei’s environment, service, and facilities were excellent. Our pre-stored luggage was promptly delivered to the room.
The private bath room included breakfast, which was delicious with many options, plus a small stove to grill seafood yourself. While the private bath isn’t completely secluded—people in a building across, though quite far away, can see in—the stunning view of Lake Biwa more than makes up for it.
The large public bath is open nearly 24 hours, featuring a relaxing lounge area afterward, free ice cream, and complimentary coffee in the lobby during the day.
Upon check-in, we received shopping discount coupons that could be used to purchase small towels, scented balms, and storage bags.
The American atmosphere spread across the whole hotel with the help of design. It was quite classic. The room setting is a bit too liberal. The bathroom and toilet are in see-through form. The hotel, by the way, is conveniently located by the train station and the discounted parkings are right next to the hotel .
The location of the hotel is fantastic, right in front of the lake with breathtaking views. The room was spacious and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The hotel is very bike-friendly and the staff were incredibly helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a short stay.
The Japanese breakfast was good, but it was a little on the boring side. It could benefit from a bit more variety to make it more interesting.
Highly recommended hotel. Staff were very friendly and did their best to make us feel welcome. The room was spacious and the open air onsen was gorgeous. Meals were well presented and very filling. I would definitely return if given the opportunity.
I was thoroughly impressed by the hotel's onsen, which offered a truly relaxing experience. The only downside is its somewhat remote location, making it a bit far from other attractions. However, this is compensated by the superb view from the room, which provides a breathtaking and serene backdrop.
Place was extremely convenient, next to Hikone station and walking distance from almost all of Hikone's attractions (Castle, food street etc.) To enjoy Lake Biwa, you can get a rental cycle for free, you just need to check with the concierge 😄 Other than that, the residents of Hikone were really friendly, even at non-touristy restaurants and izakayas. I had a great stay.
AAnonymous UserIt was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay.
The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time.
The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata!
The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub.
Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable!
Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat!
The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back.
Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserRoom was very good. Public onsen was ok; the water was not as hot and as original. Breakfast selection was ok, can be better and have more selection other than seafood. Dinner was superb! The only thing was lacking is the location. There was nothing else around the hotel. 2 day stay was more than enough. There were no other facilities or events than onsen bath, foot/hand bath, happy hours.
PPingxinjiejieThe Western-style room was spacious, with a large, comfortable bed. The onsen (hot springs) were excellent, with several to choose from, and the area wasn't crowded. The water was excellent, leaving my skin feeling smooth and refreshed. The hotel requires a meal plan; adding dinner upon arrival costs 10,000 yen per person. There are few restaurants nearby, but there's a yakiniku restaurant with excellent beef.
GGuest UserFacilities: The room size is quite spacious, with a separate bedroom and dining area. There are also two restrooms, and outside is a private hot spring tub. Overall, the facilities are well-maintained.
Cleanliness: Acceptable.
Environment: Very good. You can see Lake Biwa right from the room. And you absolutely must try the large communal hot spring bath. Especially in winter or on a rainy day, when it's raining or snowing outside and you're soaking in the super warm hot spring – it's incredibly comfortable, truly indescribable.
Service: After exiting the JR station, if you call the hotel, a car will come to pick you up. However, that phone is really well-hidden; it took us a while to find it. The drive to the hotel takes about 10 minutes. The staff's service attitude is very good. They also escort you to your room and thoroughly explain each feature and how to use it. Check-out is at 10 AM, but most hot spring ryokans in Japan have this check-out time.
Dining: We booked the two-meal plan, breakfast and dinner. The variety was quite rich, and the taste was decent, within expectations. Overall, the dining service was pretty good. Room service is also available; the latest you can order late-night snacks is 9:30 PM. Room service food is absolutely delicious! And it's not expensive at all, the prices are the same as outside.
Overall, our stay at this hot spring ryokan was very comfortable. For those who can, I recommend staying two nights. On the second day, you can explore Biwako Valley, which is quite close to the hotel. It definitely won't disappoint (provided the weather is good; if the weather's bad, don't go).
CcreditmanLocation: Right on Lake Biwa, almost all rooms offer lake views, providing a first-class scenic experience. It's lovely to walk around the vicinity, and there's a unique cafe and small shops nearby.
Service: The shuttle bus to the station runs every 30 minutes, which is very convenient. The front desk service was a bit average, lacking smiles.
Facilities: The Prince Hotel chain is generally reliable. The triple room was very comfortable. The buffet restaurant on the top floor has fantastic views. While the snow crab at the buffet was of average quality, the other dishes were good, making it convenient not to have to go out.
GGuest UserI stayed here on a solo trip. Perhaps because I stayed on a weekday, there were few other guests, so I was able to use the shower and sink smoothly without having to wait. Every area was clean and the amenities were plentiful, which was nice.
The male staff member was very polite.
The only thing I found inconvenient was that the lockers were small. There is a place to store large luggage in the shared space, but I wish the lockers and locker space were larger so I could organize my luggage.
SSebastianCorreaThe location of the hotel is fantastic, right in front of the lake with breathtaking views. The room was spacious and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. GGuest UserI used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night this time and didn't get to fully enjoy the hotel's facilities. Plus, the staff were incredibly service-oriented. We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at Otsu Station was the pick-up point, and the driver kindly took our luggage and explained that the pick-up was across the street, without being rigid about making us go there. When we arrived at the hotel, the concierge immediately took our luggage, and by the time we checked in, our bags were already in the room. My daughter went to buy something from a vending machine and met a staff member who bowed 90 degrees to her; she came back telling me how polite they were... Even though it was only one night, it was the most beautiful memory of my Kansai trip.
ししょうちゃん0501The front desk is located on the second floor of the Lawson convenience store in the west exit rotary, right next to Kusatsu Station. The three staff members at the small front desk were efficient and helpful. The contracted parking lot is in the building immediately to the left as you enter the rotary, and the signs were easy to find. The overnight parking fee of 500 yen was a welcome bonus. The amenities were also of high quality. The water, tea, and snacks in the refrigerator were all free, which was a nice touch.
GGuest UserVery good location, close to Shiga station. Many eateries nearby. Walking distance to Hikone castle. Friendly staff with good English. The only downfall is that the layout of the room is rather cramped, so if you have more than 1 big luggage it might be a bit difficult to pack and unpack.
