Great location. From our room we could actually see the island of Sakurajima. Concurrent location to drive around the city. There are plenty of carparks around the hotel and also within it's own carpark. The front desk esp, Mr Tanimura, who checked us in when we arrived late. He was most helpful n friendly. Her made us feel very welcomed with his warm & friendly personality. Also, the ferry terminal is just next to the hotel. From our balcony we could actually see loading & unloading of the ferries.

The bus stop is just a 3-minute walk away, and the hotel is relatively new, located in a commercial area, making dining and shopping very convenient. The bathroom has a three-part design, but the room size is a bit small, making it difficult to open a 27-inch suitcase. The toiletries provided were not very comprehensive, good thing I brought my own. The air conditioning blowing directly onto the bed was also a minor issue.

I was extremely satisfied with my stay at JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima! The absolute highlight was its incredible convenience – the hotel is directly located inside Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It truly lives up to 'step off the train, step into the hotel,' making it super easy to access the Shinkansen, city trams, or the airport bus. This was particularly great for someone like me with a tight schedule. Even better, the hotel seamlessly connects to AMU PLAZA Kagoshima, which is right above the station. Shopping, dining, and drugstores are all there, making it incredibly easy to grab dinner and souvenirs without having to venture out into the sun or rain. It was a completely hassle-free, one-stop experience. Despite being in the heart of a transportation hub, the soundproofing in the room was surprisingly good. Once the door was closed, I could barely hear any noise from the station or the mall, making for a very quiet night's rest. While the room facilities weren't brand new, they were clean, tidy, and fully functional, with everything I needed, making for a very comfortable stay. Overall, this is a highly recommended hotel that perfectly balances convenience and practicality with great value for money. I strongly suggest it to anyone traveling independently to Kagoshima!

A new hotel with excellent location. It’s just next to the shopping streets with lots of restaurants & souvenir shops. Got amenities such as bath salt, tea bags, drip coffee & cleansing oil/ lotion at hotel lobby for you to pick up. The restaurant where you take breakfast commands a stunning panoramic view. Will stay here again.

We booked Mountain View room and it was superb . The hotel has a shuttle bus service to Kagoshima chuo station . I front of hotel there is also direct tram station which connect you to bus that go around Kagoshima city , I just need a day pass swhich can be bought from The concierge.

I like this hotel. I've stayed here for 2 times. They provide a free transfer from and to Railway station and a city centre. Very good onsen with a scenic view on Sakurajima. You can also rent a bike here in the hotel for a reasonable price. Convenience store is right by the hotel.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, nestled close to Shiroyama Park in a tranquil setting. The highlight is undoubtedly the rooftop onsen, offering direct views of Sakurajima—soaking in the hot spring while admiring the majestic volcano is an unforgettable experience. Breakfast offers a wide variety, and the service is meticulous and attentive. Whether for sightseeing or business trips, this hotel is a convenient and iconic top-tier choice in Kagoshima city.

It's very clean, and the bedding and toiletries are brand new. On the first floor, the lobby offers a variety of DHC cleansers, toners, and makeup removers, so if you're not too picky, you don't even need to bring any toiletries. It's right next to the Tenmonkan shopping district, which is very convenient, and the 'Woa Ren' restaurant there is delicious. I'll definitely go back again; I really enjoyed the food in Kagoshima, and if I return, I'll stay at this hotel again.

The views of the bay and the volcano are absolutely stunning, 'picturesque' doesn't even begin to cover it! My room type was a garden view twin, so I couldn't see the volcano or the sea. It was all about value for money, at around 600-700 RMB per night. The room was spacious enough (by Japanese standards), and the luggage rack could fit two medium-sized suitcases. The bathroom was also quite large. If you want to see the volcano, you can head to the courtyard or walk five minutes to the Shiroyama Observatory. You can soak in the large hot spring bath while looking at the volcano, but we only took a quick look around the baths and didn't really try them out, so I can't comment much. The hotel shuttle bus runs every half hour, which is pretty convenient. The city view bus stop is near the Shiroyama Observatory. Just ask the receptionist at the hotel lobby on the 4th floor how to get to the observatory; we turned left then right and it was a five-minute walk. By the way, the city view bus route is a bit winding and there aren't many buses. It's better to take the JR to Sengan-en. The JR has a stop right at the entrance of Sengan-en, and the platform itself is the best spot to view Sakurajima.

The room is genuinely cozy, sparkling clean, and feels like a new apartment. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from Tenmonkan. The street downstairs is lined with nightclubs, so it's probably best not to return too late. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs and a local supermarket diagonally opposite, offering all sorts of fresh meat and vegetables. It was perfect for us to buy ingredients and use the room's kitchenware for a satisfying yakiniku or shabu-shabu meal. The local wagyu and kurobuta pork were incredibly fragrant and absolutely delicious! Check-in and check-out are fully self-service, which has its pros and cons. The advantage is the peace, quiet, and freedom it offers. However, the downside is that if it's raining and you need help calling a taxi, there's no staff member available to assist you. A taxi ride to Kagoshima-Chuo Station costs about 1000 yen. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the opportunity.
