The hotel is great for a layover as it is super close to the airport. They have a shuttle which was a great help for me. I really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner as I missed SA food. Most of the staff was really helpful (especially Lily from the kitchen) she went above and beyond to help me cause I was with a baby. She made sure I was comfortable, had my food while she was holding my baby. I really appreciate that, thank you 🙏 . I also observed her around other customers she kept the same energy. My room was cleaned daily which was nice. My suggestion is some stuff member must give the same service to everyone regardless of who they are and how they look.

The washing machine was out of order, tripping the circuit breaker the moment it was switched on. The shower didn't drain properly. Cleanliness was also mediocre; there was a cardboard box left behind by the previous guest, and even minor details were dusty. The gym equipment was broken and left unrepaired.

For the price the place is okay decent enough however the staff is really loud at night . Not the reception but the team doing maintenance at night they really inconsiderate . I wouldn’t book the Melrose ever again because of that . I’ve tried the one in Sandton Katherine street I really enjoyed it .

It was our first time in joburg and it was lovely. The hotel was always clean. The food was great. Aside the breakfast which had a lot of variety, we also got to try some local dishes recommended by staff at the restaurant. The room was small but it was sufficient, as we were mostly busy sightseeing.

The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient, just a short distance from the airport, making it perfect for a quick stopover or if you’re catching a flight. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The pool area was a highlight,beautifully maintained with a relaxing atmosphere, ideal for unwinding after a long day of travel. And the food? Absolutely amazing! From breakfast to dinner, every meal was delicious, with a great variety of options. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for both business travelers and those just passing through Johannesburg. Highly recommend!

It's the first time I've been here. The breakfast is OK, but the room is small and the view outside the first floor window is poor. The price/performance ratio is pretty decent. You can order takeout via Uber.

The hotel smelled so good right from the entrance. The staff were very professional, kind and helpful. The shuttle driver David was extremely kind. He walked me to Nelson Mandela square and showed me also how to get back to the pick up area. He addressed me as “madam”. The check in was easy peasey. The young lady at check in was so helpful and kind. The concierge was beyond helpful too. The young man I forgot his name was so welcoming. Showed me how the elevator works. The restaurant staff especially the guys in the kitchen who cooked my eggs were very understanding and kind. Everyone I met at the hotel left a lasting impression on me. I recently stayed for a couple of nights, and overall, it was an average experience. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly, which I appreciated. However, the room itself could have been a bit more updated. While it was clean, the furnishings seemed a little worn, and the bathroom, although functional, had some minor issues like a leaky faucet. The bed was comfortable enough, but I did find it a bit harder than I prefer. The hotel amenities were standard—there was a gym and a small pool, though I didn't have time to use either. The Wi-Fi worked fine, and I didn't encounter any issues with the air conditioning or heating during my stay. One thing that stood out was the location. It was pretty convenient for my needs, close to a few restaurants and shops, though not overly special. I was hoping for a bit more from the hotel's restaurant, as the menu was somewhat limited and the food was just okay. In short, it wasn’t a bad stay, but it didn’t blow me away either. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep without expecting anything extraordinary, this hotel will do the job.

The overall experience is very good. The service staff here is also very good. The environment, hygiene, accommodation and meals are all very good. It is worth staying here. HLOGI and HAPPY are all very nice. I look forward to staying here next time.
