Hotel environment is dark themed and calm, however during our time there, hotel was probably full house and the hk tour groups were so loud and rowdy, the service staff werent able to get them to lower their voices and commotion in the front desk nor at breakfast too. It was otherwise a very clean, and efficiently laid out room, good hotel option and at a convenient location too.

A Hidden Gem Near Kumamoto Station The rooms are cozy and well-designed, offering stunning views that really add to the experience. One of the highlights is the hot spring, which features both indoor and outdoor areas, letting you unwind while enjoying beautiful scenery. There’s also a separate space dedicated to enjoying foot baths, which adds a nice touch to the relaxation. Conveniently located, the hotel is connected to a department store with a variety of restaurants and shops. Don’t miss the bakery downstairs—their croissants and bread are freshly baked, crispy, and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely revisit this hidden gem. Highly recommended!

Booked 2 rooms for 1 night, with breakfast included. The staff were friendly with nice service. Check in and check out process were quick with no problem. They don’t have a car park but I did find a parking instruction from someone else’s comment. You can ask for the staff for a parking coupon for cheaper price. Overall, this is a hotel that I’d recommend.

A very nice, modern hotel in the heart of the Kumamoto shopping district - very convenient location, right at the cross section of the two major covered shopping thoroughfares. Check-in only at 3pm and is an automated check-in/check-out system. Staff are very helpful and friendly. At check-in, you are free to choose your amenities from a very wide selection, including bath salts, face cleanser, moisturizer, coffee, green tea, etc. There is a giant tv in the room. No bottled water is provided. The room offers a full robe (short yukata and pants!). The rooms itself are very modern and renovated. There are two Family Marts and a 7-11 within a block of the hotel, as well as many dining and retail options within short walking distance. It is about a 15 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle and a 30 minute walk to Kumamoto Station.

It was a awesome stay at Koko Hotel Premier Kumamoto. We parked our car at the multi story parking building opposite and just walk over with our lugguage. As I have already read some reviews in advance, we have no problem finding the hotel but I must say the sign board is a little not eye catching and can easily miss it. (can see my photo below). Everything is comfortable there and I just have to make space for my luggage opening which is not much of an issue. The location is so convenient and can easily walk over to the shopping area for our dinner with many choices. We enjoyed our stay and there is also drinks vending machine on the level we stayed. Will definitely recommend it for it super convenient location :) btw is near to the Kumamoto castle too!

However I wish to update new travellers about what to expect when staying in this hotel, you will get to see a tower parking just beside the hotel, that parking is sort of affiliated to the hotel hence you can park there and pay just a fixed rate. At my time of stay at Nov2024 period it was about 1200JPY per 24hours. You can park anytime and take the car out anytime to drive out based on what we have experienced. There are lots of food places nearby Take note that you are in the heart of Kumamoto city and when checking out and driving out of the city, our issue was there were too many cars and the Google maps is not responding well perhaps due to the tall buildings. Took a long way out before we reached the Kyushu highway. Hence do familiar yourself with the routes when leaving. Hotel is great! I been a fan of candeo hotels, love the fact that we can go to the onsen late at night too

Although this hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, we would say it is much better than many 4-star hotels in many regards. The employees at the check-in desk speak decent English too.

This hotel is located within a short walking distance from the Kumamoto station. From the JR bstation exit it is on the left, just beside the Bic Camera store next. There is also a streetcar/tram stop so near the hotel which you can use to explore the city touristy spots! Shopping is convenient as the Kumamoto AMU Plaza (see another Review) is 5-mins walk away. The lobby is quite spacious and I quite like the intimate setting and lighting. Check-in was fast and 3 lifts serve well with travellers + luggages. The room design is quite standard and we have requested for x2 single bed, the room size is respectable. Noted that they're still using the physical hard key and not the keycard type. Hottel provided some amenities and complimentary bottled water in the room, sufficient for us . The Hotel is very into Going Green, there will be no housekeeping within first 3-days unless requested upon. This may likely be the model moving forward, to cut wastages. We had our breakfast at the nearby Pronto. The Kitaoka Shrine is just about 400 metres nearby, opposite direction of JR station so we recommend to drop by if time permits. A good stay experience. J

Good location, 2 minute walk to Sakuramachi Bus Station for long distance bus or city bus and also near tram station for city roaming. The kumamoto is easily accessed with a 10 minute walk. The room size and amenities are standard and clean.

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

Most important thing to know about this hotel is that THERE IS NO BATHROOM IN THE ROOMS!! IF you do not intend to shower / bathe in the public bath, then you will have to have a simple wipe down and the only thing in the room is a toilet bowl (with bidet). The location is pretty remote but because of the remote location you have a great view. All rooms facing the back of the hotel get a great view of the mountains behind. Parking is free! After going to the Onsen, you get free Ramen as well and the ramen changes daily. I noticed there were many Japanese families having a great time in the hotel when I was there. It is also equiped with a karaoke room, ping pong tables, massage chairs. If you are not comfortable going to public baths, please find another property.

L’équipe, professionnelle et serviable, distille d’excellentes recommandations. Cependant, il est sage de vérifier la disponibilité des restaurants suggérés, surtout en soirée à Aso, une ville parfois limitée en options. Ce qui distingue cet hôtel est son rapport qualité/prix correct (environ 14kyens la nuit), même pendant les périodes de forte demande comme les fêtes de fin d’année. Pour une expérience pratique et agréable à Aso, l’hôtel Marriott est une option.

各サイトで低評価の口コミが多かった為、期待感はほぼ無くチェックイン。 一部客室やフロントが改装中の館内のエレベーターには木枠の保護があり、期待感がますます萎む印象を与えました。 しかし、友人が一泊目を懐石料理の夕食付で予約してくれていた事が、そう言ったネガティブな印象を覆すきっかけとなりました。 それは、お料理の内容の素晴らしさもさることながら、担当した男性スタッフ(ホール支配人？)の接客が大変心地よいものだったからに他なりません。 郷土の美味しいお料理を食べてほしいとの強い思いを感じました。 丁寧に説明もして頂きました。 馬刺し二種の盛り合わせでは、珍しい部位であるタテガミに、生の芋茎を初体験。 天草の真鯛のお刺身、とうもろこしの茶碗蒸し、あか牛のすき焼き、石垣かぼちゃ、高菜飯茶漬け、阿蘇ミルクプリン等、どれも大変美味しかったです。 こちらの希望を聞いたうえでの地酒二種の選択も素晴らしく、普段は飲まない量を消費した程です。 お勧めの観光地として阿蘇神社とその周辺、そして馬肉を使ったコロッケ「馬ロッケ」を教えて貰い、滞在最終日にスナックとして食べた事は楽しい思い出の一つとなりました。 わざわざ資料を印刷して提供して頂いたのも有り難かったです。 バス６台の団体客は皆さんバイキングの夕食利用だった様で、懐石料理会場は私たちのみの貸し切り状態だった事もあり、あまりの居心地の良さにすっかり長居してしまいました。 客室や廊下の匂いが気になる部分ではありますが、食事に関しては低評価は当てはまらないと言うのが私の感想です。

洋室の部屋は、ゴルフ場と、雄大な阿蘇外輪山を望む高原で、良い展望でした。部屋にはソファ、椅子とテーブル、セミダブルベッド2つで、快適でした。 実はゴルフリゾートの大浴場なので、お風呂はあまり期待してなかったのです。ところが、温泉は源泉掛け流しで、内風呂も、4つの露天風呂(含む樽風呂2)も全てが源泉掛け流しで、少し茶色の温泉でいい湯でした。11時チェックアウトなのにお風呂が朝9時までが少し残念でした。 食事はレストランにて、和洋ニ種類の前菜と、お作りと温鉢でした。後半は柔らかい熊本産牛とシーフードの陶板焼き、高菜ご飯と味噌汁、美味しいデザートで、夕食は良かったです。また食事係の方が親切で丁寧な接客でした。 朝食はゴルフリゾートのためか、ボリュームある朝食でした。 チェックアウト後に、ロビーのくまモンと写真を撮ろうとしていたら、スタッフの方が、阿蘇の外輪山の景色が良いところで撮れば良いですよと、大きなくまモンをカートで外まで運んでくれました。 おかげさまで、阿蘇の山々とくまモンと共に、素敵な家族写真を撮る事ができました。親切な心遣いが、とても嬉しかったです。

Overall, we had an amazing night here, with several onsen sessions, an amazing dinner experience, and a delicious (and very fulfilling) breakfast! We went for a night at Sozankyo in the FURUSATO room, which included a private onsen outdoors on the balcony. During the evening, we booked sessions for the two other private baths that were available, but we must say that the private bath in the room was definitely the best. In fact, when it started raining in the evening, the experience became even better as we could sit in the bath (under a roof) listening to the rain pouring down. The dinner experience (we went for the full course) was amazing, and the host was very kind and helpful. The dinner room had a great view of the garden outdoor, which added to the mood of the meal. When we checked out the next day, it rained so much that the train down to Kumamoto had been canceled... However, as we had to make our train from Kumamoto around noon, the staff helped us book a taxi. Outside the rainy season, departing is probably much easier! Would recommend this to everyone, however try to not go in the rainy season unless you can pay for a taxi!

The place is 5 minutes from Aso Station, very handy.... U have to take off shoes before entering and wear socks or slippers .. You can access the inside from 4pm on, there is a luggage deposit ouside in the meantime They do not offer meals but suggestions / maps / adresses for going elewhere nearby... there is an Onsen 5 min from the base and U can buy tickets at the reception , before 8 pm ..... I had a comfortable double room , bathrooms ( showers and WC, basins ) are shared The guest house is spotless and there is a nice kitchen and sitting room downstairs to share eventually with other guests... I had a good sleep and would go there again if I go back to Aso Volcano...

The hotel is a bit dated but clean. Most of the customers are Japanese locals. Dinner and breakfast are buffet style with a good selection of food. Very good value for the price. There are family baths available with no additional charges.

Like the onsen in the hotel; onsen water is good and big enough for 6-7 person to use. Japanese breakfast served by staff was quite substantial and tasty. The room that we stayed is quiet and faces mountain and park. Bathroom a little small but clean. There wasn’t any wardrobe but there were hooks on the wall and hangers were provided.

黒川温泉の中心地にり、近くにお土産屋、黒川地蔵尊あります。 古い建物のようですが、掃除も行き届いてとても清潔でした。 予約不要で利用できる家族風呂がたくさんあったため、その日は満室でしたが、幾つも入ることができました。 全てのお湯に入ろうと思ってましたが、お風呂多すぎて無理でした。 料理は赤牛の鎌焼きに馬刺にと大変ボリュームがあり、大満足しました。 そのほか、廊下には麦茶が用意されており、部屋にはコーヒーマシンも用意されており、自由に飲むことができました。 お部屋に置いてあった手作りのお菓子もとてもおいしかったです。 スタッフの方の対応もとても良く、また、価格もそこまで高くなく、全てに満足しました。また利用したいと思いました。

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. Free pick-up service from the bus stop. As we arrived before check-in time, the driver dropped us at the main street and showed us where to eat and how to walk back to ryokan. The ryokan kindly offered us early check-in. Luggages were in the room already when we arrived. Front desk staff explained everything clearly. We could only book the private onsen once. Private onsen number one is a bit small, and the water was not hot enough, but the view is pretty with a small garden and rock mountain. I love the large outdoor onsen (for hotel guests only). Water was hot. Beutiful environment and great atmosphere. Changing room was clean and spacious. The smaller outdoor onsen is for public. Room was a bit old and simple, but it came with a cute balcony which I didn't expect. Food was great. Dinner was served in room, and breakfast was served in breakfast room. Overall a great ryokan experience.

This is a typical traditional Ryokan, so the rooms do not come with showers, and some rooms come with ensuite WC (toilet, not bathroom). But good news for those who do not like getting naked in front of strangers in an onsen - you can reserve private onsen (family onsen) rooms (an hour only), where you can soak and bathe, in private and with your loved ones. But note, you need to reserve and they are not always available. Having said that, if you want the full-on Japanese Ryokan experience, you can do it here. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) package is not cheap at all, but you do get the sleep-on-futons, sliding Japanese doors in room, water garden view, tatami etc. experience, with dinner and breakfast cooked with seasonal ingredients. We did not really undersand our meal courses (dinner and breakfast), and they were not exactly sumptous (although you will have a full stomach at the end) and delectable. And we had a better experience earlier in another Ryokan some time back. But again, if this is going to be your first-time Ryokan experience, then go for it. I would recommend staying in a hotel if you have been there and done that with Ryokans.

We found a good deal on the web site, which included discounts for having proof of vaccines, plus coupons totaling ¥8,000. I think the coupons were part of the ”Go To Travel” campaign. These coupons could only be used in Oita prefecture, by the next day. The hotel has a grand, luxurious appearance and feel, but also feels dated. After check-in, we took the shuttle bus to the outside onsen (about 5 minutes away). This was included in the price (I am not sure if it is actually owned by the hotel. There is a fee for people who are not staying at the hotel). This onsen was glorious! All the baths are outside, surrounded by trees and nature. The only caveat is that there were many stairs going down to the onsen. I did not expect that at all, and it was not easy on my knees (no problem for my partner). The other onsen in the hotel (there were two) also involved walking (it is as large hotel), and some stairs too. The floors in the onsen seemed more slippery than I remember any other onsen I have visited before. Dinner was buffet style. Due to COVID restrictions, we had to get our temperature checked, and wear plastic gloves while serving ourselves (there was a box at the table, and a container for disposal of them). The seating was partitioned, and it was very comfortable. Even though it was a buffet, there were 3 choices for seating: 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, with a 90 minute limit. The food was good, but my partner had to stand in line at a station for freshly prepared meat for 30 minutes. Breakfast was served in the same place as dinner. We got a lower-priced deal, and our room was on the 1st floor. The hallway was a little dark compared to the other floors (which we had to access for the front desk/entrance to the hotel and to get to the dining area and the onsen). To me, there was a musty smell that my partner did not notice. The place is older, and it is right next to the river, and it was the middle of Japanese (humid) summer, and I assume not all the rooms are like this. There was a can of roach spray in the closet (which thankful we did not need!), and requests not to open the windows to prevent bugs from getting in the room. The sound and site of the river outside the window was wonderful. The beds (two twin beds) were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. It was my partner's 50th birthday, so we mentioned this to see if they had any thing special (even for an extra charge). They gave a card and a plastic rose (I think the rose was for the birthday), but said they did not have anything else. The water pot already had hot water in it when we arrived. I appreciate that. They also had the kind of coffee in which you open the single pack, put it over the cup (good size, not tiny like some places) and pour hot water on it (like a one cup drip coffee- not instant). I often travel with these types of coffee packs as a lot of hotels in Kyushu only have instant coffee or none at all in the rooms. The

We are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan. If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

攜程上找了好半天黑川温泉，因為訂的晚了，沒幾家有房間，這家性價看着還行 從博多巴士總站買了來回的票，單程3h坐過來，沿着坡下去，這家美里算離口子近的了 房間是和式的，床是單人普通床，整個酒店感覺挺衞生。 選擇了一宿二泊，晚餐早餐都偏日式，賞心悦目的，味道其實也還可以。能吃飽。 温泉分室內温泉和露天温泉，晚上泡了兩次露天的，是硫磺温泉。挺舒服 酒店斜對面有個便利店能買吃的，下去有個斜坡，有好些商店

Ryokan con onsen espectacular. La atención es inmejorable desde que te acercas al hotel con una persona en la entrada indicándote donde aparcar, recepción atentísima que te explican todo y te acompañan a la habitación, con servicio de té y dulces nada más llegar. Baños al aire libre preciosos. Cena y desayuno en comedor privado y mientras estás comiendo te preparan/recogen los futones y la habitación. Hermanado con otros ryokan para probar otros baños, pero sinceramente tiene los más agradables. En la despedida, te sorprenden con los zapatos que diste al llegar calentitos que se agradece en días fríos.

This is among one of the best ryokans that I have stayed in. It is in the middle of nowhere. We stayed there for two nights and the place makes you feel like you are in touch with nature. We have a raom with two double beds and the size was more than adequate Even a small tatami sitting area separate from the bedroom area. All modern conveniences are there with more than enough plugs and usb outlets. All the rooms are in separate cabins from each other with parking in front. We have our own onsen attached to the shower area. There is a public one within walking distance in the property. The dinner is outstanding. Since it is so isolated, don't bother to go elsewhere to look for restaurants. Just one word of warning, Do not try to find the place after dark even with GPS help. I will assure you that you will have tremendous difficulty and will miss the last turn to the property which is one mile in from a one lane road. My Toyota GPS cannot locate it. The google map does the job but they lead you through small one lane road just to save you a few kilometers.

Love this place and kurokawa onsen area. There’re 2 outdoors onsen separate for male and female, 2 public indoor for male and female and 6 private onsen. The whole building are lovely and clean. Service is amazing. Food is impressive. There is a beautiful river in the middle of 2 buildings, amazing scenery.
