I had never even been to Lincoln before when I booked a room here for the night of August 1st, 2022. The hotel is not easy to find, and by the time I did the sun had already set. Pulling into the dark parking lot, I was more than a little concerned about the people hanging out around some of the cars in the lot, playing loud music and hollering to one another. Not good. Upon walking into the lobby, a young man in dread locks and a dirty T-shirt approached from a back room. ”Checking in?” he asked. Yes, I told him, I had a reservation. So then he plops down a sheet of paper on the counter in front of me and says, ”Just sign here,” pointing, ”and I'll need a credit card for incidentals.” Please note that I had already used a debit card to reserve the room, so why would he need it again for 'incidentals'? I smelled a scam, but instead of pointing this out simply told him that I wouldn't be needing any incidentals. The sullen stare I got in return told me to get the hell outta there. ”Is it too late to cancel my reservation?” I asked. ”No, it's not too late,” the guy replied. ”Thank you,” I said, and immediately left. The next day I checked my bank statement and, sure enough, the guy had lied to me and gone ahead and charged me nearly $100 for the room. Repeated phone calls to the manager at the New Victorian went unanswered. Obviously the good reviews you see here and elsewhere are entirely bogus. Don't believe them like I did and steer clear of this place if you know what's good for you.

Check in was quick and easy. The room appeared clean. The bathtub was speckled with dark rusty spots. Bedding appeared white until the linens were pulled down and they were soiled. Popcorn in between the mattresses. Debris in dresser drawers, corners, behind the toilet. We were only given one set of towels. Had to ask for more towels (the reservation was for two adults), and they bought us one more towel. (No additional wash cloths or hand towels,) and weren't exceedingly friendly about it.. they have been remodeling for awhile now, but it doesn't take a lot of $ to clean and even less for adequate quality control attempts. .

This is a great hotel to stay. People are very friendly. I like the fact there is a restaurant on site so you don't have to leave once you get there. The rooms are spacious & cleans, towels are nice. Fridge w/freezer, microwave, & coffee maker in the room. The only (small) drawback is there is no plug in near the bed to charge my phone during the night - which is a very small drawback. However, the BIG plus is the breakfast. There was a huge selection of various items, but the thing is - most were home cooked!!! I never see that at hotels! The star of the show was the individual bread puddings. Strawberry, mango, peach, berry, apple - from what I heard from other travelers, all flavors were delicious!! I know the berry is the best thing I've every had for breakfast. The lady in charge there for breakfast is AWESOME!!! I have to go back soon & stay - just for breakfast!!!

I was booked here by my company for separate stays about a week in duration each time. This place is so consistently inconsistent I can’t even explain it. One room- no ironing board and the iron looked as if someone cooked a steak on it. I would have simply asked for the board but most of the FD staff really give off the impression that they just don’t want to be bothered. Next stay- had an ironing board but not a working fridge. Nightly trips to the ice machine was fun for a week. Lights in the bathroom kept going off- but if you tap it just right you’ll get about 10 minutes of light before it shorts out again. Walls near the tub are soft (or damaged terribly) from water. A few consistent things; there’s no exhaust vent in the bathroom so it’s a shower and room sauna combo. Not a big deal, but certainly annoying. Each of my three beds have sank so bad you wake wishing you had time to set a chiropractor appointment. First floor rooms smell like mold and mildew horribly. All the shower handles have been so lose you tread very carefully turning it on and off so it doesn’t fall right off. Same with the towel bar (wiggle, wiggle, whoops!) There are literally cameras everywhere and in some spots I’ve seen two (one right next to each other) not to mention the moving robot style one right above the desk when you check in. Not sure yet if these actually makes me feel safer - or more worried. The upside and plus-side is that the rooms (each one I’ve had) has been clean. The housekeeping crew is apparently dedicated so for that I’m thankful. Honestly, shame on Choice Hotels for this one. Things (yes, there’s more) have just been blatantly ignored, let go, added up and none of this was an instant overnight process. The bad news is - that becomes the guest’s problem. The fellow reviews are telling you the same… so just don’t. If I had a choice I wouldn’t have either.

This was a really nice place at a good price. The room was big and clean, with a nice bathroom and working windows, TV, fast internet, and a nice big refrigerator. The breakfast was everything you'd want of a self-serve buffet, with a great waffle maker and good fruit. The only disappointing thing was when we got there in the evening, the front lobby had a strange smell to it, almost like soured milk or a weird chemical. That was too bad because everything else was fantastic for the price.

Horrible service. Do not stay here. Very unkind front desk workers. Breakfast closes at 9am, but the information we were provided from the hotel through Booking.com was breakfast 5am-10am, so we came down at 9:12 am and they had cleaned it all up already. Even the next morning when we made it to breakfast the selection was laughable. Not a gram of protein in sight, so good luck with that. Hotel staff came BEFORE CHECK OUT TIME to tell us it was time to leave. Do not advertise 11:00 am check out time then start ushering people out before that. Hotel staff had kicked another lady out of her room before checkout as well that we rode down the elevator with. I understand they have to clean the rooms and get them ready, but you don’t need to start cleaning them BEFORE CHECKOUT TIME. Additionally, the room inside is NOT as advertised on booking.com. I don’t know where they took those photos, maybe they have a select number of renovated rooms, but do not expect the rooms to look like the photos. You might get lucky, but our room looked and felt gross. The shower was filthy and the shower curtain had mold. They really catfish you into staying here. We didn’t feel the single blanket provided was very clean as it was covered in spots, so I went down to request two blankets and the guy was very short and rude with me about it. Location was good, that is all it has going for it.
