This is a nice modern hotel near the airport. Free shuttle buses to the airport are available each half an hour. Great food, friendly stuff. It is the best option to stay overnight in case of connecting flights. Good value for money.

Good hotel, not far from the city center. There is a shuttle service to the mall, which is very convenient. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is excellent.
What I did not like was the unfriendly receptionist. There was also an unpleasant smell in the room, and the bed sheets were not very comfortable. It would be great if bathrobes and slippers were provided as well.

This was our second time staying at this hotel because it’s so conveniently located, and we had another wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was spotless and well-maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere for our stay. The beds were especially cozy, ensuring a good night's sleep.
One of the highlights is still the complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, which runs every 15 minutes and is very punctual. It made our travel to the airport hassle-free.
Breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of options. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, comfort, and attentive staff.

Hotel is close to the Airport, within walking distance. Rooms are fairly clean, good for a layover stay
Negatives:
We checked-in around 2am due to a late flight and was encountered by one of the rudest receptionist in all our travels. Examples include:
- No greetings when we arrive
- Throughout the check-in process, barely said a word (with exception of last point)
- Unable to find our booking because she
used the wrong check-in date, but did not apologise
- When she passed us 2 keys, we assumed the check-in process were completed for 2 rooms and moved towards the room. In her words, she said “Friend, where do you think you guys are going? We are not done yet”

A good place if you have a transit or even if you stay in Joburg for few days. It’s little far from the city centre but the location is safe and plenty of restaurants and supermarkets around. Still many scammers around, be careful. Hotel room is little small but worth for money. Has breakfast, restaurant, bar, swimming pool. Airport shuttle van leaving every hour from morning to night.

Although the hotel is very high end and luxurious, we felt a little out. We are not racist at all, but we were the only white guests residing at the hotel which was a bit awkward. Also the fact that the estate residents use the lagoon and hotel services makes it feel that the exclusivity of the hotel stay is compromised.

The room was very clean, spacious, and luxurious. The hotel lobby and facilities were fantastic, and I would definitely stay here again. Emails were answered promptly, and the service from all staff was very friendly and outstanding. The bed was super comfortable and spotless, which made for a great night’s sleep. You can even check in super early for about $20, which I thought was a fair deal — I checked in 6 hours early. Highly recommend this hotel!

GGuest UserMy husband arrived early at the hotel (7am) , tired and exhausted after a long flight and staff were not helpful with getting him into the room atleast a little earlier than the check-in time or offered any other available room , he was told to wait until 2pm to check into his room .
Also , he asked for a halal meal when calling room service and they just told him they don’t have anything , instead of offering an alternative .
I really hope that in future , the service of this hotel would be more helpful .

VVeleI had the best time just relaxing at the hotel . The staff were very friendly and because it was my birthday they upgraded my room and gave me free breakfast . I had an amazing time and I can’t wait to go back .

The hotel's location was simply outstanding. It was conveniently situated, allowing easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. Whether it was exploring the city or embarking on a safari adventure, the hotel's central location made it a perfect base for my travels.
The service provided by the hotel staff was truly exceptional. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive assistance throughout my stay, I felt genuinely cared for. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met, including a special favor of allowing me to leave my suitcase while I was away on the safari. Their flexibility and accommodating nature were greatly appreciated.
The hotel itself was a sight to behold. It exuded elegance and charm, with its beautifully designed interiors and well-maintained facilities. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the tastefully decorated rooms to the inviting common areas. It was a pleasure to return to such a comfortable and inviting space after a long day of exploring.

The only thing is if you’re booked into a room further away, you must know that if it is raining you have to walk outside and to the entrance to fetch your food orders or get your uber — only downside.

Holiday Inn was full so this was a close alternative.
Had amenities but their outlets were in the kitchen far from the bed? Not very business traveller or relaxing traveller friendly.
I booked a queen studio which had a kitchenette which was great for warming food etc. Decor a bit tired so could do with some love. But apart from a very dirty bottle left on the balcony it was clean.
Location is excellent for Rosebank Mall even if you have to play chicken to cross the road 😆
Customer service was severely lacking. I thought Radisson Red staff were slow but at least they were always there. You can't call frontdesk . It's all QR codes and WhatsApp. Late check out would be the cost of another night R1980. Staff had a, I dunno attitude and werent very helpful. 1 security guard and 1 young lady in the lounge are the only exceptions. Outlets in the lounge and office were local only and I had to really ask to get where I could buy adapters / converters.
Next time I'll go elsewhere. They're not customer focused enough for me.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hotel and while it’s not a five-star property, the experience was genuinely pleasant overall. The biggest highlight was definitely the staff, they were incredibly friendly, warm, and enthusiastic. From check-in to check-out, they made us feel welcome and valued, which truly makes a difference.
They also recommended a restaurant nearby, and it turned out to be an excellent suggestion. The food was delicious and the service there was outstanding as well.
The rooms are well-equipped with practical amenities, including a microwave, stove, washing machine, and even two bedrooms in one unit, which makes it very convenient for families or longer stays.
That said, there is room for improvement when it comes to hygiene and overall maintenance. There was a slight musky smell in parts of the hotel, and the cleaning standards could be improved.
Despite this, we genuinely enjoyed our stay, mainly because the staff’s kindness and professionalism really stood out. With some attention to maintenance and cleanliness, this hotel has the potential to be even better.

From check-in to departure, everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the entire stay feel effortless. The complimentary airport shuttle runs every 15 minutes and was perfectly on time, making transfers to and from OR Tambo stress-free. And the breakfast — wow. Easily one of the highlights of the stay. A generous spread, well prepared, fresh, and honestly to die for. Overall, a really solid, comfortable hotel that delivers where it matters most: service, convenience, and food. Will be back again.

PPifpafExcellent stay at the Southern Sun in Rosebank. From the reception to the check-in, to the installation in the room, everything went very well. The staff (maintenance, bar, restaurant, reception and security) all worked with a smile. The room was very well equipped and clean. The breakfast was plentiful and very varied. The restaurant had excellent food and very good wine. A special thought to the staff who opened the gate at the back of the hotel every day for us, making it easier for us to leave for the Rosebank lung. The swimming pool, although cool, was always welcome at the end of the day. Even if some minor work was underway in the hotel, we were never inconvenienced. We will definitely be back.
A big congratulations to the hotel and all its staff. We will definitely be back.
