Asrama di Como

We lived in Como for a while and walked past this hotel every day. It's literally on the lakefront and as central to the centro storico, the bus station and the train station as it is possible to get. We always thought it would be a nice place to stay. Roll forward and we had reason to visit Como again this week so we booked it. I also booked another room for someone we were planning to meet in Como. The hotel is one of those elegant old-school hotels you could imagine from reading about the grand old days of ('old' in the sense of traditional, elegant and sophisticated - but not 'old' in a 'tired' way). Imagine the exact opposite of a modern steel & glass skyscraper hotel and this is what you will find here. Staff were very attentive and friendly (while still being unobtrusive and professional). Food was excellent. Maybe the breakfast was a little but expensive but that's the way it is with hotels - just book it with your reservation and you'll save. Dinner in the restaurant overlooking the fountain (twice) was fantastic. Many of the dishes were not as expensive as local tourist ripoffs elsewhere in the City. The Cotoletta Milanese was as good as I have ever tasted anywhere in northern Italy (imagine a soft, succulent Veal steak covered in breadcrumbs) and big enough to share 1/3 of it and still be full afterwards. The Lunch menu was better and less expensive than places with much less quality on the menu. Overall, I would happily recommend the Palace Hotel to anyone. Treat yourself and book a room with a Lake View. You won't regret the extra few Euro.

Not so convenient in terms of location but the hotel room makes up for it. Breakfast has a good selections of food. Would come back again

Hotel Engadina is in a brilliant location - just 5 minutes walk from the Lake, 10 minutes from the railway station and 15 minutes from the town centre. The staff in this family owned and run hotel couldn't possibly have been more gracious and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were of a high 3* standard - spacious and clean with a mini fridge to keep your drinks cold, and a good sized flat screen TV with satellite channels. New clean towels were supplied every day and even though there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, the staff were only too happy to make us a full tray of tea each evening to take to our room - all at no extra charge. Finally, the continental breakfasts (served from 7.00am to 10.00am) were outstanding - a very generous supply of items served to us at our table, including the most delicious croissants we've ever tasted. It was worth getting out of bed just for these!

I stayed at Avenue for one night at the end of a business trip. Como is only a 45 minute drive to Malpensa airport. I was a bit hesitant based on some reviews, but I can say that the hotel was fantastic! Room was super clean, and even had its own terrazzo to relax on. Room was on the small side, but very normal for Italy. Bathroom was clean and spacious. I don’t know where people had issues with noise, but my room was totally quiet the entire time. Only issue was that the safe wouldn’t open after I locked it. The staff came up immediately, and took some time to sort it out, but they got it done. They were incredibly nice (and apologetic, which wasn’t necessary). Ate dinner at the pizza shop around the corner that shared the patio right in front of the hotel. Food was great, and super convenient. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed here for a few nights while working in Lugano Switzerland nearby. I thought the room was really good and clean and I had a nice balcony. The rate was very good. I liked that the hotel was a bit away from the city center, but a nice walk to the old walled city. I mapped 800M to the Porto Torre in the old city and 1.3 KM to the Cathedral by the lake. It felt like being in the real town of Como, not the fully tourist area. There is a really nice rooftop bar with a pool and I went there for drinks and had some decent food there also. I also had quite a nice breakfast buffet included. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy walking, and they gave me an excellent map and directed me on a lovely walk around the lake to Cernnobio the next village over and I took a ferry back that was only 2.5 euros. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Como.

We had an incredible hotel experience. The service and attention to detail were top notch. I celebrated my birthday there and was gifted so many special little treats through the stay that just made the trip extra memorable. A huge thank you to the entire staff. I can’t wait to visit again!

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 82 and really enjoyed it. It is an old building but full of character. There was a cosy lounge near our room, used to sit there at night reading a book. Few things could be improved. Get rid of the awful red chandelier and the modern furniture in room 82 replace with furniture that suits the building. No milk/creamer on hospitality tray and no tea bags either. Why not just have a kettle ? The cooked breakfast options arent great.. but the Gellatoria next door....WOW no wonder there are queues at MIDNIGHT... Would certainly stay here again

Great location, close to shops and restaurants, just walking distance to the train station. The rooms are simple and clean, the bed is quite hard though, same as the pillows, they need to invest in new bedding to make the stay more comfortable. Breakfast is OK, but lacks more fresh fruit and other alternatives to boiled eggs and cheese.

We have been in many hotels in different countries, but this one is really special, hotel is beautiful, very nice location, just 9 minutes you are in city center by train. All is good, but personal, Francesco at resection, makes experience to stay here really amazing. Any question you might have, he has an answer, and best is that Francesco does it with pleasure, he helps really with heart, we have never seen such a perfect help in any other hotel. He’s really special, thanks a lot to Francesco for such a nice help every day we stay here. We would recommend this hotel 1000%!! Nino and Nodar
