The location of APM allows you to start your exploration of JoBerg easily. Staff: 5/5 The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel (APM) staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Welcome drinks, smiles, professionalism, and a great source for local information. All staff members were amazing. Special acknowledgments to Pretty and Mr. D!!! Also, a special shout-out to the lady who delivered the birthday gift to our room. Sorry, we never exchanged names! You know who you are! 😊 Staff makes your hotel; somehow, The African Pride got it right with their entire team. Hotel Room: 4/5 The rooms at the hotel are spacious and beautifully appointed. They have all the amenities you could possibly need, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, well-lit and spacious. The Pride, though kept well, was slightly dated. There should be some type of assessment of each room so that they are able to keep its mystique intact (it’s time to get rid of every DVD player in your hotel… It's ok, no one will notice) Hotel Grounds: 5/5 It’s situated in Melrose, so the hotel grounds are also part of the Melrose in a way though they do have a pool area, which is spectacular. They also have an amazing restaurant attached to them where you can pick up an amazing breakfast before starting your journey touring the sites in Joburg. Location: 5/5 The location in Melrose Arch is a huge plus. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes are within walking distance, so you'll never run out of things to do. Conclusion: 4.75/5 I highly recommend the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and convenient stay in Johannesburg. You will surely enjoy your stay while you visit JoBerg. Things to be aware of: Power issues plague the entire country. Places like African Pride have backup generators to assist with making your experience more enjoyable. When you have temporary blackouts, it is because the generator is assisting to maintain power to the entire building. Anyone who blames APM for power issues should be more aware of the countries they visit. APM doesn’t appear to have a fitness Gym on site, but you have access to a nearby gym, which is from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., I believe ( I could be wrong). Go to the front desk. Tucked away in Rosebank, the Southern Sun Rosebank exudes a warm and welcoming feel to its guests and patrons. The hotel itself is very popular among tour groups and is a favorite venue for various conferences, conventions, trainings, meetings and corporate activities. The concierge is manned by polite, friendly and accommodating staff who ensure your stay is wonderful and memorable. I had come here for a conference/training and the hotel accommodated my request to keep luggage for me for my stay. And despite having changed my arrival dates twice, they were very flexible and ensured that I be picked up from the airport in the middle of the night - in safety and comfort. The expansive and eye catching atrium is designed in such a way that guests can lounge in style and families can relax in comfort. Workstations designed as open plan worktop counters have an endless supply of ports one can plug a laptop into and get to work - either as a small focused group or by oneself. There is also a boardroom and business center that working groups can utilize. The meeting rooms are well maintained, spacious, and supported by excellent staff who ensure impeccable audio-visual, IT and tech support. The bar and restaurant are nicely designed to maximize space - without anyone feeling claustrophobic, and yet exude an eye appealing aesthetic. There are outdoor areas nicely setup for smokers and those who want to dine al fresco. Indoors are also pleasing and there is enough seating for small medium and large groups or the solitary diner. The food is amazingly prepared and the buffet is nicely laid out. There is enough in the menu to satisfy varied palates - vegetarians, pasta perfectionists, meat lovers, seafood aficionados and fusion fanatics. The bar is not for the rowdy and uncouth, and the chef is very hands on and attentive to all detail - from flavors to fixtures. The rooms are very comfortable and definitely not cramped, with well-appointed furniture, the most divine bed, the fluffiest pillows, a well organized bathroom, sufficient closet space, and a roomy workstation. the shower itself has lots of pressure and no dearth of hot water. The housekeeping staff are very helpful and efficient, the laundry service is top notch and the chauffer service is excellent. The gym is well equipped with well maintained facilities. The pool is amazing for relaxation and fun. And the spa is just heavenly. And there is safe and sufficient parking. Most of all, the location is very safe (you are right in front of the police), a block or two away from the Rosebank mall, a service station, a hospital (top notch one), cafes, bistros and restaurants.

Holiday Inn Sandton does every top notch! While their restaurant is being renovated they upgraded the view that came with the delicious meals. Rather than relocate the dining room to one of their spacious internal conference rooms, they moved it to offer all diners the ”best seat in the house.” Starting the day with these views was inspiring and energizing. But the real boost of confidence comes in knowing I was staying where everything matters to this team as much as it does to me. See you again soon!

We stayed here for a total of 4 nites, beginning of March, two nites we had booked for some rest before joining a group tour of South Africa and Victoria Falls. Two more nites were included in the tour. We arrived very early on the first day, and our room wasn’t ready (no surprise), so we walked over to the mall via the 6th floor access. (Sandton mall), and had a very nice breakfast/lunch at the cafeteria in the Woolworths. When we returned to the hotel, our room was ready, and a porter brought our bags up right away. The room was of a good size, king size bed was comfortable, bathroom had separate shower and bath, and was nicely decorated. We were totally exhausted after almost 24 hours of travelling, and were fast asleep within minutes. Upon waking, we had a very nice dinner at the hotel’s San restaurant. Breakfast in the morning (included) was amazing- there was a cold buffet spread, and in addition, you could order an a la carte dish from the menu - no going hungry here. Honestly, the only thing i could complain about was how cold the water in the pool was.. Besides the easy access to Santon mall, you can also walk to the Nelson mandela square which flows into the sandton mall, which had quite a selection of restaurants - we ended up eatin 2 very nice dinners there. This would definitely be our hotel of choice, should we ever return to Johannesburg..

Un hotel correcto en Johanesburgo. Como positivo está muy bien localizado en Sandton City, junto al centro comercial, lo que te permite moverte, hacer compras, comer, cenar, etc sin tener que desplazarte… y este punto es importante dada la inseguridad de la ciudad. En el shopping está la Mandela Square con varias opciones de gastronomía. Destaco el desayuno y también un buen bar y restaurante en el hotel, así como el gimnasio. La habitación es correcta, pero nada de otro mundo; quizá el punto más débil del hotel. Gracias al restaurante por darme de cenar en el último minuto… muy serviciales!!

Went to the Hotel for breakfast with my family and the professional experience we received there was a Stella one 👌🏽. From The manager on duty Amukelani who was very patient with us. We stayed at this hotel during a 2 night stay In Johannesburg before flying back home. It’s an easy 30 min ride from the airport and is located in a newer, safe, town-center type area with a mall, restaurants, and high-end shops just at the doorstep. I’m not sure if it was this hotel or just Johannesburg as compared to the other tourist destinations in South Africa, but the service was a bit lacking here. My husband is a platinum elite member and usually gets extra perks and great service but this was not the case. It may have been because we booked through a travel agency, but in any case, for a Marriott property, it was not the most welcoming. The property is very conveniently located with nice new-appearing rooms (although the shower is actually in the room as others said to save space most likely). The shower being in the room is separated by a curtain but could be awkward for travelers who are not couples. There is a nice pool as well. Overall, it worked fine for our short stay and we felt safe walking around but were advised by the hotel not to venture out as just outside the complex are some unsafe areas.

This hotel is located in the heart of Maboneng on Fox Street, which is very bustling & busy. It’s very convenient as there are lots of shops, bars, & restaurants on this street. This is actually the only street that is safe to walk on around here, as I was warned by the front desk when I checked in not to walk on the other streets parallel to Fox St. There was also a sign in the front to beware of cell phone grabbers. The front desk was very helpful in providing all the information I needed during my stay. My international flight arrived at 6am in Joburg; hence I was super tired, so I really appreciated that I was able to check in early & take a short nap. The room overall was ok… simple but very spacious with a comfy bed. I liked that the big windows allowed a lot of natural light to come in. It was quite chilly when I arrived in Joburg in early June so the little space heater they provided in the room made it more comfortable. The room also has a little kitchenette, though I didn’t use it since I only stayed 2 nights. The only downside is that they didn’t have wifi when I arrived as they were still trying to get it fixed. Luckily, I bought a sim card at the airport beforehand. The next day, the front desk did notify me that wifi was back online so I was able to connect. Overall, for the location, the comfort, & the price, this is a decent place to stay for a couple of nights in Johannesburg.

Holiday Inn rosebank hotel is located at the center of rosebank and there is a gautrain station just in front of the hotel entrance and also you can access to the rosebank mall directly from the hotel. The entire team on this hotel was super friendly always willing to welcome the guests with pleasure. Breakfast on the 2nd floor served by variety of food selection of which including a cheese plate and an egg station was just enough to boost energy to start up the day. The food served from the hotel restaurant was with a reasonable price so that I could enjoy delicious food without going out for dinner. I would definitely say that it's worth the money to stay in this place. Although I had a concern about the city Johannesburg before the trip but at least in this rosebank area which was totally safe to hang out and walk around the streets with no stress. I had such a great experience in Johannesburg and willing to come back in the future. Thank you once again to leave this beautiful country with good memories. It's was such a pleasure to stay here.

We travel in December for a week with my family...I have seen some pics on the Internet and in reality it is not the same..the place is very old..the ac in the living room was out of order,we did not have keys with our room door to be safe,we ask for a cloth rack to be put in the room cause we didn't have one ,we never received it...I was in my period one night and the bedsheets got dirty with blood stains and my towels was dirty,I explain my situation and ask a new towel they told me to wash it my self.my bed sheet was not changed even if it was dirty, I remove it on my bed, I put it on the floor I sleep on a naked bed .one day they have done the rooms,they removed the bath towels and never replace them,when I ask on the reception they say they are not a hotel and they do jot have towels to give me.the dryer machine is not even hot and the cloths still wet ,the washing machine make a lot of water on the floor...this was my honest opinion...pls do some maintenance on the place .thanks

I stayed at the Melville Turret for 9 days, alone, split between work and vacation. Everything went very well, and I highly recommend this Guesthouse with its welcoming, friendly, warm and smiling staff, always available to meet any need. I had initially booked a room for only 5 days, I had no problem extending this stay directly on site. The rooms are clean and well appointed, as are the collective areas. Very pretty interior courtyard. Breakfast is generously prepared by Prisca, incredibly kind and with whom it is very easy to exchange and share (I miss your smile :) ). The street and the neighborhood are calm and safe, we are close (10 min walk) to activities / bars / restaurants on 7th. I could not have asked for better for a first experience in Johannesburg. I can see that this was a great place to stay in its heyday but has declined over time. Positives are it’s location, friendly and accommodating staff (which one would expect in the hospitality industry) and a reasonable price. Negatives that I experienced were that the place was well worn, tired and in need of some investment. Examples are, worn carpets, hole in the dining room table cloth, frayed bath towels, basin not draining quickly due to matted hair in the strainer (fixed same day), broken suitcase rack (fixed same day), evidence of a dampness problem in the plaster on the wall near the window, extractor fan in the bathroom is dark brown with years of dust on the grill in the ceiling, no Barman on duty - was served by reception staff though. Apart from a buffet breakfast there are no meal facilities at all, not even for a light snack. I have to wonder whether this is actually a hotel or just a conference venue with accommodation. If it is indeed a hotel then this is definitely not the four star establishment despite having four stars next to their name on their website. Would I stay here again? Possibly, but only because it’s convenient & I know what to expect.

The check in process was very simple with super friendly staff. One guy stood out for me his name is ”Essential” he went out of his way to ensure that our stay was comfortable. The rooms were fairly clean and had a nice mini bar fridge. The downside was that they didn't have microwave ovens in the rooms, Essential sorted us out through the restaurant. The wifi login tends to be troublesome, I'd prefer they improve on that or find a simpler way to secure it and still allow flawless connecting.
