Puri Bagus Resort in Lovina is heavenly. Everything from the lovely, detached villa, to the infinity pool is delightful. We stayed a week enjoying the beach, pool, sunsets, spa treatments, cultural show, food and beverage, and surroundings. The Deluxe Ocean Villa is a stone's throw from the beach and is very spacious with a huge main room, ocean view patio, large bathroom and showers both inside and outdoors (in a secluded space off the bathroom). Spa treatment is excellent and very affordable. The outdoor, yet private, spa treatment setting is spectacular with a close-up beach view, and beautiful pools of water and fountains around you. Yoga class can be arranged with the resort's very talented instructor, also director of the spa. Yoga takes place in a special building with glass doors opening onto the beautifully landscaped resort grounds and Bali Sea. Breakfast by the pool is a treat and features all you can eat hot and cold specialties from a buffet. Eggs and other items made to order. The management and staff are exceptionally friendly, efficient and professional. Customer service is a high priority for this staff. In the surrounding area, we enjoyed nearby waterfalls in the mountains, and hot spring swimming parks, both in the mountains and on the shore. Cooking classes can be found at the resort or within walking distance at Warung Bambu Pemaron. Lovina is a fun town to visit (free shuttle from the resort in the mornings). We stayed at Puri Bagus in 2016 as well and thoroughly enjoyed our visits on both stays. With the south of Bali becoming so much more crowded and noiser, we prefer the peace and tranquility of the north.

We live in Bali and just visited for a short staycation with our 2 kids. We had a really great time and I can't believe I'd never heard of this place before because it's pretty massive. I'd read a bunch of reviews about the moldy smell in the rooms so I wrote in advance to ask and they assured me they put us up high in the main building. Our rooms did not smell. We actually preferred being in the main building versus in the valley as it was easier to come and go. Anyways the property is lovely, very scenic and well maintained, the breakfast is a decent spread (although I wish the plain yogurt was unsweetened) and they give you specialty coffee. We also received complementary high-tea which was a nice surprise and was actually really fancy. I need to call out Sunada at F&B as he was very helpful. Also my kids loved the Kids Club. The reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were a bunch of little things that were just annoying. The main one was we had continuous issues with the Internet in our room. This also impacted our ability to watch tv. The staff kept fixing it, but this issue happened every single day we were there (Staff had to come ”Fix” 3 separate times.) Sometimes the fix took over an hour. We had a great time and would come again, but I could see this really frustrating other guests.

Cicada did welcome us with a fusion of traditional Balinese design and modern luxury, while our valley suite offered a great view and relaxing comfort. The resort did represent itself in an impeccable cleanliness and serene atmosphere, with a very nice infinity pool. The gym, although very small in size, is adequately equipped for a basic workout. Restaurant Tangelo's beef wellington was a culinary highlight, and the outdoor à la carte breakfast provided us always a delightful way to start into the day. Recommendable stay!

From start to finish, this hotel was amazing, we spent 6 days here in Ubud and did lots of activities. Every single member of staff is a credit to this hotel. So helpful and nothing was to much trouble, communication was brilliant at all times, especially waiter ADI. Made our stay that extra special. Always went out his way to make our day. Telling us of great places to go and visit. The rooms are fabulous and always clean. Restaurant was great. Food exceptional. Loved the Easter night special. About 15 mins away from ubud town we called it ( market etc ) but free shuttle service was brilliant. We have been all over the world., and this is up there with the best of them. Highly recommend

Visited Amandari in March 2024 with my husband and had the most splendid stay. The hotel and the rooms are absolutely stunning and I love the small touches throughout the room and property. The food was great and each meal was better than the last. I absolutely loved the signature Aman cocktails they had to offer. Love the shuttle service from the hotel to the Ubud market, makes it really convenient to step out. The location of the property is really stunning with the view of the valley and convenience to Ubud market, other sightseeing spots. We took the tours to Bali bird and reptile park, some temples and waterfalls, etc. through Aman and were extremely happy with the guides. Mega who was our guide was so sweet and informative and really went out of the way to ensure we had an amazing experience. Also definitely recommend the spa, one of the best massages I have had. Siwi was my therapist and was amazing! Michel (GM) is so delightful to meet and always a pleasure to talk to! All the staff were so sweet and helpful and would go above and beyond to ensure our needs are met, including at the reception when it came to organising our tours or the restaurants to cater to our food requirements. Will most definitely be back!

My husband and I had an amazing stay at The Samaya Ubud. We spent 3 nights at the Ayung Villa and did not want to leave! The villa is very spacious, clean and well maintained – with just the right balance between modern and Balinese style decor. The bathroom is huge and equipped with a private jaccuzi. There is also a 1.8m-deep private swimming pool that is quite large. The hotel consists of a number of villas and they are a fair distance away from the reception area, but a buggy service is provided to transport guests back and forth from their villas. The Samaya Ubud has a beautiful scenery and is centrally located, it is only about 15-minute drive away from local attractions such as the Ubud Monkey Forest and Saraswati Temple. A free shuttle service from the hotel to Ubud Central is provided. The service was impeccable, every single one of the staff that we met during our stay was extremely friendly and helpful. We had informed the hotel that we were visiting Bali to celebrate my birthday / our honeymoon, and they provided us with complimentary wine, decorated our room with flowers, and even surprised me with a cake on my birthday (right after we checked out & just before we left!) We felt very well looked-after throughout our stay here and we could tell that they truly served from the heart. One of the highlights of our stay was the romantic candlelit dinner at the Swept Away restaurant overlooking the Ayung River. The 7-course dinner was delicious, and the staff were very attentive throughout the dinner. We couldn’t finish everything and they helped to pack the remaining food and delivered them to our room. The dinner set up was very beautiful – the staff went above and beyond with the set up, placing 100 candles around the dining area, even at the riverbank! They also kindly helped us take many photos and videos to capture this unforgettable moment. We really loved our stay at The Samaya Ubud, and we are hoping to go back there one day. Resort is at a good location at a distance from the city so it’s quiet and peaceful. But the ants and insects are everywhere. So not very pleasant. They should really do something about repelling insects. At least in the rooms. Resort is very stingy when it comes to asking for extra bottles or water or glasses etc. Indian Kitchen is good but the other one not so much. Breakfast is below average, very limited options and only one serving of main course (small portions). Pools are nice and scenic for photos. Resort is very beautiful for clicking pictures. Overall 2.5/5 for this stay. P.S - Picture is of some leftover food that stayed for at least 2 days in the lobby to our room.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were beautiful with lovely little details. Afternoon tea was a lovely touch. A la carte breakfast was delicious. Staff were so helpful at all times, nothing was too much. Pool facilities lovely. Overall a very relaxing and calming hotel but still in the middle of Ubud. Would definitely stay again!

I have stayed here before in the past and booked 8 days. Was looking forwards to staying here again but it was not the same. Still beautiful villas and rooms and beautiful gardens and pool but everything else was a complete failure. First they no longer do a shuttle run into Ubud centre. My room was not available for my first night. So put in an alternative one which I was happy with. Just not happy that because I was going to be moved the next day I really couldn't unpack and settle in. They could have asked me if I wanted to stay in that room as it didn't get anyone else in for the next 7 days. In your room you no longer get the supply of tea, coffee and sugar but you get the cups and kettle. I had to plug mine in in the bathroom as there was no socket near the tray on the cupboard. So I also washed my cup in the bathroom and one day left my teaspoon in there next to my toothbrush. When I came home after an outing the receptionist pulled me up about housekeeping said a teaspoon was missing!!! Really awkward and not appropriate. Then one morning I wanted to have a nice early bath in the beautiful bathtub, but the plug would not stay down and keep the water in. So that didn't happen until later in the day. Also the bathroom towels had seen better days. At the start of my stay I ordered dinner from the restaurant. That was a big failure. The cordeon Blue was rough and dry with no self saucing, only a little bowl of tartare sauce which is normal for a fish meal but not chicken and the chips were the frozen type and uneatable. So I didn't eat here for the rest of my stay. The street outside has become very popular since the pandemic with several new really good restaurants, cafes and lovely spas.

Tucked away in a quaint village far from the maddening crowds in Canggu et al, this is a retreat to recharge and get away from it all. The property is architecturally interesting and the room is unusually vertical, designed as a treehouse, with a bathtub and open air relaxing area at the top. The infinity pool is surprisingly deep, and there is a natural cascading waterfall right in front of it. Absolutely hidden gem of a place.
