"I’ve stayed in many hostels before and understand you sometimes get what you pay for, but my stay at Wake Up! Sydney Central was disappointing.
We booked a private room for three with a shared bathroom. The room had a strong “slept-in” smell which seemed to come from the actual pillows and bedding rather than the sheets. The shared bathrooms were also quite dirty, and during our five-day stay I only saw them cleaned once.
The kitchen on the first floor is far too small for the number of guests. Fridges and cupboards were completely full, and with only a few cooktops, sinks and microwaves it’s very difficult to cook or find a place to eat.
The hostel is very focused on partying, with events like pizza nights and free drinks in the kitchen area. It’s also quite noisy, with partying and heavy doors slamming day and night, so don’t expect much sleep.
Considering how expensive Sydney is, this place still felt overpriced. The building is run down (cracked sinks), beds have thin mattresses, and we even saw a large cockroach one day. Staff simply said, “this is Australia.”
There’s also no ramp at the entrance, so heavy luggage has to be carried up the stairs.
The only real positive is the great location."

"Excellent service and very friendly staff. My room was cleaned every day while I was out and there was a nice restaurant on club on the floors below my room. As is stated, there will be noise particularly on a Friday, coming from the club downstairs and it’s worth mentioning that he does continue until around 1am. Overall though, I would highly recommend this if you are travelling to Sydney either solo or with friends or family the location is perfect and it’s a very clean comfortable luxury hotel to stay at. For me personally, booking in September during the mid week, I also managed to get it at a very very reasonable price Considering what I got for my money."

"The hostel was perfectly located near Bondi Beach and restaurant/bar/shops.
Quiet neighborhood, quiet hostel, and great staff.
Cleaning wasn't spotless but very decent if you consider that is a backpackers hostel.
I've got a room upgrade which enhanced the experience.
Everything is through the phone. Don't forget to download the app before hand.
Was a bit stressful to be sure to don't run out of battery."

On the downside we were right ontop of the bar so unless you like thumping music until midnight, request a room elsewhere … otherwise loved the resort feel atmosphere

📍 Location: Perfect. A quiet, relaxed street but directly opposite the beach.
🏨 Vibe: Superb decor and spotlessly clean. Feels luxurious but relaxed.
🌊 The View: The balcony view is everything! Waking up to that ocean panorama is unbeatable.
Verdict: An absolutely brilliant stay. Will definitely be back!

PPengguna TetamuThis is an almost perfect hostel, for sure one of the best I've ever been! Great staff, really good breakfast included, billard pool and couches plus the various activities (as well as possible bike, Beachvolleyball etc rental for free!) make it easy to connect quickly. Also, the beds are very comfortable amf the curtain provides some privacy too.
Only point for improvement: an air condition in the room would be great. But the Ventilator worked fairly well too.

SSpizzico• room: overall clean and equipped with fridge and microwave which was very convenient. My room was facing the side of a kindergarten so in the morning after 7.30 it was pretty noisy and during the day also
• amenities: there is a well equipped kitchen, a little small for all guests but it is just about planning when to use it, there is a nice garden and books and games available in the living room
• location: 10 min walk to the beach, 20 min walk to the supermarket and overall it is in a nice quier neighbourhood
• staff: friendly and supportive
my background: I travel 320 days a year since 8 years staying in all range of accomodation from hostel to 5star. I just review objectively what I see with no judgement

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel ticks a lot of boxes, clean modern rooms, pool and steam room, and in the best location, very central over looking the beach. The hotel has just had a refurbishment, very tidy with a good bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Only slight negative, front dest - check in could be better and a bit more friendly.
If you want to stay in Manly, this hotel is your best choice, the other main hotel is way down at the end of the beach.

Das Hotel befindet sich über dem Pub, der auch ab nachmittags sehr gut besucht ist.
Es gibt dort sonntags auch Livemusik bis ca 21 Uhr abends.
Alles vollkommen in Ordnung, wenn man nicht gerade Zimmer 10 neben der Waschmaschine/Trockner hat und neben der Lüftung schläft. Auch wenn ab 21 Uhr trocknen und waschen nicht erlaubt ist,störte es sehr.
Die Hotelzimmer gehen nach hinten raus,so hat man morgens leider ebenso den Lärm der Ladezone vom Supermarkt.
Positiv war,dass das Zimmer in einem modernen Zustand war und die Mitarbeiter alle sehr nett waren.
Der Strand ist fußläufig zehn Minuten entfernt.

PPengguna TetamuThe worst Father’s Day stay I have had in over 50 years - the television did not work and we paid extra to have a ocean view room but when you look out all you see are high rise buildings and pine trees from the room - if you go out onto the balcony and look to the right there is the ocean - the balcony door lock did not work and was held by a hook and eye staple ( at least that reminded me of my childhood 70 years ago ) - no milk in the fridge for tea or coffee - the bath mat was a hand towel for one foot only so no chance of 4 for Father’s Day celebration - the food was good and the staff helpful and courteous - on checking out I did voice our concerns and was told the manager would be advised.

PPengguna TetamuBooked this hotel based on its high review rating, but was disappointed. If you are from the Uk, I’d compared this hotel to a Travelodge. Basic facilities, bathroom felt a bit grubby, crumbs etc on the sofa in the room, and the room smelled a bit musty.
The staff were all very pleasant, laundry room is available, and while it feels like it’s in an industrial estate, the bus stops just outside to travel elsewhere, and it’s around a 30 minute walk to the very nice Curl Curl beach.
Great if you want a quick stop off for a night or two, or don’t plan on spending long at the hotel - but wasn’t really what I was hoping for.

PPengguna TetamuThe interior and the shower needs to be updated, very old and outdated. The floor in the shower fills up quickly and not running down the drain fast enough which was quite unpleasant to experience. The place needs heating or a heater as it can get quite cold during the winter. The queen bed was comfortable and warm and the room was spacious for 1 person. The reception is friendly and always smiling although it would be good to know in advance if my single bedroom that I booked for another booking so I didn't have to lugged 2 luggages and my handbag with my laptop into up and down the stairs as there are no lifts. I was surprised that a woman knocked on my door at 9:45am that she was ready to get into my room when in the booking, it says check out is 10am. That made check out a very annoying experience for me. The location is great as it's a short walk to the beach and Cronulla centre.
