Hotel Pantai di Koh Chang

I don't understand why this hotel has so many good reviews, but I want to write honestly, as someone who has worked in tourism for 20 years and seen a lot. The hotel definitely doesn't live up to its category. The biggest downsides are: there's no sea, the tide is very low every day, so you definitely can't swim here, and the knee-deep water that comes in in the afternoon smells like fish, and even while you're sitting at breakfast, there's a very unpleasant fish smell. But if you want, there's a shuttle that takes you to a good beach several times a day. The pool is dirty with green water; I was snorkeling, and there were tons of hair and sand at the bottom. The water doesn't circulate. In the morning, they pour two buckets of chlorine to disinfect the pool, and then it turns blue for a short while. The hotel rooms are large and comfortable, but tired. The tiles and plumbing need replacing. There were a lot of ants and cockroaches in the room. When we reported them, a worker came to exterminate them and treat them with ant repellent. On the plus side, the room has a large TV with YouTube access, a refrigerator, a tea station, a comfortable bed, and daily cleaning and towel changes. Peacocks roam the grounds (but that's not the main reason to come here). Breakfast is modest; there's a coffee machine with real coffee, pancakes, omelets like everywhere else, sausages and ham, and fruit. There were no yogurts or cheeses, and the juices were watered down. A lot of the equipment in the gym is broken. It depends on your preference, but for me, the sea and pool are key features in a place like this, so I wouldn't go back. There are plenty of cheaper and better options on the coast.

I was referred to this resort by a couple who I met in Chonburi, I decided to make a reservation and drive to Trat to catch the car ferry. The google directions weren't correct as it tries to take you to the small bridge which is only passable via motorbikes etc. Driving a further 2klms where you follow the signs you arrive at the back of the resort. The Bungalow was great, basic room with a separate toilet/shower room. The room has air conditioning, wall fan and mosquito net. Sliding doors to a small balcony overlooking the gardens to the beach. A foot tap to wash your feet is available at the steps to each bungalow. There are no fridge's in the Bungalow but there is a common fridge that you can use at the reception hut which is available 24/7 just mark your items with the room number. The gardens are immaculate and well looked after, plenty of deck chairs, lounges to enjoy under the shady trees. Two 600ml bottles of water are provided daily and left on the balcony of each bungalow daily. Its a 40m walk to the water, similar to the adjoining restaurant Siam Kitchen. I found The Beach Cafe about 100m up the beach front to have a higher quality of food and portion size another restaurant that I would recommend is Indie Beach Cafe. Jebbi the manager of the resort is always onhand and available to assist. Great low key resort, chilled and recommended.

The property is located on a small, but nice beach in a fairly quiet area.  The bungalows are rustic, clean and have a nice board walk weaving through the complex.  Both pools are nice and well maintained as is the main eating area for included breakfast.  The staff is friendly and responsive. On the downside, the resort is due for a bit of a refresh and thorough maintenance of all things plumbing.  Out toilet never did work well, even after staff was called to look at it.  The sink was also slow to drain and cold water only.  The food is marginal.  American breakfast is pretty dull, the Thai food is “Westernized” with limited choices and it is not really that big of deal as there are many restaurants close by.  Nice quiet place for relaxing stay.

The hotel is old, like really old, it was built in 1989 and it’s very visible. The bedsheets, towels are so old and dirty like 2 star motel. Deluxe family room looks like rooms in 1989 also. Not modern at all. We upgraded to villa (had to pay a lot for this) and it’s good, a bit old but much better, with beach view and private territory. The territory of hotel is really beautiful and big, it’s like a park and beach is great. You can also take cayak to get to the small island nearby. The birds (hornbills) that live at the hotel are really beautiful and worth seeing! Everything closes really early - even game room - it’s just a room with board games and we wanted to play there and the staff told us that they were closing at 7.30 p.m! Why not open this room until 10 at least 😀 No evening activities at all. Everything gets quiet and dead at 7 p.m. There is beach cinema announcement at reception on Sundays, but when we arrived on Sunday, the staff told us that there will be no movies 🫣 Отель очень старый, просто древний, постельное белье и полотенца в ужасном состоянии. Семейный номер на горе - это просто ужас. Детский бассейн на горе ушатанный. Единственное достойное в этом отеле - виллы с видом на море. В них нормальная мебель, полотенца и особое меню на завтраках. Прекрасная территория и пляж. Птицы-носороги - это восторг. Обезьяны нас не беспокоили - но мы жили на вилле рядом с морем. Думаю, в лесных номерах их полно.. В 7 часов вечера в отеле все закрывается, полная тишина. Никаких развлечений. Пляж прекрасный, надеюсь, что отель займется реновацией номеров, приведением их в современный стиль.

We stayed at Stage Hotel for 15 days, and it was truly wonderful. A very cozy, clean, and comfortable hotel that makes you feel at home from the very first days. The rooms are spotless, the beds are very comfortable, and the snow-white bed linen is a real pleasure to sleep in. The air conditioning works perfectly — the temperature in the room was always comfortable. Special thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone was kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely cared for. Honestly, I was almost in tears when it was time to leave. This is a place you want to come back to again and again. Stage Hotel is not just a hotel — it’s a feeling of comfort, calm, and warmth away from home. We will definitely return ❤️

No mango smoothie available for two days! In Thailand!!! Restaurant lasagne middle warm while the dish itself couldn’t be touched as it was the only hot thing. The Pool Pumps are high pitch streaming several times per day, which is very annoying. Restaurant „reserves“ table for non showing guest for hours. Prevent us from sitting at a nicer spot. And removed the reserved sign when we were done. Don’t Reserve seats… all this does is upset off other customers. The rooms were small and clean but the aircondition made a loud Sound very time the Compressor switched on. So sleeping well was not possible. The toilet Seat in the bath was just loosen attached an fall off on the time. Simple things no one seems to notice and fix… a bit disappointing Also be aware that you cannot lock your door and keep the ac running, as they use physical keys for the door, welded to the AC activation card.

I loved the hotel! We stayed in a beachfront room with a beautiful view. The highlight was the breakfast, which offered a variety of choices. The staff were friendly, and the pillows and bed were cozy and comfortable. The location was excellent, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

Bellissima esperienza, praticamente è un boutique hotel sulla spiaggia. Noi abbiamo preso una camera con terrazza privata (alcune camere hanno la terrazza condivisa tra due unità). La stanza è bellissima, l'aria condizionata funziona bene, il letto è comodissimo e il bagno è pazzesco! La pulizia è eccellente, sia in camera che nelle aree comuni. La colazione è fantastica, gustosa e varia, il personale è squsito e molto attento. La piscina è molto bella ed ha una vista sulla spiaggia strepitosa. Dovevamo stare solo tre notti ma invece ci siamo trovati così bene che abbiamo prolungato il soggiorno per una settimana, ci tornerei domani stesso!

The Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway is a solid 4-star resort located in Bai Lan Bay. As the name ”Hideaway” suggests, it is secluded, peaceful, and removed from the busy party areas. It is an excellent choice if you want privacy, relaxation, and great swimming pools, but it is not the best choice if you want to swim in the ocean directly from the hotel beach. Key Features • Location: It is located at Bai Lan Bay, which is south of the popular ”Lonely Beach.” It is very quiet. To find nightlife or a variety of street food, you will likely need to take a taxi or rent a motorbike to drive about 5-10 minutes to Lonely Beach or Kai Bae. • The Beach: Important Note: The hotel has a private beachfront, but it is quite rocky. It is beautiful for sunsets and relaxing on bean bags, but it is generally not suitable for swimming due to the rocks. • Pools: To make up for the rocky beach, the hotel has two excellent swimming pools. One is a large free-form pool by the ocean, which is very popular with guests. • Rooms: The resort offers a range of rooms from Standard to Private Pool Villas. The rooms are generally reviewed as spacious and modern with Thai influences. The Pool Villas are highly recommended for couples seeking privacy. Dining & Facilities • The Bay Restaurant: Serves International and Thai cuisine. Reviews generally praise the breakfast buffet for having a good variety. The restaurant offers ocean views. • Facilities: • Fitness Center & Spa: There is a well-equipped gym and a spa offering massages (often cited as a highlight by guests). • Entertainment: The hotel has a Karaoke room, a Kids' Club for families, and often hosts fire shows on the beach in the evenings.

Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort I stayed in a room with a private pool. A little splurge on myself! It was so fun to have my own pool, to wake up in the morning and just jump into the water for a little cooling off. I could lay on the recliner and read to my heart’s content with no distractions, feet in the water. Morning breakfasts are fantastic and the beach view is amazing! Staff are friendly and helpful. What to know?: it’s the “Cliff Beach Resort”, which means your on a hill… which means climbing. It’SA steep walk from room to beach, but a great opportunity to get your blood flowing. Embrace it. Room for growth: the bedding smelled a bit sour. It’s wet here, so making sure things dry properly is a challenge. My greatest complaint about the room is that there was a ladder propped up against the backside of the pool wall, meaning someone could climb it right into my private room. A little sketch. The ladder is for maintenance, so I just pushed it off the wall. The pool could use a bit of chlorine as algae was present on the pool walls, but honestly, I’d rather have the non-chemical water. The biggest negative which the hotel has no control over is the nighttime noise. There’s a bar across the street which pumps loud music (starting at 10pm and going til like 4am). The hotel actually gives you earplugs when you check in. So lame. There’s two pools. One up on top of the cliff with excellent views. One down by the ocean. Overall, a pleasant stay.
