"I was traveling alone and thought that’s a great way to meet people. I did end up meeting a few, but that was more because I’m talkative. It’s a rather calm Capsule Hotel and there was the rule that I needed not to be in the room between 11/ 12 am and 3pm. They were cleaning the whole location, so I wasn’t allowed to leave stuff in my capsule, I had to put it into my locker. They provided me with a Pyjama and towels. The capsule itself was hard plastic, you have to like it to enjoy it. The bed was comfortable. If you’re traveling with a suitcase, there are 2 levels of stairs that you need to take to get to the capsule hotel and after that everything works fine if you have a suitcase with you. They provide an elevator inside ! What I enjoyed was that each floor was gender separated. So the first 3 floors were men only and the top 3 were women only. So for a female solo traveler it’s highly recommended ! The location was mind blowing! Everything was close and the train station ebisu is only 3 min away"

KkhosodaI had a wonderful stay at this hotel and was genuinely impressed by every aspect of the experience. The cleanliness was exceptional—everything from the room to the common areas was spotless and very well maintained. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, providing more than enough space to relax after a long day.
The location is another major highlight. It is very convenient and well-situated, making it easy to access nearby attractions, transportation, and restaurants. This made my stay even more enjoyable and stress-free.
The service was outstanding throughout my stay. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a warm and professional attitude. Their hospitality truly made a difference.
The food was also delicious, with a great variety of options and excellent quality. Every meal I had was satisfying and enjoyable.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel stay is wonderful. The hotel is huge with an enormous lobby, looks sleek, and is classy with the dim light. The lobby is located at 20th floor, no comments on the bf as I only booked the room without bf. Check in and out are effortless. Staff is friendly and approachable. Amenities in room are plentiful and abundant. All shampoo, conditioner and bath lotion come in big bottles so it is more than sufficient for use. Inside bathroom, you can control the volume and listen to the TV you on outside so it is very useful. In room has the Alexa which you can easily communicate with it for anything of interest to you. Besides, the hotel is very conveniently located, near to Shinjuku station and the nearby shopping malls. The room is huge and comes with bathtub and it has a balcony area too. Highly recommended for staying here in Tokyo. You will not regret definitely!

CC-LHad a wonderful stay in this lovely cozy hotel located right outside Higashi-Ginza subway station that has a direct Keikyu train to Haneda Airport. Enjoyed the onsen and the welcome refreshments. There are several famous eateries just around the corner of the hotel. Will stay here again .

MmtmlCleaning is chargeable at 1.5k yen per clean. Otherwise no cleaning whatsoever - but they do give you new towels and a trash bag daily (hung on your door knob).
Breakfast is pretty cute and homely - I liked it when I tried it at a different province, so I rebooked dormy inn.
They have a luggage scale at level 2, so very convenient if you have been shopping like crazy. The shopping street around the area is pretty interesting, and I love uneo park.
However, some pretty strange stuff during my stay:
1. They insisted on entering my room for an ”inspection” but didn't specify why. When I called to ask, they said it was a bedframe inspection. As a solo female traveler my preference is not to let random people into my room, especially if they're not going to clean after these external people enter, but reception said they couldn't wait until my stay was over a few days later. When I came back to the room, my blanket was shifted and untucked entirely from one side, and my electronics were moved around.
2. A bug appeared on my sink mirror, so I gave feedback to the hotel staff as mini bugs means there's more bugs, and suggested that they fumigate. They said ”oh... sorry” suddenly all proceeded to look away from me and pretend I didn't exist, which was super weird treatment, and very rude lol. I didn't even ask them to change my room, the point is that these bugs are likely to have infestations, and if I came back in another trip to this hotel, I would not like to see more. They didn't even bother asking me what floor I was on, so 100% they don't seem to have any intention of dealing with this. Very weird and poor behaviour - I think it was too much to expect Onyado Nono service in Dormy Inn, so I don't think I will come back.

The hotel offers a welcome drink available anytime, and there is a separate onsen for men and women. In the evening at 6:00 PM, there is a free happy hour with drinks—perfect for alcohol lovers. My husband really loved it.
The amenities are also of good quality. If I visit Japan again, I would definitely choose to stay here—the price is very reasonable too.

The rooms were super clean and staff was really friendly and helpful. 7/11 is right downstairs in the basement level so you didn’t have to leave the hotel which is a plus especially early morning when everything doesn’t open until 11. We would definitely stay where again when we return!

Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel.
The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking.
Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level.
Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch.
Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue.
In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!

武武蔵野大学A.C.膽畑I stayed one night to attend a function at my university nearby, without having the long train ride home late at night. The Washington Hotel was perfect for this.
It is so near the station, the price was very reasonable, and the amenities were generally very good indeed. The room was very clean and comfortable for a single person, but I thought it might be a tight fit for 2.
I was a bit disappointed that I had to access all the hotel information on my phone as the function didn't work on the large screen TV, although all other functions were fine. However, procedures were clear and straightforward. I cannot evaluate the food as I didn't eat there. What I eat for breakfast is never worth ¥3,000. If you wanted to eat lunch or dinner here, there are plenty of options within the same building.
