This is definitely a place that is orientated more towards families rather than couples. What was good was the friendly staff throughout the resort, the food and beverage service and the convenient underground parking. Stayed in a deluxe king room on the fifth floor overlooking Cairns city which appears to have been recently upgraded. Room smelt damp on entry and after the first shower it was evident why. It is hard to believe that someone designed the shower so that water flowed directly onto the floor and out into the living area even when you had the least amount of water flow possible. Wee bit of a design flaw I would suggest. Also, when booking a King size bed it would be a good idea to ask guests if they want a second bed in the room along with connecting rooms. I personally have no wish to have connecting rooms unless I am staying as a family. This door along with the front door were not particularly well sealed and you could here plenty of noise from outside and next door. The balcony is marketed as being intimate in yet has one chair and being a connecting room has nothing between you and your neighbours balcony. Hardly intimate. Based on the reviews I am sure this place is perfect for families however, there are better choices for couples elsewhere in Cairns.

1) It was a nightmare checking-in. I reached the hostel at 6:30pm and realized that there was no reception but to use Goki for checking-in. However, I received a notice from Goki that ”no reservation” after keying in my confirmation number. I got a shock and kept asking for help from strangers within the hostel. By the time I got it solved, it was like 8:30pm and I was starved to death.
2) Though Goki is an easy system but u need to bring your mobile everywhere you go even to the toilet eg shower (what happen if you forget to bring out the phone); there was a time my phone was almost out of battery (1% left) and I have to quickly charge it by borrowing charger from others.
3) There is no window in my room (single) and the air-con temperature is beyond my control
4) The reception area only opens till 2pm daily, after which you have to make call for any housekeeping services. It really pose inconveniences for first timer who wants to know about Cairns in terms of the directions, places of interests etc.
5) The location is excellent but I don't think I will recommend this hostel to my friends in future.

I left another local hostel after one night as it was just too noisy - I wanted a place for a good rest so that I could really enjoy all the amazing day trips nearby. This place did just that! I booked a single occupancy room (shared bathroom) on the day and stayed for 4 nights - great value for money and really did the job - I had a perfect rest here. Other guests were of all ages and were friendly. The hostel was very quiet at night and put on some optional entertainment (I chose not to partake and it didn’t disturb me at all). The pool area is small but great! Big kitchen area to cook in and store food. The staff were great at helping me book day trips and the location is fantastic for these (I did the Great Barrier Reef, karunda skyrail and daintree trip from here and the location was perfect). I would definitely stay again!

The personnel is helpful and friendly. The location is perfect and the bar/club is always busy. You can eat, drink and party all at the same place.
The air conditioning in the rooms was a bit too strong, and there is no controller to modify it. It's a centralised system.
The bed has to be done by yourself when arriving. Finding it done would be appreciated. A shelf and individual light in the bed would be really useful.
The building is very big and has enough room in the common areas and kitchen (which is busy at any time).
Services are fine overall.

The place was freshly painted and extremely clean, beds so comfortable . It was a paradise to stay in even compared to hotels I have paid much more for in the past. We went on a waterfall bus trip and listened to others complaining about the places they were staying being dirty, pillows in adequate etc and we could only say Travellers Paradise was so clean and comfortable!,! The host Peter was also extremely helpful at all times!

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Although the room design is old style(not renovated one), the room is clean and the sea view is amazing. Great location especially to the meet up point of skydive and diving. Just 5 mins walk. ****** is just nearby so you don’t need to worry the night activities. Staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoy the stay a lot.

Good location, and only a short walk from shops, bars, restaurants and the reef cruise terminal. Large rooms with all things you would need for a short stay although the room we stayed in was dated. I believe there is a room modernisation programme on the go. Quite noisy at night, not sure if it was coming from the hotel bar area on floor 3 or from a nearby establishment. Our room was on floor 10 and even with the balcony door closed it still kept us awake. Staff were pleasant and helpful and rooms serviced daily. We booked this hotel in July 2022 with breakfast included. It came as a surprise to us when we took breakfast on the first day that we only had limited choice from the menu. All other items including larger breakfast items, juice and coffee were charged extra. Due to time limitations on the first day we left it till later to complain. Reception explained that there had been a change of management and had discontinued the buffet breakfast in favour of an al a carte one. They phoned the restaurant and authorised full breakfast free of charge for us. As we had paid cash for extras the previous day, this was now lost. We always check booking.com and trip advisor reviews before making reservations. My advice would be to ignore those prior to July 2022 and especially ones that mention breakfast.

We recently spent two nights at the Pacific Hotel Cairns and found it to be good value, well located and clean. The room was modern and the beds really comfortable. The only downside was the view onto the parking lot but we didn't book to enjoy the view from the room so that was fine. Also have a nice buffet breakfast at a reasonable price. We look forward to going back again soon.

PPengguna TetamuWe arrived at the hotel around 1.30pm and we were able to check in straight away, the girl on reception was very friendly and explained where our room was as there are 2 towers . We were on the 10th floor with a city view. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Loved how they are helping with environmentally keys for your door which are just round bamboo disks and also having no plastic bottles in the fridges, just glass bottles. All tv programs were free so we’re able to watch new release movies and free wifi . We had booked a holiday package , so we also had free car parking and a $250 credit to use at any of their hotels . Would definitely stay here again .

I won’t come back there are plenty hotels in the vicinity, a little walk is good exercise; plus the night market is on the other side anyway.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed at the Palm Royale for only 3 nights & I wish it could have been longer. We checked in late the 1 st night so there was little time left of the day except to go to bed. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool & it was fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, the room was a long walk from the lobby, the air conditioner was very loud, and there was some street noise. Most of the staff @ the desk were pleasant & approachable. There is also guest laundry +++. The pools are fantastic. The restaurant is closed. This property is too far from the centre. There is shopping nearby.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed at Oak Carins for one quick evening before departing for a liveaboard cruise. The check in was quick and our stay was nice and comfortable. The only issue is that we booked the stay through our airline and requested an ocean view room. Unfortunately, the systems didn’t sync and Oak Carins oversold ocean view rooms and we were stuck with a different view. The staff tried to accommodate with a breakfast voucher but we couldn’t accept as we were leaving before their kitchens opened. So we were told that we would be credited back a refund…but there are so many stages/3rd parties, I doubt we will ever see it, but appreciate them trying. Would recommend if you are in Cairns and need a reasonably priced place to stay that is walking distance to the activities in the city.

MMariaThe hotel feels rather old and battered. The guests are given regular keys instead of keycards, the walls and the apartment entrance doors are so thin that I could hear my neighbours 24/7. The lift works without tapping the keycard, so anyone can go to any floor. The reception closes at 8, so there is noone to help if anything happens later in the evening/at night. I also heard people shouting in the hallways at night. In general, I just didn't feel safe at this hotel as a solo female traveller.

TTrek18262175996This hotel is rated as a 4 star, but honestly, I think that is mainly due to its location. It is perfectly situated on the esplanade and so walkable to everywhere. But in terms of hotel service etc….its’ only so so. Check in was a tedious process….I had to become a member of the travel club in order to have wifi, which I think is a bit much. It’s free, but annoying to have to fill out more forms and give info for a service that is pretty standard at most hotels.. We stayed 5 nights. No housekeeping. I get wanting to be eco friendly….but really, after 3 nights at least, a visit to the room to replenish towels would be appreciated. When I did go down to the desk to get towels they were out and I was told to come back when the laundry service arrived later in the day. So odd. The smell of the room was also a bit wearing. Musty and mildewy. I don’t know if it was just this room, or the whole hotel, but it could use a bit of an update. The wear and tear is showing. The little sitting couch was super uncomfortable….too many bodies have worn that seat down and it feels like you are sinking into a pit. The bed however was good. I had relatively good sleeps if I left the window open to diffuse the moldy smell.

PPengguna TetamuGreat food and friendly helpful staff. Although this building is quite old it has been reasonably well renovated and is very comfortable to stay at. I had to leave VERY early to catch a bus and was supplied with a box breakfast, most welcome at 5am. On my return from my trip to Karumba we found that my booking had been made incorrectly a week further ahead.on arrival at 7pm , very tired,I was very grateful that the duty manager was able to put me into a very nice room for the night, and I was able to have a delightful meal and catch up with the gorgeous Shoni who welcomed me back even though I looked and smelt like Robinson Caruso, would definitely go there again.

The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. LLinda E Address: 331-337 Lake St, Cairns City QLD 4870 Phone: (07) 4041 6605 If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated this unit there are things you should be advised The Edge Apartments Cairns is situated in Cairns only 220 yards from the Northen end of the Esplanade and the Coral Sea. It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.

PPengguna Tetamu When I got there the room smelt of mould. I was told that was the smell of the cleaning products, but I am not stupid so I insisted they change the room. They did, but it was infested with ants. They were in the sink area, on the counter, in the bathroom, and around the toilet bowl. They even got into the wardrobe. I spoke to reception about it and all I got was a ”there is nothing we can do for you”. They sent someone after 2 days (as I had to wait since it was Sunday as if I hadn't paid for the weekend!) and he also said there was nothing he could do. I complained to booking.com and they told them they had upgraded me - BIG FAT LIE. Very quick to send me messages to leave reviews (here you have it!) but not to resolve issues. There was also an electrical fault that destroyed two expensive universal adapters. The hotel did nothing to compensate for this. Again ”there is nothing we can do for you” is what I got. I lost a day's pay as I could not work without a power supply, had to purchase new adapters the following day, and all they could say is ”there is nothing we can do for you”. What kind of hotel doesn't have adapters? The AC unit was exposed, the door was tricky to lock/unlock (the receptionist had to show me how to lock the door), and there is no one available at night in case something goes wrong. Lastly, the listing says daily cleaning but this is not true. You are only allowed to ask for it once in the middle of your stay and you need to request this. I did and she barely cleaned anything, just a quick vacuum and change of sheets and some towels (not all). My sincere advice as a world traveller: STAY AWAY FROM HOTEL TROPIQ. Their customer service is ZERO. Quick to take credit card details but then refuse to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong within the service. You just have to accept a ”there is nothing we can do for you”. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy!
