This is definitely a place that is orientated more towards families rather than couples. What was good was the friendly staff throughout the resort, the food and beverage service and the convenient underground parking. Stayed in a deluxe king room on the fifth floor overlooking Cairns city which appears to have been recently upgraded. Room smelt damp on entry and after the first shower it was evident why. It is hard to believe that someone designed the shower so that water flowed directly onto the floor and out into the living area even when you had the least amount of water flow possible. Wee bit of a design flaw I would suggest. Also, when booking a King size bed it would be a good idea to ask guests if they want a second bed in the room along with connecting rooms. I personally have no wish to have connecting rooms unless I am staying as a family. This door along with the front door were not particularly well sealed and you could here plenty of noise from outside and next door. The balcony is marketed as being intimate in yet has one chair and being a connecting room has nothing between you and your neighbours balcony. Hardly intimate. Based on the reviews I am sure this place is perfect for families however, there are better choices for couples elsewhere in Cairns.

I left another local hostel after one night as it was just too noisy - I wanted a place for a good rest so that I could really enjoy all the amazing day trips nearby. This place did just that! I booked a single occupancy room (shared bathroom) on the day and stayed for 4 nights - great value for money and really did the job - I had a perfect rest here. Other guests were of all ages and were friendly. The hostel was very quiet at night and put on some optional entertainment (I chose not to partake and it didn’t disturb me at all). The pool area is small but great! Big kitchen area to cook in and store food. The staff were great at helping me book day trips and the location is fantastic for these (I did the Great Barrier Reef, karunda skyrail and daintree trip from here and the location was perfect). I would definitely stay again!

1) It was a nightmare checking-in. I reached the hostel at 6:30pm and realized that there was no reception but to use Goki for checking-in. However, I received a notice from Goki that ”no reservation” after keying in my confirmation number. I got a shock and kept asking for help from strangers within the hostel. By the time I got it solved, it was like 8:30pm and I was starved to death.
2) Though Goki is an easy system but u need to bring your mobile everywhere you go even to the toilet eg shower (what happen if you forget to bring out the phone); there was a time my phone was almost out of battery (1% left) and I have to quickly charge it by borrowing charger from others.
3) There is no window in my room (single) and the air-con temperature is beyond my control
4) The reception area only opens till 2pm daily, after which you have to make call for any housekeeping services. It really pose inconveniences for first timer who wants to know about Cairns in terms of the directions, places of interests etc.
5) The location is excellent but I don't think I will recommend this hostel to my friends in future.

The personnel is helpful and friendly. The location is perfect and the bar/club is always busy. You can eat, drink and party all at the same place.
The air conditioning in the rooms was a bit too strong, and there is no controller to modify it. It's a centralised system.
The bed has to be done by yourself when arriving. Finding it done would be appreciated. A shelf and individual light in the bed would be really useful.
The building is very big and has enough room in the common areas and kitchen (which is busy at any time).
Services are fine overall.

The place was freshly painted and extremely clean, beds so comfortable . It was a paradise to stay in even compared to hotels I have paid much more for in the past. We went on a waterfall bus trip and listened to others complaining about the places they were staying being dirty, pillows in adequate etc and we could only say Travellers Paradise was so clean and comfortable!,! The host Peter was also extremely helpful at all times!

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Although the room design is old style(not renovated one), the room is clean and the sea view is amazing. Great location especially to the meet up point of skydive and diving. Just 5 mins walk. ****** is just nearby so you don’t need to worry the night activities. Staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoy the stay a lot.

We have spent 4 nights in this Double Tree Hotel and checking out today. In general hotel is very basic not meeting my expectations-
- breakfast is so basic and boring, not much variety
- room is standard
- have requested for wake up call the hotel receptionist was forgot - lucky we are not late for early flight
- reception also forgot to book the Taxi
Location is good
Will not recommend for my families and friends.

This holiday was well worth the wait!!! We stayed here on advise from friends who have stayed before and we weren't disappointed. This place is great if you have young children to mid teenagers (under 14). There is so much to do, from the 2 pools (one with 2 waterslides that both the kids and adults tried out!), peddle karts, mini golf, splash pad zone and movie nights. I guess the best thing was all the extra activites that this holiday park put on as we were there during school holidays. There was a movie every night, a farm animal day and even laser tag. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, as we wanted a little more space, which was great. The bathroom was very clean but one thing to note it is a jack and jill style, attached to both rooms. Each cabin had a deck which was great to hang out on in the arvo until the evening. If you need anything from the shops there is a great one on site or it is a short driving up the road to Woolworths, Coles and even Kmart :) I can't recommend this holiday park more highly.

Good location, and only a short walk from shops, bars, restaurants and the reef cruise terminal. Large rooms with all things you would need for a short stay although the room we stayed in was dated. I believe there is a room modernisation programme on the go. Quite noisy at night, not sure if it was coming from the hotel bar area on floor 3 or from a nearby establishment. Our room was on floor 10 and even with the balcony door closed it still kept us awake. Staff were pleasant and helpful and rooms serviced daily. We booked this hotel in July 2022 with breakfast included. It came as a surprise to us when we took breakfast on the first day that we only had limited choice from the menu. All other items including larger breakfast items, juice and coffee were charged extra. Due to time limitations on the first day we left it till later to complain. Reception explained that there had been a change of management and had discontinued the buffet breakfast in favour of an al a carte one. They phoned the restaurant and authorised full breakfast free of charge for us. As we had paid cash for extras the previous day, this was now lost. We always check booking.com and trip advisor reviews before making reservations. My advice would be to ignore those prior to July 2022 and especially ones that mention breakfast.

PPengguna TetamuWe arrived at the hotel around 1.30pm and we were able to check in straight away, the girl on reception was very friendly and explained where our room was as there are 2 towers . We were on the 10th floor with a city view. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Loved how they are helping with environmentally keys for your door which are just round bamboo disks and also having no plastic bottles in the fridges, just glass bottles. All tv programs were free so we’re able to watch new release movies and free wifi . We had booked a holiday package , so we also had free car parking and a $250 credit to use at any of their hotels . Would definitely stay here again .

I won’t come back there are plenty hotels in the vicinity, a little walk is good exercise; plus the night market is on the other side anyway.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed at the Palm Royale for only 3 nights & I wish it could have been longer. We checked in late the 1 st night so there was little time left of the day except to go to bed. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool & it was fairly comfortable. Unfortunately, the room was a long walk from the lobby, the air conditioner was very loud, and there was some street noise. Most of the staff @ the desk were pleasant & approachable. There is also guest laundry +++. The pools are fantastic. The restaurant is closed. This property is too far from the centre. There is shopping nearby.

PPengguna TetamuMy partner and I stayed at sunshine tower for 5 nights and it was an enjoyable stay. I want to start by saying the girls on reception were all very friendly and welcoming, they were happy to have a chat anytime and also recommended places to visit and see. Shout out to Phoebe she was lovely! The property is a little be further out of the main ***** but only a 10-15 minute walk or you can jump on one of the Beam scooters that are outside. The outside of the property is tired looking and could do with an update but the rooms are renovated and lovely. Tiled floors, updated furniture and great sizes. The kitchenette was lovely to have even though we didn’t really use it. There is no oven or stove up so keep this in mind when booking. The bathroom was a tad small but worked and the shower was great! We were in room 702 which had a lovely view towards the beach but note that this level also houses the electrical stuff so it is a little loud when you are trying to sleep. The tv was a smart tv but could never connect to the wifi so I would recommend them to update to have modems on each level. The outdoor pool and sauna were okay, only used it once and unfortunately the texture of the spa and pool was very rough on the skin so couldn’t stay in there long. BBQs are available for use but we didn’t use these. No housekeeping (I knew about this before booking) however the girls at reception were more than happy to provide more toilet paper/towels/tea/coffee etc with no extra cost. Overall it’s a great property and worth the visit for stays under a week!

TTrek18262175996This hotel is rated as a 4 star, but honestly, I think that is mainly due to its location. It is perfectly situated on the esplanade and so walkable to everywhere. But in terms of hotel service etc….its’ only so so. Check in was a tedious process….I had to become a member of the travel club in order to have wifi, which I think is a bit much. It’s free, but annoying to have to fill out more forms and give info for a service that is pretty standard at most hotels.. We stayed 5 nights. No housekeeping. I get wanting to be eco friendly….but really, after 3 nights at least, a visit to the room to replenish towels would be appreciated. When I did go down to the desk to get towels they were out and I was told to come back when the laundry service arrived later in the day. So odd. The smell of the room was also a bit wearing. Musty and mildewy. I don’t know if it was just this room, or the whole hotel, but it could use a bit of an update. The wear and tear is showing. The little sitting couch was super uncomfortable….too many bodies have worn that seat down and it feels like you are sinking into a pit. The bed however was good. I had relatively good sleeps if I left the window open to diffuse the moldy smell.

PPengguna TetamuThe photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. PPengguna TetamuI really loved this motel as it was very Quiet during the day and night, even though they were full with guests. The motel was very, very clean, the beds were very comfortable and there was enough room for my two young children to play. The staff at reception were so friendly and helpful in arranging a ground floor unit for me. I have noticed that many hotels in Cairns are not staffed since Covid and it was so wonderful to have friendly staff available at reception and answering phones. Thanks for a wonderful stay. I will be back.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed here for 2 nights separately due to our first hotel having issues. They were extremely accommodating so we decided to book with them again. Great rooms, nice bathroom, and great air-conditioning and fan. Made for a good night's sleep

PPengguna TetamuThis Motel was disgusting.It just smelt of cigarette smoke and a bottle of bleach.But the room was still dirty.The door did not lock properly.The shower had dirty shoe marks in it the fridge did not work and my food was spoiled.The bed was like a brick so uncomfortable and I only sat on it.I rang to get help with the fridge and they were not helpful at all.I had to move and spend more money on a motel.And still 2 wks later the manager won’t return my phone calls or emails will not refund my money.Highly recommend you never stay at this motel is absolutely disgusting.The fridge had mould in it.
