The name derives from the Latin word «Stabulum», which means a resting place for the ancient Romans, who were always stationed along the ancient consular roads: in Stabiuzzo, the station was along the Roman Postumia (coming from Genoa to Aquileia) which passed to the border with Roncadelle. The Romans established their own "stabula" every sixty kilometers: they were armed guard places.The Via Postumia passed the Piave in Traghetto and led to Oderzo.
