We have stayed at the Fairfax Marriott Fair Oaks 25+ times over the last 8 years while visiting our son and his wife who live in Fairfax. Additionally, we have frequently had friends and family stay there while visiting too. Originally, we loved the hotel, but it has increasingly become worn and in disrepair. This past weekend will likely be the last time we stay there, unless measures are taken to correct many of the issues we so disappointedly encountered. A large group of us traveled to Fairfax and all booked rooms at the hotel (10 rooms) . We found the rooms in need of better cleaning and physical and mechanical repairs. It started when I arrived, got to the room which was not very clean, had torn draperies, and an air conditioner which clanged constantly. The maintenance man, who was lovely, came promptly to try to fix the noise issue, but could not. As a result, my room was changed to another floor, with no one helping me. The next room, had a very dark entry from the hall, as the lights there were not working. Upon entry, the room was also in need of a better cleaning, the door handle was falling off, and the faucets needed repair. When family and friends arrived, they too were certainly not thrilled with their rooms for similar reasons. Well before coming, I spoke with the front desk and hospitality agent about the possibility of having a space available to greet family and friends as the arrived and so we could spend a bit of time together. Although they said yes, the next day I received a email from the banquet manager, stating there were no such spaces available. In the past, we’ve used a hospitality room there for this purpose, but I was told there was absolutely no way they could accommodate my request. On The night when guests arrived, the hospitality roo off of the main lobby was in fact vacant all night, but the front desk manager said we needed to ask for it in advance to get tables and chairs. I had that request, in writing, but it did not matter. They did finally make a space arrangement for us when they realized we were simply going to stay in the lobby., because they did not want some of the children ‘running wild,’ in the lobby. Overall, the hotel and staff did not do much to be accommodating or welcoming, with a few notable exceptions (the woman overseeing the restaurant for breakfast was very kind and helpful). We are Marriott Bonvoy members, and ad stated earlier, have been frequent guests at this hotel. Unless significant changes are implemented very shortly, we will choose to stay elsewhere, as there are many fine options in this area.

Very good hotel situation. The location is great to get to the WA mall quickly. The lower/ground floor was very clean and service was excellent (Way-to-go MIMI!!) However, when you go into the upper floors the rest of the hotel smells very musty. The rooms are adequately cleaned but still smell musty/damp. Overall a good experience and would stay again.

Your website advertised a shuttle to the metro. That’s why we chose this site. There was no shuttle. The new manager was very nice but was unable to get us a refund because we booked third party. Today is my wife's birthday, so I went to a restaurant thinking about breakfast. However, the restaurant is closed, and there is a bistro next to it, but instead of serving the food on a plate like McDonald's, they made it by rolling it on paper. Also, the prices(11$) were high and the staff were unfriendly. I don't want to use the restaurant again.

My husband and I stayed here two nights at Christmas time while visiting relatives near Reston, VA. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel in general and our room in particular. It was one of the cleanest rooms we have stayed in and we travel frequently. The breakfast was outstanding. It was above the standard breakfast included type. Everything was well stocked and there was plenty of choice. The only slight criticism is that while the beds are comfortable, they are not the fantastically comfortable beds used in the full service Marriott hotels. We had a room in the part of the hotel closest to the road and it was perfectly quiet. The way this hotel is laid out, I would think all the rooms would be quiet.

The hotel does NOT have a spa or pool so that needs to be corrected. The hotel does have excellent accommodations! The AKB bar is fantastic and has a hh. Breakfast is great. The fresh made muffins are yummy! Ty in the bar is a gem! She created a martini for the cherry blossom season, and it was fabulous! Everyone is nice and willing to be as helpful as you need. Umbrellas for loan were a great plus as it was raining. The Mosaic District has great shops and restaurants. There's a Target a minute walk away! If you are going to DC, skip those old hotels and stay here for better price and accommodations. Its a 15 min walk to the metro or uber is at the ready. I definitely recommend and hope I get to come back! Slippers and Robes were also a nice extra!

A nice hotel with spacious rooms and a good, regular shuttle to the airport—if it’s 10-15 minutes, so not exactly an airport-adjacent hotel. I arrived late and left early but the staff was helpful and welcoming and the room was quite large, a good bathroom in which to freshen up. I would happily stay again.

I recently returned to this place and my previous review still holds true. Look under Oct. 7 2020. TA will not let me post a link on this review. Still an older hotel that is a great value. Just updating on the breakfast. It is no longer a grab and go breakfast. It is a sit down breakfast. While not something to write about back home, it is decent enough to fill you up to start the day. I would like to contrast this breakfast with the nearby Hawthorne Suites. They also have breakfast back but it is so simple that even I would skip it. The breakfast here is definitely much much better. Incidentally, I found there is a Korean restaurant to the left (facing the hotel) of the hotel. Cross the parking lot and it's there. Maybe 4-5 minutes walk. Tops. Still a very good budget hotel. If you are expecting much more, then don't. You are not charged that much either. BTW, service is still very good. My coffee maker in the room leaked. While this will elicit crazy reviews, I elect to see what the hotel will do. I reported it. Within a few minutes someone came with a brand new one still in its plastic wrapper.

I use to stay here when it was Hawthorne suites and it seems the new owners have only half stepped with the hotel. The breakfast is basic, eggs and sausage Pattie’s with the bagels and English muffins being cut into smaller portions. No cereal or fruit. The pool is closed and the laundry room is closed ( although there was a sign saying it would be open on the 5th, it was not ) the gym is extremely small with no ventilation and huge piles of towels blocking a good majority of the floor. The rooms have had the carpet removed which is great however the walls need to be deep cleaned. Towels are extremely small. Water pressure in both the bathroom and kitchen is terrible. They no longer provide wash cloths for the kitchen or dish soap. It’s not terrible but there is for sure room for improvement

Enjoy the Tyson’s Corner area witch’s stay at the Double Tree. The silver line makes the trip from the airport easy, so you don’t have to worry about an expensive Uber. The staff is great; but be sure to ask for your room to be cleaned and any water bottles you may need. Aside from that, it’s a good place to stay whether your visiting DC or northern Virginia. I would also suggest going across the street to the mall. It’s been upgraded with a very large selection of great food.

When family and friends arrived, they too were certainly not thrilled with their rooms for similar reasons. Well before coming, I spoke with the front desk and hospitality agent about the possibility of having a space available to greet family and friends as the arrived and so we could spend a bit of time together. Although they said yes, the next day I received a email from the banquet manager, stating there were no such spaces available. In the past, we’ve used a hospitality room there for this purpose, but I was told there was absolutely no way they could accommodate my request. On The night when guests arrived, the hospitality roo off of the main lobby was in fact vacant all night, but the front desk manager said we needed to ask for it in advance to get tables and chairs. I had that request, in writing, but it did not matter. They did finally make a space arrangement for us when they realized we were simply going to stay in the lobby., because they did not want some of the children ‘running wild,’ in the lobby. Overall, the hotel and staff did not do much to be accommodating or welcoming, with a few notable exceptions (the woman overseeing the restaurant for breakfast was very kind and helpful). We are Marriott Bonvoy members, and ad stated earlier, have been frequent guests at this hotel. Unless significant changes are implemented very shortly, we will choose to stay elsewhere, as there are many fine options in this area.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights at the end of March 2023. On arrival, we noticed that there was a cherry picker outside the hotel and that work appeared to be happening. At reception, there was a piece of paper taped to the desk explaining that building renovations had now been finished and that painting was all that was still being carried out - and that this would not happen outside 9-6. The check-in staff member advised that we would have to request a room refresh as Hampton Inn no longer did so - until the 5th night. We were on a 2-night stay. I asked the reason for this and he told me it was connected to Covid. When I pointed out that this no longer seemed a current reason he told me that it 'depends on which policy you read'. To me this is cost-cutting. The room was, however, lovely and recently refreshed. It was spotless. I agreed with the other reviewer about the lack of sound insulation through doors. We could hear everything out in the hallway - when someone went into the room next door or opposite it was so loud that it felt like they were coming into our room. We could also hear into the next-door bathroom. That was the only downside. That and the fact that we forgot to ask for that room refresh after all. Breakfast was standard.

Hard to add to all the other reviews I have done of this property. I stay here at least once a year, and it never disappoints. The room is clean and quiet, the bed is comfortable, the breakfast is good and the staff is fantastic. Didn't use the pool, but it looked clean, and the fitness room is just perfect. Do yourself a favor and try out this great Hampton Inn near Dulles.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites Dulles Airport Chantilly is a decent hotel near Dulles airport and centrally located within Northern Virginia. I have stayed at least one night a week for the past year and keep coming back for many reasons. One is the quality of service provided by both Nassir in the evening at the front desk and Sandra in the morning during breakfast in their lounge. These two employees always go above and beyond to ensure each guest is recognized and helped with any requests. Nassir has been consistently attentive to my room requests, ensuring all my needs are met and providing excellent customer service. Sandra always ensures that breakfast items are available, guests are greeted, and she also makes sure that they come out with a smile after breakfast. One small token of appreciation I have seen her do is to provide a small candy to each guest after they finish breakfast and wish them a great day. You don't see that often in a Fairfield Inn, but in higher-end hotels where attention to detail is always relevant. These two employees genuinely deserve a lot of credit for the work that they do. Regardless of any criticism in other reviews about this property, when a staff member goes above and beyond to ensure that guests are recognized and treated fairly, it does make it easier to come back to this property. I would highly recommend it and continue returning because these two employees love what they do.

Comfortable and efficient room with nice fresh bedding. Other features I liked: a shelf to place and open up at least two pieces of luggage, three large hooks over the shelf to hang coats or shirts, a long desk top with a chair and a hassock to sit on, lots of charger outlets, bright lighting in the bathroom, adequate towels, a small closet with hangers, a full length mirror, Antonios, a nearby Italian restaurant that delivers, good pizza too. Courteous efficient check-in. (Haven’t had breakfast yet.) Good value. Plenty parking. Negatives: only one Kuerig coffee (usually at least two), TV reception was constantly breaking up and we’re watching the college playoff game live (why would this happen?), hair on the bathroom floor. Would stay here again.

Located just 10 minutes drive from Potomac Mills the hotel is located a way away from the I95, visible only in the distance. Some traffic noise from our room but not significant. Check in was friendly, efficient and helpful. We were given a list of dining options by the receptionist. The room was freshly renovated, extremely clean and very comfortable. We ended up dining a few minutes drive away. There were plenty of options from about 0.1 miles away as well as delivery. Breakfast was standard Hampton Inn and absolutely fine. Would recommend.

I have stayed here before, and it has come down hill. I'm trying to think of where I started. Ah - I asked the clerk on duty about breakfast - he said scrambled eggs were part of breakfast. Nope . Breakfast sandwich, with no real information on the package itself. The breakfast was far below what I have seen over the past six months, Minor things like enough coffee for two sharing a king size bed. Nope. Two packs of regular , one of decaf. The tub/shower had a used bar of motel soap in the soap dish. I had problems getting on the internet. While I finally did, the clerk on duty said, ”Sorry. Can't help you.” Despite what Choice Hotels wants staff to do, they no longer provide a morning paper to Choice Privilege members - and I'm a diamond member. The same is true of their Dulles shuttle. - the shuttle sign is up but the bus is hidden behind the motel . They still have the sign and then bus, but they are not using it. It is obvious that some sort of improvement is going on, but I saw no action on it. I really think that Choice Hotels needs to investigate this motel. I am disappointed based on my last stay here.

Very good hotel situation. The location is great to get to the WA mall quickly. The lower/ground floor was very clean and service was excellent (Way-to-go MIMI!!) However, when you go into the upper floors the rest of the hotel smells very musty. The rooms are adequately cleaned but still smell musty/damp. Overall a good experience and would stay again.
