Hotel 3 Bintang di Gurnee

We chose this Holiday Inn because of its convenient location to shopping and restaurants. It’s right off the freeway, and easy to access. Tried to check in late afternoon (about 2:30 pm) and when I walked in to the hotel, front desk area, there was no one around. No one at the front desk. I’ve traveled a lot, and I can honestly say I’ve never encountered an empty front desk. I waited a few minutes, thinking to myself they’re possibly on a phone call in back - but after waiting a good 10 minutes and yelling out “HELLO- HELLO” I was still standing there waiting. I walked around a bit, finally found a friendly face in the laundry area, and she helped me. Once the front desk gal came out, she gave me a snotty “can I help you?” - and I’m thinking “really? No I’m sorry to keep you waiting?” Ugh. Once she started to check me in it did go quickly and smoothly - just frustrating that she never apologized or explained why I was kept waiting. I find it rude and poor customer service. Our room was not anything special - 2 double beds and standard bathroom. The walls are really thin, and we could hear the young kids having fun running up and down the halls (doesn’t bother me) and people talking while walking by our room. Our door stated check out was 12 noon, but it was actually 11 am. We were in our room at 11:10 and got a phone call that we needed to leave. All in all - this isn’t a bad hotel. The pool is really nice (hot tub was closed due to COVID) and there is a nice restaurant that offered dinner and had a bar that served drinks. Breakfast is an extra $10. We did not get their breakfast. Gurnee is a nice area with a lot of nice restaurants- shopping Mall is also a nice plus. I would stay here again if in the area - and just hope for better check in service!!

They are the biggest scam artist I know. This was our 3rd year going as Multi family of 10 and booking a suit for 10. First I booked and I heard nothing. A month later I called and they said the hotel accidentally cancelled but didn’t inform me. So I booked with an agent. The balance was paid and it was zero. 0.00.. Received reservation breakdown showing zero balance. Two days later I received another invoice saying I owed hundreds.. I called and they said room rate hikes took place and they apologized and took off.. Again I received a new email showing zero balance. Later on I added 1 wolf badge to my reservation.. Next day I received another reservation printout and it showed several hundreds.. I called yet again. This time the reservation clerk showing me with 13 wolf badges at such a ridiculous price when it was only supposed to be 8.. Another attempt to scam customer.. There was 3 more calls and unfortunately more charges that kept coming but when I called they supposedly fixed them.. On the Friday I left I stood in long line at front desk and ask what I owe. The employee told me I owed nothing. I told her I would be upset if I drove away and my card gets charged.. Well, I left and 25 minutes later my card gets charged 267.00.. I got home and called.. Of course I was switched from place to place and they said it was because my voyager points were issued wrong.. Well my money still hasn’t been refunded.. It’s been 8 days and no one has responded to emails. This goes on top of us getting there and front desk employee telling us our suit is clean but only needs inspection so go ahead and get our luggage.. We gout our luggage and sat in lobby for almost 2 hrs.. Couldn’t swim or anything with our luggage sitting in plain site in lobby.. Such a horrible run system.. And PS at check in DO NOT PAY FOR PARKING.. Its a scam and no one checks.. Thats why front desk clerks try to demand you pay parking.. No one checks.. If GWL wants to make a policy then at least comply with it and not only make the honest people do it.. Wont be back and extremely disappointed!!

The staff was very friendly and polite, even helped me save money on the booking by asking a few questions and join the free rewards program. .Clean hotels and rooms. In a convenient location only a few minutes from 6 Flags amusement park, with numerous restaurants and stores in the area it was very convenient to find anything you might want.Nice breakfast was included, enjoyable stay. Will definitely be back in future travels.

The hotel is ok. There are like 6 hotels right by each other that may be better. I know Holiday Inn is super nice but pool was closed. We stayed here to go to Great America and it was ok. Pool and spa area is tiny! The hot tub was just luke warm. The rooms are ok but dated. The bathrooms are also very small. But the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The worst is we were on the first floor and the curtains don’t close all the way. Only the shear drape. So when your air conditioning is on it blows the drape around and people can see in. Also at night the lights outside are so bright that you have that in your room all night long. Probably would check another hotel out in the area before staying here again .
