The staff was overworked and so difficult to find when needed. It took 15 minutes to find the actual hotel because they closed its primary entrance and redirected entry through one of its partner hotels. After walking around and around and being ignored by a number of the staff, we then had to wait for over 40 minutes for someone to appear at reception to check in. To be fair, once the staff did show up, there were several nice individuals, but I think they were extremely overworked. Because it was so late we opted to eat in one of their restaurants and had the same issue, waiting almost 40 minutes to order and then even longer for the meal to be served. When finally we checked in, to get to the room, one had take our bags we had just brought up back down the stairs, leave the building, mount a second larger stair, walk around the back of the building, go down two flights of stairs, enter another door and then up two more flights of very narrow, circular stairs with all our bags. We were offered no help from the staff. I'm pretty sturdy but still, this was a lot of work. If you're older, I'd say this is just not possible. When we got to the room, it was very tight. I like small spaces, but this was extreme, especially for the price. For my wife to get to the bathroom at night, it was impossible to do without bumping into me and waking me up. The seagulls roosting on the roof right outside the window were insane and did not stop squalling until 2-3 in the morning, and then up again around 5 in the morning. I could have tolerated some of this, but for the price, it was just too much. St. Michel is a spectacular place but so thick with tourists it becomes almost impossible to appreciate. The food is horrible everywhere and one can tell everyone who works there is just tired of dealing with tourists. I would not recommend staying on the island at all, but for anyone who really wants to give it a go I would say so not even think of staying more than 1 day.

This is a very nice, comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It is very charming to stay here. The breakfast is tasty also and a good value. We had a loft room. I slept on the main level (where, to my delight, windows looked out on the bay) and my daughters slept in the loft. We had read in some reviews that the hotel can be noisy, in terms of street noise, but we didn't notice that at all.

We stayed here for one night. Booked with *********** Was given good clear instructions about the access code, and the ticket which includes the shuttle bus at extra cost. Check in was efficient. The room was small but adequate.we had a dog with us. Very quirky style in furnishings in the room and throughout the hotel. Breakfast was ok. The hotel had free car parking. Very good location 25 minute walk to Mont St Michel.although there is a free shuttle bus right outside the hotel we were not allowed to use it Only small dogs under 10 KG allowed on the shuttle bus. .when we checked out we left behind my husband’s black puffa jacket in the room. Having made enquiries about it they don’t have it which I find strange as the garment was 100% left behind I can only draw my own conclusions as to what happened to the jacket .So my advice is to check the room on your departure as anything left behind you won’t see again... very disappointing and not what I was expecting. V Very strang

Our hotel rooms were spotless and - as expected- small, historic and comfortable. The only issue with our accommodations was the lack of information given us when booking concerning how and where to check in. Booking was via the Mont Saint-Michel site- quite easy and efficient. Unfortunately, no information concerning HOW we were to physically check in was supplied with our reservation. We discovered- after an hour of dragging suitcases up and down steep steps amidst hordes of tourists clogging the main thoroughfare- that there is apparently a centralized ”check in” site for the various local hotels- a fact which we were not aware of...the site discovered only through the kindness of locals. After said check in we were directed to our rooms- which were actually in an annex near a church....not, again, a free-standing hotel, per se. Please note that the breakfast was actually served in a side room of the restaurant of the Mouton Blanc Auberge- which we then realized must be a hotel...just not the site of our actual rooms. Confused? Yes. in summary, be aware of the check-in snafu and all shall be well. subsequent check-out took approximately two minutes in the same centralized locale. the hotel rooms are lovely, simple, well- appointed, and situated in an obviously astonishing locale that is well- worth the climb. Just pay attention to the above....and PACK LIGHT

The hotel was great but the attached restaurant , L’Hippocampe, was FANTASTIC. Vegetarian and seafood based menu. Amazing and beautifully created dishes. Karen, the server, was delightful and friendly. We went to this restaurant both nights in Mont Saint Michel because it was so special. We loved touring the Abbey and taking walks along the Cyprus trees. Hotel very comfortable and friendly. Loved our stay here. — Lisa from DC
