We had a wonderful 3-night stay here and truly enjoyed every moment. The hotel offers beautiful views and a peaceful, zen-like atmosphere that made it the perfect place to relax after exploring Dali. One of our favourite spots was the lovely garden and reading area, which is beautifully maintained and creates a calm, relaxing environment. Whether enjoying a quiet morning or winding down in the evening, it added so much charm to our stay. The lady boss was incredibly warm, kind, and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. She even took the time to prepare tea for us and chat with us, which made our stay feel especially personal and memorable. The daily breakfast was simple, healthy, and thoughtfully prepared, lovely way to start each day. The location is also very convenient, being close to both Dali Ancient Town and Cangshan, making it easy to get around and explore the area. A special touch was the complimentary one-way transfer to the train station, which made our departure smooth and hassle-free. Every staff member we met was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We were also excited to hear that the hotel is adding more amenities and facilities, so future guests will have even more to look forward to. It’s clear that the owners care deeply about their guests and are constantly working to make the experience even better. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality. We left feeling refreshed, well cared for, and with beautiful memories of Dali. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic stay.

Oh my god, I randomly stumbled upon this hidden gem of a homestay and it’s an absolute game-changer! It’s just a 5-minute walk from Dali Ancient Town, and getting a taxi to other places is a breeze. Like, transportation here couldn’t be more convenient! The place is straight-up stunning—so peaceful, chic, and seriously, it’s a photographer’s dream! I’m not even joking, you’ll be snapping pics non-stop!!!! Every corner screams Instagram-worthy!!!!!! Did I mention it’s perfect for photo ops???? 😂 And get this—the owner’s got a whole stash of great wine, the service is excellent, and their coffee? Holy moly, it’s mind-blowing! I was so not expecting that. For real, this is hands down the best homestay I’ve ever crashed at. No contest! If you’re heading to Dali, do yourself a favor and BOOK THIS PLACE. Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

Mutian Time Designer Guesthouse, Dali | A poetic stay in a century-old Bai courtyard We’ve just returned from Dali, and the place we keep thinking about most is this hidden gem at the foot of Cangshan Mountain — Mutian Time Designer Guesthouse. Oriental aesthetics in every corner The guesthouse is converted from a century-old traditional Bai courtyard house. With its grey-tiled roofs, white walls, and beautifully carved wooden structures, the space carries a quiet sense of history and elegance. The courtyard features water elements, stone paths, and blue and yellow lanterns that create beautiful layers of light and shadow during the day. At night, the soft lighting outlines the architecture and gives the entire space a warm, cinematic atmosphere. The common areas are equally charming, with a stone-built fireplace, vintage furniture, and art pieces thoughtfully placed throughout. The design blends traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern touches, creating a space that feels both timeless and refined. Comfort with thoughtful details Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable. A stone feature wall behind the bed, paired with soft bedding and warm lighting, created a subtle sense of “wild luxury” while still feeling cosy and relaxed. Opening the window reveals the courtyard view — waking up to birdsong in the morning and watching the lanterns glow in the evening adds a special charm to the stay. Warm and attentive service From booking to check-out, the hosts were welcoming and attentive. Upon arrival, they introduced the history of the house and highlighted the design features of the property, and were happy to recommend nearby restaurants and local spots to explore. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with fresh fruit and delicate snacks — perfect for enjoying a slow afternoon in the courtyard. Breakfast included some local Bai-style flavours, simple yet delicious, and a lovely way to start the day. A peaceful location near the old town The guesthouse is tucked away in Zhongyin Village at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, about a 15-minute drive from Dali Ancient Town. It offers a quiet retreat away from the crowds while still being conveniently close to the main attractions. Surrounded by village life and forested hills, the air feels fresh and full of the scent of nature. More than just a place to stay, Mutian Time feels like a living piece of art. It brought a sense of calm and poetry to our trip to Dali. We had a wonderful two-night stay at Dali Twelve Clouds Villa Seaview Hotel (Erhai Branch).😊 The view of the lake from our room was stunning, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the breakfast was very, very good — plenty of variety and really fresh. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and great value for money. A special mention goes to Zhang Feng, who truly made our stay outstanding. Even though we arrived late at night, he checked us in smoothly and went above and beyond to help us. We didn’t have access to the local food apps, but he kindly used his own to order food for us when we were hungry, making sure everything was taken care of. Throughout our stay, he was attentive, kind, and always ready to help with anything we needed. His hospitality really stood out. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful scenery, comfortable rooms, and genuine hospitality. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if you meet Zhang Feng, you’ll be in very good hands!😊

Excellent boutique hotel at the fringe of Dali ancient city. Walking distance to the 3 Pagodas, with an excellent view of Cangshan mountain in the background. Hotel beautifully landscaped, lots of greenery with outdoor seating to relax and listed to birds chirping. Room was clean and well maintained. Snacks , drinks and fruits refilled daily. Only negative was the extra bed for my child. Very hard mattress and the frame squeaks and groans when someone moves on it. They should upgrade this. Service was excellent . Six stars! Warm, friendly and thoughtful. Always with a smile and willing to help. We did a little laundry and was drying by the bathtub. Housekeeping noticed and brought in a clothes rack and hung the clothes in the courtyard so it dries better. Wonderful initiative! We did many food deliveries and they happily brought it to our room. Manager was great also. Always checking if we were ok and ready to provide helpful tips. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was limited but good quality and sufficient. Dinner was ok as well, local cuisine. On our departure, they gave us fruits , snacks and water for our onward trip. Highly recommended

Their service is amazing when you're with them but they take forever to reply when trying to contact them before the stay. I was trying to get hold of them for a logistical issue. Other than that, they did wonders in making sure I felt comfortable. There's this tram that needs to be booked by then when we arrive. They are very quick in responding to me whenever I needed it which made the experience very seamless.

Absolutely loved this hotel during my stay in Dali. The hotel was very convenient for me as it was in a slightly quieter area and I was able to relax. There were several constructions going on along the road for new villas but it seemed unavoidable as there was really a lot of them every few hundred metres or so. The host was really warm and welcoming, also really helpful. They helped me retrieve my luggage up to my room on my first day and back down to the car on my last. They often checked in to give tips around the area and made small talk which helped me a lot as a solo traveller. She provided me recommendations, offered to help with any delivery related items as I did not have a chinese number, and even helped me make coffee. Their farewell gift to me was surprisingly some sour plums (their specialised gift) that I had been contemplating to purchase while in the ancient towns, and it really solidified the whole idea of the hotel for me. My booking had breakfast included and every morning the breakfast they prepared (although simple) is delicious. Their dining hall area is comfortably decorated and looks really lovely. As for my room, I absolutely loved the layout and space catered. The smart curtains, projector and all gave me privacy and entertainment while resting. I didn’t get to use the bathtub as it was too cold for me despite the heater, but I really appreciated all the available disposable bath covers/vanity kits/bath essentials/toilet covers. The balcony was my go to place to relax and have hot tea. The separated bathrooms were spacious and functional, and the powder area had a good space for me to do my necessary preparations.

I had an absolutely satisfying stay at Hilton Dali Resort & Spa and highly recommend this property. Perched halfway up Cangshan Mountain, the hotel is conveniently situated near Jizhao Nunnery for Cangshan hiking trips, and Dali Ancient Town is a short affordable Didi ride away with abundant available cars, making transportation effortless. Our high-floor room offered stunning panoramic views of Erhai Lake from the private balcony. The room is exceptionally spacious with complete amenities; the bathroom is neatly designed with wet-dry separation. The daily breakfast buffet features an extensive selection of dishes covering diverse tastes. Special praise goes to lobby manager Herman. We encountered a small friction during pre-arrival communication, which was properly resolved thanks to Herman’s coordination. He also helped secure a complimentary room upgrade for us in advance. Throughout our stay, Herman and Beata consistently provided attentive help: collecting our takeout, answering all travel questions patiently, and he even took the initiative to apply for a late check-out for us. His thoughtful and efficient service greatly improved our whole trip. With superb location, wonderful facilities and warm personalised service, it was a flawless hotel experience, and I will definitely book here again on my next visit to Dali.

Outstanding service and room quality! Really appreciative of Judy and the other customer service staff who went out of their way to make the stay truly phenomenal! Being up the mountainside, the view was amazing and the villa grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Any issues and queries we had were answered promptly and resolved fast. It’s a short car ride to the old town, and it’s easy to call a car at the villa. Would recommend this place for travellers who want a place to relax and enjoy their time in Dali! Thanks Judy!! (:
