This hotel is well worth a visit. In a tastefully converted church and immediately adjacent to the best park in Nantes. We loved everything about the hotel - from the comfy beds to the delicious (and large) breakfasts. The decor is modern and imaginative. The location is quiet and safe and easily walkable to the castle, museums and shopping.

I strongly advise against staying at this hotel, especially during the summer months. The hotel falsely advertises air-conditioned rooms. While there is an air conditioning unit in the room, it completely fails to cool the space. Despite multiple complaints to the reception, the issue was never resolved. Staff provided inconsistent information and solutions, often resulting in delays or no action at all. To make matters worse, the room cleaning was substandard with frequent omissions such as trash removal and vacuuming. I was forced to visit the reception daily to request missing services.

We had an issue with the floor of our bathroom being wet. After using the shower, we noticed it was leaking from under the bath. This was reported, but we were told as it was late it would not be possible to have it looked at. We were offered to move rooms, but as this was a joint room, we could use the bathroom of the other room so stayed. We mentioned the issue again the next day on check out and this receptionist was not aware but said she would have it looked at. The following day I had €200 deducted from my bank. I rang up to see why and was accused of making a mess in the bathroom, flooding it. I was told a technician could not find an issue and so it must be ‘guest error’. After multiple calls about the issue I finally received a call and was told that after a visit from a second technician, there actually was an issue and received an apology. While I appreciate the apology, I wasted a morning of my holiday worrying and dealing with this issue and do not appreciate having a random fine deducted from my card with absolutely no communication beforehand. There appears to be no system for staff to log issues reported by guests, as if the issue was communicated effectively to the morning staff, they would have been fully aware and would have had that staff members testimony. Instead I was told that they would have to wait until that staff member started later in the day to get ‘her side of the story’. In summary instead of receiving an apology for a fault in our room, we received an accusation and a fine. The poor communication made this all the worse. If this is the type of service Best Western are proud of, I will certainly not be returning or recommending your hotels.

I absolutely would not recommend this hotel for anyone! We stayed at this hotel recently and were disgusted with the conditions! The rooms were dirty, the bathrooms grout was yellow and dirty with poo on the wall next to toilet. After a long travel and 44 degree heat when we checked in the hotel took 300 euros from our card, in their words to pay for ”damages”. I disputed this as I didn't agree with such a large amount being taken for a security deposit. They told me it would be refunded on check out and the receptionist was rude and did not care. This amount was not for charges to the room as when I checked out I had to pay for a coffee and taxes separate on top of the deposit! When we checked out they would not refund the money and I had to stand and argue with the rude reception staff for 30 minutes before they would refund in front of me. When we went to the room, the air con was broken and the thermostat to change the temperature was damaged with all the buttons broken out. If they are taking £300 for damages this should have been fixed and the room should not have been allowed to have people stay in it. When I complained they took about 3 hours to change our room and then instead of giving me the keys gave the keys to my son who had no idea what was happening so didn't tell me about it! I questioned them as to why they were giving the keys to a child and not an adult and they were rude and did not care. When we moved rooms the room was dirty too and there was an ant infestation. All night and the next morning we were killing ants and found them crawling over our clothes and belongings and then found ant powder all over the floor. clearing the hotel has an ant infestation that they already know about so we shouldn't have been put in that room and also I then had to keep my1 year old baby away from the dangerous chemicals! This is disgusting and the hotel should be removed from sale!!

PPengguna TetamuVery nice staff, pretty hotel, right across from the gare and tram, around the corner from the castle and old town center. Those are the “goods”. However, we were given family room 111 which faces the street. The air conditioning was not working well, and when we opened the windows, there was the sound of the train, people fighting, or couples. We asked to have the air fixed but were just as uncomfortable the second night. The “rooms” are separated by sliding bamboo curtains, which made it impossible to sleep until the last person went to bed. Breakfast was very sp**** at the €14 per person charge. But reception staff was impeccably nice. I think we would choose a real hotel with real beds and real doors next time.

QQuest827249The Hotel is well placed in a quiet street very close to Place Graslin. The staff are excellent and the breakfast is good with a plentiful supply of quality food including some local produce. Our biggest complaint was that having paid for a premium room there were some issues which made it less than comfortable. Room 226 has a separate toilet to the bathroom with no wash basin so that you have to walk across the room to wash your hands. It also meant that the toilet was a small cupboard. The room was a good size but only had one chair and the biggest inconvenience was that there were no bedside cabinets or even a shelve. In fact storage space was very limited the wardrobe was an open hanging rail. I raised this with reception to be told that was what was provided. It was not until a couple of days later when all the rooms were being cleaned (and doors were left open) that we noted every room had bedside cupboards or shelves and that most had a wardrobe with a door. I am sure that this could be put right in a premium room but it did become an annoyance especially as we both wera glasses and it is very useful to be able to put them close at hand when you go to sleep.

Excellent surprise for this hotel conveniently located between Nantes city center and on the way to the airport if catching a plane. I booked a one-night stay (04th - 05th December 2021) also based on the positive reviews read on Google and ***********. My stay in room 304 was extremely pleasant as the room is perfectly located on the courtyard, providing a quiet surrounding. The room itself is big and I was particularly impressed by its cleanliness. Furthermore, check in and check out at reception was very smooth and handled professionally. Talking to the reception team, it is obvious they genuinely like their job in the hospitality business. Their commitment, all the more resounding in this time of uncertainty, is pleasant and warm to witness. Next time in Nantes, I have found my preferred hotel :-)

PPengguna TetamuThis hotel is in a fabulous location. Bars, restaurants and shops all nearby. However the staff are not of the same quality. Our room had a bath but the plug did not work and so the water just drained out as fast as it came out of the taps. The device on the side of the bath was broken and thus the plug was useless. I mentioned to the girl on reception that there was a problem with the bath and it needed fixing. She told me she would get it fixed. Nobody arrived to fix it that day so I explained the situation to another girl the following day. Again nothing happened. Both girls were not interested and ghisvreflects very poorly on the hotel and the Mercure group in general.

Chosen mainly because it offered secure car parking together with location and a reasonable price. It’s not at the heart of the city but close enough and everything within walking distance. When arriving by car, pop into the hotel to get the car park remote and detailed instructions on how to access. Despite it seeming complicated the lift from the car park comes up in reception. We had booked a studio apartment but got a one bed. Comfortable bed, shower worked well. Spacious sitting room. This is not a luxurious place but it was clean, everything worked and the staff were great - especially the Mexican lady working mornings. It represents a solid choice.

Ce n’est pas un 3* ou du moins n’en ont pas les services. Pas de bouteille d’eau… Pas de chevalet pour la valise… Chambre petite bien que j’ai pris la supérieure. Pas de verre à la salle de bain!!! Douche petite. Bref je n’y reviendrai pas de plus le matin lorsque j’ai rendu mes clef la jeune femme a été à peine polie même pas au revoir juste merci pour les clefs alors qu’elle rangeait le bar peut-être l’ai-je dérangé ? Désolé je ne vous importunerai plus.

Habitué d'un hôtel 2* assez proche mais sans ascenseur, j'ai choisi cet hôtel Astoria 3* à l'occasion d'un voyage avec mon épouse et ma fille pour ”leur offrir un peu plus de confort”. Mal m'en a pris. D'une part, les chambres de l'hôtel Astoria sont petites, aménagées sans aucun goût, quelques petites étagères en guise d'ameublement, une salle de bain réduite avec une douche étroite et sans rideau ce qui permet d'inonder la salle de bain à chaque coup. Pour cette venue, l'ascenseur était un point important, eh bien l'ascenseur était en panne ”depuis hier” (une classique dans les réponses de ce type) et n'a pas été remis en marche durant notre séjour, ce qui ne s'est même pas traduit par ”un geste commercial” de la part de l'hôtel. Quant au petit-déjeuner, le choix est maigre pour les 11 euros demandés. En résumé, un séjour beaucoup plus cher que d'habitude pour 1* de plus et du confort en moins.

PPengguna TetamuIntrusion of Privacy Overall, we were OK with the hotel until one morning when someone knocked on the door. It was 9:30am on a Friday and we were not ready. Two staff asked if they could enter the room to count the towels and linen, ”pour compter le linge”. My wife was still in pyjamas, and we felt like a complete INTRUSION of our PRIVACY. They touched the bed linen with their hands, they looked around the room as if they were looking for something or if they were police. My regret was I should have asked for IDs before letting them in or call reception. Like I said, we were not quite awake, I wasn't ready for this, and this was so completely weird. It felt completely unnecessary. I have dual citizenship French and British, this wasn't a language problem. I can't imagine how someone who wouldn't speak French could process this situation. We have decided to never use this hotel group again as a result and waited over a month before writing this review. ---- The hotel replied my husband. We cannot accept all of their excuses For Intrusion of Privacy! 1/ The hotel said, they posted a notice inside the lift. But we didn't see any notice - they can come into customers' rooms to check/ count a towel anytime. Normally, if you have a customer/ traveller, you will not read all notices inside a lift with some heavy suitcases. It seems the hotel just wants to find an excuse to deny their faults - 2 staff went to our room when we just woke up with our pyjamas at 9:30am. Also, it doesn't make sense. That's meant - the hotel staff can do anything they want that they can go to customer room anytime if they post any notice. They should inform all our customers when we check in face to face at the counter. Besides, we needed to use a card access the lift to go up. It's also very annoying as the cards didn't work a few times, so we needed to go back to a reception to refix our cards during 4 nights stay. If they really posted a notice - How can every customer can read this notice because we had the cards problems already ??? 2/ the hotel messages also make us feel more upset and disappointed. They told us, actually, 2 staff were a hotel director and reception manager who got into our room to count a towl at 9:30am. They didn't show us their staff card / ID. The didn't say they were a hotel director and receiption manager. I asked my friend who is working in one international brand hotel. She, this Nantes hotel made a big trouble and fault..So, it's not acceptable. Since a customer rents a room, a staff should not get into a customer room except a cleaner or having an emergency situation. We DID put a sign - DON'T DISTURB. 2 staff still knocked our door and they needed to go in. Honestly, they are a hotel director and receiption manager who should know more hotel rules than a junior staff. We cannot accept these kinds of excuses. We would not rent this brand of hotel anymore. Not Recommended.

I was there for three weeks and the staff were always very helpful and all around lovely people, some also spoke english fluently i found this very professional and it truly felt like home for this whole month. Special thank you to Lila who was so helpful and kind.
