Arrival process We arrived at 1425 and were booked on the 1815 internal flight, they met us on arrival and rushed us through to move us onto an earlier flight at 1435 which was running late (departed at 1630). Our luggage was 22kgs each, but we were not charged at the airport (maybe because they were rushing us through). The flight is an hour and then you are met and taken to the boat which takes about 10 minutes. The jetty arrives on Dhigurah (will refer to as D island) and we were taken in a buggy over to Falhumaafushi (will refer to as F island) which took about 10 minutes. During check-in it became apparent that everything is already booked up, we were staying for 10 nights from the 16th of Feb and had booked 5 nights in a water bungalow and then 5 nights in a water bungalow with pool. We had enquired about Vibes private dining before arrival for which we had received menus, we asked if we could book this for our last night on the 25th for my husband’s birthday and was told it was full for the duration of our stay, you can imagine our dismay, why were we not told to book in advance? Also, you are allowed to eat in the 2 ala carte restaurants, but only 1 visit to each is permitted, these had been pre-booked by the hotel ,so we could not change them to dates we preferred as everything was booked for the next 10 nights. Eventually they were able to book Vibes for the 23rd and an extra night in the ala carte on the 25th for the birthday. We found this a bit too much after travelling for so long on arrival. The hotel needs to change its policy so that you cannot pre-book before arrival or advise everyone to do so to avoid disappointment. We were taken to our room 324, at this time it was raining very heavily, and we found our suitcases left outside the room. Once opened, 95% of all our clothes were wet, this was beyond comprehension, why would you leave bags outside a room in a location that is susceptible to unexpected rain, especially when the room is not occupied. We went back to reception to speak to the manager, he agreed to get all our clothes, washed, dried, and ironed to be returned by the following evening (2 of my husband’s shirts were ruined from the ironing as it left them shiny, which were brand new). He also upgraded our room to a deluxe overwater villa with pool (will comment later on the room). He said that he would change the process on bags being left outside rooms to avoid this in future, but we saw bags left outside doors so was disappointing to see something so easily fixed was not done. Rooms Our initial room was 324 water bungalow on the sunset side. The villa is a nice size, but there is only air conditioning in the bedroom, the living area and bathroom only have ceiling fans so would feel very hot (were glad we were not ill as that compounded with a hot toilet would not have been pretty). We were taken to our room 324, at this time it was raining very heavily, and we found our suitcases left outside the room. Once opened, 95% of all our clothes were wet, this was beyond comprehension, why would you leave bags outside a room in a location that is susceptible to unexpected rain, especially when the room is not occupied. We went back to reception to speak to the manager, he agreed to get all our clothes, washed, dried, and ironed to be returned by the following evening (2 of my husband’s shirts were ruined from the ironing as it left them shiny, which were brand new). He also upgraded our room to a deluxe overwater villa with pool (will comment later on the room). He said that he would change the process on bags being left outside rooms to avoid this in future, but we saw bags left outside doors so was disappointing to see something so easily fixed was not done.
