The Island Queen

If you do one thing at the Island Queen (after buying a drink) go right to the back of the pub and admire its beautiful painted mirrors. They're a unique feature among all the pubs I've been to. They were created in the pub's 'pot room', whatever that is, in 1979 during a period of Victorian revival and have been there since. The pub itself dates from 1851 and is grade two listed. It's a beautifully put together venue and worth visiting on a quiet day to take it all in. Mirrors aside, the etched glass in the pub is also very impressive and there's a collection of Victorian style prints on the back wall. A large statue guards the pub's fireplace too.
