HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Don't come here if you want a good time and what you payed for. We paid for 3 queen beds + 1 king bed. All we got was a room with 2 double beds + 1 single bed and an argument with a wall-faced staff member. We talked to a staff member onsite and she tried to tell us we did not need more beds and would fit perfectly in what they gave us. Mate it's not about if we fit or not. We're paying customers and thereby entitled to what we payed for. We tried to explain this to her and she had the nerve to try get us to pay $235NZ for an extra room with 1 queen bed + 1 single bed. We paid for a certain amount of beds and didn't get it and she wanted us to pay even more to still not receive the service. She tried to tell us we told them we only had 1 person staying on our booking form so we showed her our booking confirmation which clearly stated our guest number to be exactly how many people we brought. We even tried to suggest a compromise where they simply bring in an extra mattress. She refused our suggestion and kept trying to push us to pay for an extra room. She deflected all our requests to speak to another staff member, insisting that the manager shared her views. At this point she simply went back to her room despite our attempts to reason. We ended up having to BUILD a bed with two diagonally placed sofas. Upon further inspection of the rooms, we found that the showers were not very clean with spots of mould on the sides and some of the bedroom lights refused to switch on. Furthermore, one of the bedroom heaters did not function. Attached are some photos of the lights and heater. The photos of the beds with are for size reference only - taken in the morning after sleeping.

Had such a fantastic experience staying with my friends at Ahuriri Motels. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, helping us sort out a scheduling mix up by our group on our bike tour through Omarama. Accommodations were simple but extremely clean and comfortable. Excellent lodging with beautiful surroundings. Would recommend to anyone passing through.

Staff are very nice. Rooms are spacious and have all needed amenities. The negative rating for cleanliness comes from the kitchen area as to access the pans and plates you had to fight with spider webs first. The rest of the room is very clean and it was overall a nice stay

With an internal small garden and close access to laundry facilities, people can get good rest inside the hotel and have a good chance to clean clothes accumulate along the journey. The construction within the premises does not affect too much as it turns quiet after 4:30pm. The bathroom is spacious and with two windows. It makes me feel comfortable with its space ,air ventilation and brightness. Our rental car can be parked in front of the room where is located at ground floor. It is convenient.

From check in to check out management where kind, helpful, friendly, compassionate and informative. This was a refreshing considerate interaction with managers who obviously take pride in their business and care for their staff and customers. Amazing to have accommodation that dogs are welcomed and not a burden, with no extra cost or hassle. Rooms were spotlessly clean and modern, warm and very spacious. Great location, walking distance to all Dunedin's CBD amenities. Thank you again, cannot recommend Cable Court Motel enough!

I found all staff friendly and helpful from bar staff right through to the domestic staff. The facilities were basic but comfortable. And the convenience of the Bus Stop was ideal if you needed to go into the City. Thanks for the pleasant stay I had. Thanks and Regards Nathan Allan.

The beds were uncomfortable. Booked a room with double and 2 single beds for 3 people. Travelling with relative who is over 6 feet tall. No way he was able to sleep in the unusually short single beds. The lighting in the rooms is inadequate; the curtains had to be closed for privacy from people going past the room. The noise through the ceiling from the second floor was unbearable. The main sliding doors in the unit above vibrated the door in our unit when it was opened and closed. Housekeeping is simply a change of towels and replacement of coffee sachets. No cleaning. Floor was dirty when we moved in. Parking bays are not marked and seem to be insufficient for the number of units . The ”overflow parking” is at the side of the building..... very unsecured. Area around guest laundry full of litter and quite an eyesore. On opening our back door, I found a bowl of water with a number of cigarette buts floating in it. On the plus, the bathroom is good. The kitchen is acceptable but the display on the stove top is missing segments meaning it cannot be safely used (temperature digits not complete; no idea what temp is set to). Fridge makes a terrible noise when starting and stopping. Washing machines are free. There are road works going on at the front of the property which makes it dangerous and difficult to enter or leave the property. Apparently this has been going on for months. If this is the case, it should be advised in the property advertising. The roadworks jumble spoils the views of the lake and mountains. I cannot understand how anyone could give this place more than poor rating, let alone the place be advertised as 4 stars.

They were amazing. Fitted me in at the last minute after my booking agency double booked me somewhere else. Room was very clean, and had everything I needed. Ground floor also, it was set up for complete disabled occupant and would have fit the bill nicely. Easy parking and a great restaurant on site. 5 stars!

Spotless cleanliness,helpful staff,nice gardens looks great,good parking.Well designed,comfortable ,slight traffic noise but I was in compact flat at the nearest point to the road.Car park well illuminated and has guards to prevent collisions with neighbouring wall & your car - nice touch.First biscuit in complimentary teas & coffees ! Thanks I loved it ( family controlling my intake !) - don't tell the wife !.I slept well and would recommend this accomodation.Flat 9 is compact but is well designed & comfortable for one.Great complimentary coffee ! .All fixtures and fittings spotless & new it's all ship shape & Bristol fashion - whats not 2 like.

A brilliant team who looked at my special request associated with my wife’s limited mobility and looking for a view and we were upgraded to a perfect room with porch and bed views. Such considerate hosts. The room, although a little dated, was comfortable and had everything we needed. The extra large bed gave us a perfect sleep and when I had mastered the air-con we also had a room at the correct temperature. Recommend for short stays.

Jenny was very welcoming on arrival. The rooms were very clean and modern with a kitchenette. We had a ground floor room but the wifi only worked outside in the carpark and not in our room. The location was excellent with a lovely cafe down the road. Turn left out of the driveway. New World was just around the corner.

Clean older revamped holiday units, did I mention clean. On-site laundry 1 machine & dryer, ample as this is short term. Debbie manager seems like a one women dynamo & very friendly. Kitchen supplied with clean pots and a Teflon frying pan that actually has Teflon & clean. Crispy sheets & fresh towels when needed. Great location supermarket & takeaways, restaurants within 1 klm. Much more relaxing than staying in town/Dunedin 5 minute drive. Very comfortable.

This was our fourth visit to Dunedin and each time we stay at 97 Moray. In truth ithe motel is becoming somewhat dated but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It was good to see that our bathroom had been modernised. Whilst it is not your modern complex , it is a very pleasant place to stay, literally three minutes walk from the Octagon with all its restaurants and cafes. i doubt we could get anything better for our buck! The staff are always so very helpful and whilst their continental breakfast was not available because of Covid, they still offered to serve it in our room. Its a perfectly adequate breakfast and all for $6 ! We will continue staying at 97 Moray on all future visits to Dunedin.

We went to South Island NZ and stayed two nights in this beautiful Amross Motel, Dunedin. Indeed this accommodation ticked every box that we would ask for. The motel was in a great location and we walked to everywhere in about 5 minutes. The rooms were spacious and super clean. The amenities were also top class and, in some way, better than the 5-star hotels we stayed. Barry was a kind, honest person. You really do not want to miss this motel if you visit Dunedin.

Every one who is reading this review im putting a bad feedback about this motel,i had made a booking with them over the phone,but its always best to get that confirmation email which i never through to asks for,i was going to stay there for nearly a week,then i had to cut it back to two nights i had to be in invercargill had something important on,i was chatting to some lady on the phone an had told me it was booked,when i arrive there on Monday 15th Nov 21,some lady there did not know to what i was talking bout,so my family an i ended up heading back home,i got a txt that night saying the key was under the mat,i told this lady i already been an gone,she tried to tell me i went to the wrong motel an i never did i had checked the sign,an her cell no came up with the motel name,she had lied to me,not the best motel to stay at

We had the 2 bedroom unit for 4 nights. The bedrooms have no windows , just a small glassed area looking into the lounge. The heating was an old electric heater that smelled awful so we didn’t use it. The only window in the place (apart from the bathroom one) is by the kitchen . It doesn’t lock so just rattles in the wind all night . we had to buy cutlery as there were no forks and only one spoon. The bathroom is a tiny area , totally wet floor so when you had a shower the whole place got wet. When you used the toilet the floor was always a puddle. The walls were so thin that we could hear the neighbour speaking and snoring all night. Internet went fine but the TV reception was shocking , the sound cut out every third word so we were left playing a game each evening trying to fill in the blanks. Very noisy lads moved in next door on our final night and kept us awake until 4am, Great!! When we booked we read the good reviews and saw the lovely pictures. Sounded quirky but great - not our experience at all. This place is tired , noisy and cold. On the plus side..... Management were friendly and let us arrive early which was very nice , linen was clean, handy location, lovely second hand shop next door and a great cafe 2 doors away. Very close to a bus stop, Dunedin buses are awesome. if you are a student or used to living in a dorm, this might suit you.

Stayed two nights at this hotel which is located right in the CBD with an easy walk to the Dunedin Railway Station and Octagon where many cafes and restaurants are located. The hotel is situated down an alleyway but instructions received in an email from the hotel prior to arrival explained in detail how to get to the hotel. Our room was a good size with a king-sized bed along with a single bed. It was clean and serviced promptly each morning. The staff are friendly and reception suggested we have breakfast at The Good Oil just across the road. Would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Part of NZ tour with Tailfinders. Room was very small but had all the facilities we needed. Room was on ground floor level so easy to get our luggage from the car in the off road car park. But cars could park right up to your window which meant it didn't feel private. Also a locked door separated the room from next door so we could hear the neighbours. Proprietor was friendly and helpful but only there certain times of the day. However we didn't spend much time in the room so it was ok. Don't know the price as it was part of a package but I think it was quite cheap so good value. Shops, restaurants and the lake were close by.

Very accommodating and friendly host. We were on two motorcycles and he kindly let us have the front unit with hard standing parking. He pointed out places of interest and things to do in the area. The unit was clean and tidy with plenty of space. Comfortable bed, shower over the bath but great pressure.

We had to extend our stay in Wanaka due to weather on the west coast preventing us from travelling, and we are thrilled that we did. There was a fill in manager while the current managers were on leave, and she was exceptional (I apologise as I cannot remember her name). We were in a 1 bedroom apartment on the top floor which had phenomenal views. The room was very well presented and immaculately clean. The bed was so comfortable, and there was a lot of room in the apartment. There is a guest laundry, which is very handy. The walk into town was an easy walk, and we spent a lot of time walking around the lake. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to any traveller.

Nice comfortable unit. Balcony with table to sit and enjoy view of mountains. Great spot to watch the cloud sit on the mountains. Able to cook in kitchen. A little tired I guess but fully functional and comfortable. Warm and cosy. Walking distance to town. Great food caravans across the road.

Good Points. Comfortable bed, spacious room, good shower, great location, free parking if you are one of the first 9 cars in. Bad Points. The whole structure creaks all day and night and wakes you up regularly. We booked a kitchenette and found a one burner electric plate in the cupboard where the heat was useless. The baby refrigerator was so small we had to buy ice each day for our tiny portable cooler. The place is worn out, carpet needed a shampoo, base of the shower was not clean, furniture was dusty and balcony furniture filthy. Walls are thin and you can hear conversations next room. Fortunately we spent as little time as possible in the room during the lengthy stay. Certainly overpriced for what we received and maintenance is overdue.

We loved our stay at the Wanaka View Motel. The rooms were very clean and updated, filled with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great view of the lake and were close enough to walk to everything we needed! There is a washer/dryer onsite, we were able to use the washer and then hang dry our clothes outside to dry, it was perfect. The owner was beyond kind, she helped us navigate the town and work out how to get to places since we didn't have a car. We definitely want to stay here again if we make it back to New Zealand!

WE HAD VIEWED THE PHOTOS ON THEIR WEBSITE AND MADE A BOOKING TO STAY ONE NIGHT. AFTER ARRIVING AND PAYING FOR THE ROOM - (OUR MISTAKE) WE WENT INTO THE ROOM WHICH SMELT TERRIBLE. THE BATHROOM AREA, SHOWER AND TOILET EITHER WAS CRACKED AND OLD LOOKING OR DIRTY. i COULDN'T TELL.WHICH. THE BOTTOM OF BOTH WERE CRACKED AND BLACK LOOKING. WE LEFT AND STAYED AT ANOTHER MOTEL. THE MANAGER DID OFFER US ANOTHER ROOM THERE OR ANOTHER ROOM AT HER OTHER MOTEL, BUT I THOUGHT IF SHE WAS HAPPY RENTING OUT THAT ROOM FOR PAYING GUESTS AND THOUGHT THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE, I PRESUMED THEIR CLEANINESS STANDARD WOULD BE THE SAME. GIVE THIS MOTEL A BIG MISS.

This was my second stay at AAA. Another great experience… The studio studios are extremely spacious & clean. Everything you need for a comfy night. There’s a full kitchen in you want to cook (cooktop elements & microwave, crockery, fridge etc.), or it’s an easy walk to the town restaurants and several takeaway options nearby. Excellent value for money.

It is a neat and tidy accommodation. Comfy stop for our long road trip.

We stayed overnight on a roadtrip and this is a great motel in a perfect location. The upstiars room was smaller than other places we had stayed on our trip. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming and there is an open air carpark outside the door. The room was more the size of a standard hotel room than a motel room, but the owners had the room well planed and everything you could need was there, including shampoo, body wash and soap dispensers also coffee pod machine with pods! The shower water preasure was amazing, I haven't felt a shower that strong in years! Tv with Sky channels and very comforable queen bed. Motel was very modern and clean. Great location just north of downtown Oamaru with McDonalds, BP service station, KFC, Bottle store, Indian takeaway next door or across the road. Great value at $183NZD per night.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Colonial Lodge Motel, in the northern end of Oamaru, twice in the last month or so. On both occasions I was very impressed by the reception staff who were both friendly and efficient. But this was just the start of what was to be great experiences. The motel facility on both occasions was sparkling clean, yet managing to appear inviting and homely. The rooms I stayed in were well supplied with everything I could need and consumables were of good quality. On my last visit i stayed 2 days and was delighted to find that tea, coffee, and cookies were replaced each morning. The bed was truly luxurious and this word stays as a lasting memory of the whole experience. Thank you to the whole team who create such a nice place to stay.

We were made to feel so welcome. The room was incredibly spacious and spotless. Teas, plunger coffee, hot chocolate and fresh muffins as a welcome; so personal and special. Appreciated that we could drive right up to the door and limit bag movement. The kitchenette allowed us to prepare really well for the next part of our trip. Heated and electric blankets - we had to turn them off after a short time. Out of a large selection of Motels, I suggest you just choose this one and save yourself time.

We had the best service from the team at the Oamaru Motor Lodge. We were coming back from a concert in Dunedin and didn't make it to the accommodation until half past midnight. We had told them this in advance and they had left the room door open for us with the keys inside, with a little note on the table with the wifi password and some kind words. The place is lovely and comfortable, we would definitely come back!

My wife and I took a self drive touring holiday on South Island New Zealand from the 17th March to the 11th April 2023. Apart from the first 2 nights and the last night where we stayed in a hotel in Christchurch we were self catering and stayed in accommodation that offered cooking facilities. I have reviewed each of the hotel/motels we stayed in. The following reviews cover the accommodation and some of the facilities/visits we made on the trip. Day 3 of our self drive tour of South Island March/April 2023 The Mews Oamaru. 5 stars We stayed at The Mews on the 17th March for the 3rd night of our self drive touring holiday of South Island. Welcome. The Manager/Owner was friendly and gave us information on where to view the penguins, and told us of a blues festival on in the town. He greeted us and presented us with a small bottle of milk to enable us to make a cup of tea. Service. We were only there for one night and we did not have the room serviced. Location. The Mews is within walking distance of the centre of Oamaru. Comfort. The room we had was a King Studio with a Spa Bath. The room was a good size and contained a king bed and a separate single bed. The bed was very comfortable. It contained a good sized TV, a small dining table, a kitchenette with fridge, microwave a hotplate and cooking utensils. We were able to park right outside our unit. Cleanliness. The room and bathroom was clean. The bedding was also clean. WiFi. The Wifi was very good and I was able to stream UK tv programmes using a VPN. Conclusion. This is a nice motel, clean and welcoming and the spa bath was an added bonus. We would stay here again if we came to Oamaru again.
