XXRMThis was genuinely a wonderful and most special place.
The Rocksalt Rooms are in a separate building to the Restaurant - but you check in at the latter and walk you over. Note all the streets here are cobbled, which can be slippery when wet.
They are a real BoltHole as they are described, and there are only four total. 2 on 1st floor, 2 on 2nd floor, with one per floor harbour facing. I'd definitely suggest that the upgrade is worth it.
The rooms are compact but exceptionally well presented. I've odd little niggles, theres no bedside of any kind - floating shelf would work, where do you put your mobile? And the metal bed frame is ornate and was loose on the footboard.
The biggest challenge is where to put things. There are a few hangers on the back of the door and a small set of hooks, but not a drawer or proper place at all. I get space is a real premium here - bedside with 2 drawers all you need!
The wet room is compact as everyone says. You won't keep the floor area outside the shower dry, it's not possible. The sink is a corner one with no space to place things but there is shelf in the bathroom for all your luxuries. The body wash / conditioner / hand soap / hand moisturiser are great quality.
Noise - it's by the Harbour so they start early, but for us it was part of the charm of the location, the fresh fish smell was totally incredible.
Breakfast is not to be missed, across in the restaurant with the best view, it's harbour side. Loved the granola, yoghurt, compote starter. I had English Breakfast as I was hungry, it was great quality but disappoining - it was more style over substance. The bacon is cooked to crispy, not my style at all but great quality. He had the Salmon & Eggs and it won hands down. Local, fresh, decent portion, on wonderful Sourdough. Luckily I was saved a bite.
A point or two more - the bedside light fused the circuit and the room was plunged into darkness. Looked for fuse box, could not find. Ended up in Restsurant. They had to get keys to a location they used to own but don't now (ground floor of the Rooms building). This took a while as the keys had to be obtained. I get how this used to work, but not now - the fuse box needs moving. The if we cant fix option was check out and refund - erm no!!
There is the most incredible Team member behind the Bar/ Restaurant from Bulgaria whose name I have really tsckily forgotten. For which I apologise.
She is truly wonderful and made the visit for me, id return solely to see her again!!!
Overall we loved Rocksalt Rooms and would return, to have dinner in the restaurant too!

GGuest UserThis was my second stay here, and I chose it again because of its incredibly convenient location right on the town's pedestrian street, making everything easily accessible. The breakfast was also delicious. The room was spacious, bright, and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. It's my top choice when visiting Canterbury.

Reception desk and breakfast could be better.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for one night only as my son had a dance class nearby. I wouldn’t have chosen this location for a break away as it’s in a business park with not much in the immediate vicinity. However, if you want to be within a 10 min drive to Blue water shopping centre then it’s perfect!
The reception staff were efficient but not overly friendly or helpful, however, there was a big birthday party being held at the hotel and lots of people checking in so that may have something to do with it.
The room was lovely - spacious, clean and two generous sized beds (another reason for booking this as my sons 15 and a bit too big for a sofa bed now!).
We used the pool and pleasure facilities before we left as we had some time to kill. This area is very tired and grubby. Could do with a bit of a spruce up but served a purpose!
If you’re staying on a sunny day be sure to visit Swanley park which is about a 15 min drive away - it’s lovely!…..a lake with pedalos, cafe, little train ride, splash area and play area for little ones. Great for a family day out!
All in all not bad and we will be staying again as my son has this dance class every month!

AAnonymous UserThe room was bigger than expected and had a patio to sit out on, the bed was comfy and everything is situated a short walk from the mews rooms. I did notice the bathroom was a bit dirty and the hot water for the shower went completely this morning. The maintenance man had to come out and fix the boiler to rectify the issue.
The location is absolutely stunning and the gardens are well kept. It is really a beautiful part of the UK and the main manor building is lovely.
The gardenia restaurant is closed a few days of the week for dinner and also breakfast which I didn’t think was ideal. So we had to go outside to eat dinner as the spa restaurant wasn’t really what I was looking for, for a nice evening meal. For breakfast we had to go to the sage spa restaurant which had a very limited selection of food. There were about 6 dishes to choose from, they said The chef doesn’t cook scrambled egg which is a breakfast essential so I basically had to have a plate of toast. As there was nothing that I wanted on the menu and I was told the smoothie machine was broken so I couldn’t even opt for that instead. This happened straight after the hot water had gone so was a bit of a dampener. I came to the hotel a few years ago when you didn’t have to pay for the spa access but now you do which is a bit annoying. Especially as you can only visit during breakfast or dinner hours even with the £20 surcharge. So then you have to either eat very late at night or have a late lunch otherwise the £20 won’t be well spent and you’d have to leave the spa after an hour

KKate@BFriendly and helpful staff. The spa area is really calming, and although the steam room and sauna were small were enjoyable. The range of seating was also well planned in the space available. Had Breakfast and a promotion evening meal that was good value and nicely presented

BBracewell99I had a really enjoyable stay at the Carlton Hotel in Folkestone. The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to explore the town and the seafront, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my stay.
The room was comfortable, clean and had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The hotel has a traditional feel, which gives it plenty of character, and overall I found it to be good value for money.
Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and the whole stay was hassle-free. I’d happily stay at the Carlton again if I’m back in Folkestone and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient location.

CChris J HornWhat an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away.
We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks.
We had booked ”Niddy” an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character.
The only ****** I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room.
Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening.
The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had.
The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away)
The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us.
We will definitely return.

RRTappingOverall, I had a good stay at Orida Hotel. The hotel was very clean throughout, and the facilities were definitely a highlight. The gym was well equipped, and having access to the pool, sauna, and steam room made my stay even better.
The room itself was spacious and comfortable. However, the biggest downside was the lack of air conditioning. I stayed on a day when it was around 35°C, and the room became very hot. There was only a fan provided, which wasn't enough to keep the room cool. This was especially disappointing because the Trip.com listing stated that the hotel had air conditioning, which wasn't the case.
Another small issue was the lack of plug sockets in the room, which made charging my devices a bit inconvenient.
Despite those issues, I still enjoyed my stay thanks to the cleanliness and the excellent leisure facilities. If the air conditioning situation was sorted, it would have been a much better experience.
