This hotel truly deserves a five-star rating, especially compared to other hotels in Noboribetsu. It has a rich history, and the onsen (hot spring) is directly facing Jigokudani (Hell Valley). The outdoor bath offers a first-class view, allowing you to soak in the hot spring while overlooking Hell Valley and snow-capped mountains. The pools are large and plentiful. Additionally, the hotel's breakfast and dinner buffets are excellent. The dinner features snow crab legs, sashimi, and caviar of good quality, and they are unlimited – unlike some places in China where the sashimi quality is questionable to begin with, and they deliberately slice it slowly to create queues and limit portions. Overall, you definitely wouldn't be able to get this kind of experience for this price back home.
Stayed here for 3 nights and overall had a really positive experience.
The location is super convenient, about a 5-minute walk to both the train station and MTR, which made getting around effortless. There are plenty of convenience stores right nearby.
The hotel has a nice quiet vibe, which was perfect after busy days out exploring. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The room itself was a standout, surprisingly big and spacious by Japanese standards. It was spotlessly clean and tidy, and there was still plenty of floor space even after we opened two large suitcases (something that’s almost impossible in most other compact hotels in Japan).
The only downside was the bedding. The duvet (?) was way too thick and heavy for my liking. It made the bed feel quite hot at night, and I ended up sweating a lot despite the AC.
Otherwise, this place was near perfect. Would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you’re okay with cranking the AC lower. Solid choice!
1) Japanese room is old but thankfully no funny smoke odour etc. decent sized and good for 2 large luggage - they will come and prepare your futon at around 5-530pm.
2) water park is good for kids, with 2 fun slides and some kiddo water slide. The indoor wave pool is big and there’s float and swimwear rental available too (unlike Rusutsu which doesn’t have such options).
3) Dinner was meh - wide selection but taste was alright. The dining buffet area is quite smoky though from the cooking and is quite a turnoff.
4) arcade at B1 is good for entertainment.
5) onsen is awesome. If timed right, you can watch fireworks from the onsen - it has a large sliding glass panel which is open during non-winter period.
6) daily fireworks - awesome
The Japanese-style tatami room was very distinctive, and the hotel's facilities and equipment were well-maintained. The large public bath operates on a daily rotation for men and women, and the outdoor hot spring pools on each side are different. So, you'd need to stay at least two nights to experience the full range of hot springs. The meals didn't change at all over several days, so I quickly got tired of them.
The environment is really good. The forest house is two-story and about 100 square meters. Compared with the rooms I stayed in before in Sapporo, Noboribetsu and Rusutsu, it is much bigger. And the house is fully equipped with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is very quiet and you can go out to play in the snow at any time. The only drawback is that if you don't drive here, you have to eat dinner at the hotel. The dinner at the hotel is very expensive. I ordered room service, which was quite a lot and delicious. In addition, the hotel does not have a vending machine, so you can only patronize the hotel's drinks and cakes in the lobby. Breakfast is included, which is very ceremonial. All the staff greeted us at the door of the restaurant. We were in a hurry, so we ate quickly and went to the airport. In addition to the snow, there is a golf course next to it. There is not much entertainment, but it is still a good stop for rest.
The hotel room is considered large in Japan. We were 3 people and the hotel provided us with a separate sofa bed. There are also many food stalls near the hotel, which is very convenient. It is 3 subway stations away from Sapporo Station. Convenient transportation.
The Japanese-style room had someone dedicated to making the beds, and there was plenty of space for three adults, not cramped at all. It's very close to Shirahige Waterfall, right downstairs from the hotel. Additionally, the hotel offers many convenient services, such as shuttle buses to and from Asahikawa and the Blue Pond, making it very easy to explore the surrounding area.
The only downside was that the bathroom in our room type didn't have a wet/dry separation and was very small, not suitable for showering inside. Luckily, the hotel has a hot spring bathhouse, so my family and I went there morning and evening to shower.
The rooms are spacious with views of either Lake Toya or the ocean. The in-room amenities are excellent, and the toiletries are all from well-known brands. The hotel itself is large with many restaurants. I particularly want to highlight how wonderful the hotel's hot spring is, and also the breakfast, which offers a great variety and high quality of food.
I booked two nights, the price is less than 200 per night, and the Otaru Hotel during the Snow Festival is more than 800+, so I chose a warm youth hostel.
The person in charge is an old lady. You will find her humor and enthusiasm when you communicate with her. If there is no one at the front desk, you can ring the bell. You need to leave the key at the front desk when you check out.
The second floor can be connected to the bathhouse on the first floor (I didn’t go because it seems to be an independent business bathhouse, and my roommate likes to go there);
If you are assigned to a double room as shown in the picture, you are lucky because you will live very comfortably. My roommate is of the same country and the same sex, and we chatted like friends;
If you are assigned to a quadruple room, then you will experience a rich youth hostel life. The roommates are men and women from all over the world. It is easy to communicate in a narrow environment. Everyone is very quiet and you don’t have to worry about your sleep problem.
But there is indeed a smell that is not like 🦶 air for two days. I can’t tell the difference. There is a burning thing in the room (it seems to be an air purifier) that can solve this smell.
The interesting thing about this youth hostel is that it is like a blind box. You don’t know what you will encounter.
The hotel was excellent! The room was spacious, the view was great, and everything felt brand new. The staff provided exceptional service too. We dropped off our luggage early before heading out, and when we returned to check in that evening, a staff member escorted us all the way from the ground floor to the 9th-floor lobby. Our room was already assigned when we gave our name, and our luggage was already waiting for us inside. The breakfast was also absolutely fantastic – delicious and fresh, especially the sashimi rice bowl. My 6-year-old son even got a complimentary breakfast. We also dined at their French restaurant for dinner. For three people, we ordered two full courses and a children's set meal, which only came out to 1500 RMB. The best part was that each dish was paired with a different wine, offering incredible value for money. This hotel truly offers a luxurious experience; I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Great
The view on Lake Toya from the hotel was spectacular. We were lucky to have witnessed the cloud sea and sunrise. From the other angle, we could see the full view of Mt Yotei, also known as Hokkaido Fuji. There are few restaurants in the hotel, including the Japanese, Chinese, French, and the Italian. There was also good onsen in the hotel, both idoor and outdoor. We will definitely come back to stay again in the future.
Dai-ichi Takimotokan is an exceptional ryokan that offers an unforgettable onsen experience in Noboribetsu. The highlight is its large variety of hot spring baths, both indoor and outdoor, allowing guests to relax while enjoying beautiful natural surroundings. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, blending traditional Japanese style with modern amenities. The buffet meals are impressive, with a wide selection of fresh Japanese and international dishes. Staff are courteous, attentive, and provide excellent hospitality throughout the stay. Overall, Dai-ichi Takimotokan is perfect for travelers seeking relaxation, quality service, and an authentic Japanese onsen experience.
We stayed 7 nights at this hotel which is very near to the Sapporo station. Overall experience was great. Room was spacious enough to put two large luggages. Definitely will choose this hotel again in our future visit.
Far more convenient than the Westin although the rooms are standard Japanese 4 star style. The room is only cleaned every 4 days but they empty the trash daily. Direct ski in ski out (unlike the Westin which is only connected by Monorail to ski in/ski out) and lots of cute little baby slopes to play with for kids below 4. Private instructors charge 10-15k per hour
One of the best hotels I've ever been to. The room was excellent, the food is delicious. It's 14 km away from Shiretoko-Goko-Nationalpark and just 1 km to the cruise ships. After hiking, you can enjoy the onsen of the hotel.
For a weekend 2 day onsen break, this hotel is perfect. Noboreitsu is a small place and the location of this hotel is very good (at the bottom of a hill right next to the bus terminus). The single room itself is small but adequate albeit retro, but the onsen facilities are pretty good and despite the large commercial size of the hotel, the onset is never busy. The breakfast and dinner buffets are decent, but as it barely changes, you will get bored pretty quickly after 2 days. Jikokudani is less than 10 minutes away by foot - if you enjoyed this during the day, it is super-pretty in the evening and the evening walk makes a lovely post-dinner saunter (see photos). You will pass the main shopping street on the way there and back (most shops close at around 9pm). The only downside to the hotel is the sheer number of tour groups that check in/out. 4-6pm and early morning 8-10am are just rammed with tour buses/groups and the hotel lifts are packed as a result.
The hotel was acquired by hotel and the biggest improvement is the quality of the breakfast. Location wise, although it’s not in the central hirafu, the shuttle made journey to hirafu or kutchan very easy. The only downside this time was that, the outdoor onsen is not working, but they offered customers to use the onsen in the Hilton nearby.
