We had a good overall stay at Daiichi Takimotokan, a large traditional ryokan-style hotel. While the property is a little dated, it is well maintained and kept clean. The hotel itself offers plenty to do, including restaurants, a souvenir shop, simple arcade games, karaoke, massage services, a public onsen, and even a small reading area with Japanese books. You can easily spend time exploring the building without needing to go out. The location is very convenient. It is just outside the main (short) shopping street and within walking distance to Jigokudani, making it easy to explore the area. Our stay included breakfast and dinner buffet. Dinner had a wide variety of options, including popular sashimi selections and steamed snow crabs, along with both Japanese and Western dishes. Breakfast was a simpler spread but still satisfying. We stayed in a Japanese-style room and found the futons comfortable to sleep on. As we visited during winter, the room had central heating only. At times, we cooled the room by slightly opening the window to let in some cold air. Yukata robes are provided in the room (or you can choose one that fits you at the lobby), and you can wear them around the hotel when heading to the onsen, restaurants, or arcade. The public onsen area is spacious and features many different pools with various functions, so you can take your time and enjoy the experience. Just remember to wash yourself thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the onsen pools. Unfortunately, we did not try the outdoor onsen despite it being open — we were a little intimidated by the winter cold! Overall, we would recommend this hotel, especially for first-timers who want to experience staying in a traditional ryokan. Tip: There are direct buses to and from the hotel from New Chitose Airport and Sapporo. The bus stop is only about 50 metres from the hotel entrance, which made walking in the snow much easier for us. However, the service runs only once a day, so be sure to check the schedule and plan your itinerary accordingly.

Stayed here for 3 nights and overall had a really positive experience. The location is super convenient, about a 5-minute walk to both the train station and MTR, which made getting around effortless. There are plenty of convenience stores right nearby. The hotel has a nice quiet vibe, which was perfect after busy days out exploring. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room itself was a standout, surprisingly big and spacious by Japanese standards. It was spotlessly clean and tidy, and there was still plenty of floor space even after we opened two large suitcases (something that’s almost impossible in most other compact hotels in Japan). The only downside was the bedding. The duvet (?) was way too thick and heavy for my liking. It made the bed feel quite hot at night, and I ended up sweating a lot despite the AC. Otherwise, this place was near perfect. Would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you’re okay with cranking the AC lower. Solid choice!

The fireworks over Lake Toya were the highlight of our stay — we could enjoy them right from our room, which was truly special. The onsen was relaxing and staff were friendly. However, the hotel facilities feel a bit old, and the WiFi connection was quite poor, which made it hard to stay connected. Overall, still a nice experience for families and those looking for a relaxing lake view.

The hotel is nice. Room is dated but clean and comfortable with a view so beautiful. Buffet spread was great for both dinner and breakfast, and it is priced reasonably. Check the photos we've shared. We got better offer with Trip.com and managed to save with it. Thanks Trip.com. They have shuttle bus services from Sapporo but we didn't managed to use it. Firstly, due to language barrier as they only accept call in reservation and they only speaks local language and secondly, after we broke the language barrier, we found out that our activities unable to match the timing of the shuttle bus. Nevertheless, the public transportation to this hotel is very convenient and easy. We'll definitely stay here again.

這是一個哥爾夫酒店，你除了打球之外，其實沒有什麼可做，原本以為有溫泉的，但到達後才知道關閉了！很不開心投訴之後，酒店不肯免費取消住宿，之後Trip. Com 賠償了$1070元作補償，雖然仍有不滿，但也不想麻煩，所以就算了！房屋也算新淨，而且裝修陳設也很好，屋內雖然有廚房，但沒有任何煮食用具，只有一個水煲，也不能BBQ, 停車場在酒店大堂附近，但離木屋很遠，出入要叫酒店職員接送，不方便，酒店套餐不便宜，在酒店旁有一間價錢相對合理的餐廳，但食物質素一般，而且員工粗魯，體驗不太好！但酒店內其他員工也很有禮貌，服務也算周到，只是不夠人性化。

The Windsor Hotel at Toya may boast its status as a premier 5-star luxury destination and its historic role as host of the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, but our recent stay fell far short of expectations. Despite the grandeur of the location and its breathtaking views, the service quality was surprisingly poor for a hotel of this caliber. English communication was inconsistent and below the standard expected at an international luxury property. Housekeeping was careless—leaving a used cleaning towel on the bed after daily room service, which is simply unacceptable. When I drove to the main entrance to pick up my family, I was abruptly asked to leave immediately, even though only a few cars were present. This lack of hospitality was jarring. Additionally, being charged for extra bottled water—something even 3-star hotels offer complimentary—felt petty and out of touch with luxury norms. The most troubling experience came during checkout. Two of our international credit cards failed to process, and although we successfully paid with a third, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional. We were met with a sour expression and the word “FINALLY” once the transaction went through—an unacceptable remark that left a lasting negative impression. While the hotel’s setting is undeniably beautiful, the overall service and treatment we received did not reflect the standards of a true 5-star experience. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve both staff training and guest relations.

The place is quiet and clean. The lady who checked me in is charming, always smiling. 15-20 minute walk to the center. They only had 2 showers for each gender, but was never a problem during my stay since there’s just few guests then. I like the place and I love the room that I booked. Will definitely stay here again mext time.

Amazing stay. Enjoyed every minute. Good facilities of pool and gym. Buffet breakfast however was a repetition. Room was clean and views are great. Lovely stay and location is minutes walk to JR station. Very new and enjoyed the bathtub dip too. Will recommend
