Hotel Dengan Pools di Viana do Castelo District, Portugal

Lovely hotel, lobby and reception area, bright cheerful and funky, very relaxed and unobtrusive, staff very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Great choice and selection at breakfast, from fresh fruit and yogurts, cereals and seeds, preserves, toppings, breads, pastries and hot dishes and  for cold meats and cheeses. Evening menu somewhat limited in variety, set menu throughout, excellent quality and portion size, nice wine selection and full bar. If I have a negative, it would be my room, small but fully functional, with mini bar (limited), ideal for a solo traveller, but cramped if sharing. The decor of the room is what let it down! It was painted a dark blue/green which gave the feel of being closed in! Housekeeping service excellent. Overall 9.5/10

The hotel is on the mountain, follow the navigation, the door is not particularly obvious, it is best to check during the day in. The service staff is very enthusiastic, the environment is good, quiet and natural. The hotel has its own horse farm, and horseback riding is required.

We were in awe of this home. So much to explore and so much history! Loved the thick granite walls and original wooden doors/shutters with hardware, antiques and displays everywhere, beautiful view, and even a pool. It is situated in a quaint little area by a church and you can easily walk down to the river. The area around Ponte da Barca is absolutely beautiful and fun to explore. The hosts are very friendly and offered a lovely breakfast.

The only suggestion I have for improvement, as everything else is perfect, is that they lower the dinner prices a bit. This is my second time here, but I'll be back many more times.

A wonderful place! From the very first moment, we were greeted with warm smiles that made us feel truly welcome. The room was like a fairytale – with exquisite woodcarving and a magnificent bed that transported us back in time, as if we were characters from the era of sword duels. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire hotel team for their warmth and for making this stay unforgettable!

Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was perfect, with easy access to local attractions. We especially loved the breakfast and spa. Very good location, close to village center with a lot of shops nearby. All staff was super friendly, and room was super clean. Breakfast had a lot of options. The hotel has a very calm ambiance with gorgeous views to the river Vez. Parking was also available. I definitely recommend a stay at the hotel.

Good stay overall, nice price and amenities with the outdoor pool and indoor as well - nice indoor pool temperature for Portugal. Bad part is that the hotel is clearly understaffed and cleaning is not good. The spa bathroom was not cleaned for 3 days as per the sheet there, but it looked like 30 days

Clean hotel, good breakfast with something for everyone. Nice pool with amenities like a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi.

Very good hotel, with a magnificent pool. Relatively close to the city center, you can walk. What I don't understand is that you can't pay by card if you buy less than €5 at the hotel bar. You can't have a beer without metal. One of the people who worked there insisted a lot that you couldn't pay less than €5 with a card, it was also difficult for them to charge it to my room by showing my ID at reception, finally and as an exceptional favor, they charged it to me and I paid it in the checking out. It shouldn't be that difficult.😫
