Hotel Dengan Kolam di Norrbotten, Sweden

The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the view was stunning! We love the breakfast which was included in the room rate for the wide selection and great taste. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. There is a bistro which serves a more affordable dinner after 5p.m, the staff of the restaurants and bistro were friendly too. There is a free sauna for the customer but unfortunately we had no time to try it. The hiking trail was clearly marked and there was a map available at the reception. There was a guide available after 7pm for the customer to ask questions about aurora sighting. We joined the aurora sky station tour as well! It was a unique and unforgettable experience even though we couldn't see the aurora as it was cloudy, kudos to Jasper the guide as he tried his best to give us the best experience :)

Stayed here for a night after 2 nights in Abisko before proceeding to Stockholm. A very comfortable hotel with 70 rooms and another 30 or so nearing completion. Would rate the property more than 3 stars. Breakfast was large and varied and of a good quality. Rooms were decent sized with modern bathrooms. A pool and sauna is also available. Visited the ice hotel and would recommended staying in town to get a flavour of the city. Interesting pubs and food scene.

After driving 14 hours from Stockholm to Luleå in -40° we arrived at a different accommodation to find it wasn't fit for purpose. At 10pm we rocked up to the front desk of Quality Hotel Luleå to be greeted by the friendly face of Mats. Our knight in shining armour, he set us up for the night in a lovely room for 3. After a hot shower and a cup of tea we all had a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast included the morning after was an added bonus. Marie was also very helpful in allowing us to store our perishables in the fridge. An absolute whirlwind of a first night in Lapland, it ended so much better than we had expected!

Perfect choice of stay for a mid range business trip. Ask for a room with windows as the default is a windowless room. Not that it matters much in the extra long winter nights. In fact you can sleep far better in one during the extra long summer day (no dark). Fantastic breakfast buffet, in both senses of location setting and contents.

We were here for two nights as part of our Inlandsbanen train trip. Although there's not much to do in Gallevare, we enjoyed staying here. It's conveniently located across from the lovely train station. At midnight we crossed the street and climbed the stairs of the railway overpass so we could get a good glimpse of the midnight sun just hovering over the horizon and never setting. Actually, a better view is from the roof area of the hotel where the pool is located. The hotel is a couple ofblocks from the only mall and a couple of restaurants.

Arrived at about 14:00 and was asked to pay 200 sek for early check in. The room had two small beds instead one queen size bed. The was not properly cleaned, there was some food remains on the floor. At check in I asked for housekeeping everyday which the hotel ignored the next day. I would avoid this hotel, there better options in the Center of Luleå.

We stayed at the Treehotel for 3 nights in December, 2021. This was simply one of the best hotel experiences we have had. We stayed in the 7th room -- which was really nice--very comfortable and nice views. We had breakfast and dinner each day we were there and the food was outstanding. Our meals were served in our own small dining room in the main lodge building. The staff were accommodating to any request. We went on a snowmobile tour with Michael one morning--Lots of fun. We were scheduled to go snowshoeing that same afternoon but our scheduled guide called and alerted the staff that he was not feeling well. They got in touch with Michael and he filled in by taking us to his small cabin by a private lake and helped us try out snowshoeing---another great experience. We were left with the impression that the staff and owners of the Treehotel would do everything they could to make our stay with them special. They certainly succeeded in doing that!

I set out today for the Elite Lulea Hotel, hoping for a warmer welcome - nothing much, perhaps just a member of staff making eye contact with me, or even trying to smile. No luck. I made my way to my room. I was trying not to alarm anyone, so I walked in the local style, very, very slowly, eyes down, like someone on his way to be executed. 😞 My room was rather cold, but there was a fireplace ! A huge one ! No fire. Nothing... Except for four candles. Big candles, though. I lit them. The radiators were off, so I went to call for help. It took me some time to find the telephone. It was on a window sill, behind a curtain. I pushed a number of keys, and eventually hit the right one ” Could I speak to a manager ? ” I asked ”'He's not here ” ” Could I speak to an assistant manager, then ” ” There isn't one ” ” There's no manager at all ?! ” ” No, there's only me ” (This is a hotel that has 159 rooms...) ” Thank you ” I said ” No problem ” Later a Swede expains to me that the hotel cannot switch its radiators on. Apparently this has to be done by someone employed by the local council, who works in another part of the town, and who gets to turn on all the radiators in the town at the same time. Although, of course, it takes a season or two for them to warm up...
