Booked this as a side trip from Osaka to escape the city and have some quiet time.
Set in a tiny village in the middle of a mountainous & forested area alongside a beautiful river with tons of waterfalls, very picturesque and perfect for walking around.
The hotel itself is immaculate with great amenities including large bathing areas.
Food was incredible and service was top-notch with staff that were always friendly, helpful and eager to please.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Japanese-style onsen hotel in a tranquil setting.
The hotel was conveniently located right across from a train station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine. The facility was a bit worn, and the room was small and could use some updates. However, it served its purpose for a one-night stay.
Stay for one night to visit the Shima Spain Village. The location is a little bit far from the main station. However, the hotel have shuttle bus service and we could arrive the destination smoothly. The room is clean, the free hot spring (onsen) is good, the buffet-style breakfast is not bad, and the staff is very friendly. Overall, it's a nice stay.
The hotel is located on a mountain with beautiful scenery. However, the facilities are spread out across different areas of the mountain. In particular, the restaurants are mostly located downhill, and guests need to walk long distances using stairs or escalators. This layout is not very suitable for elderly guests or families with young children.
The male staff member who handled our check-in was clearly unprofessional. He was unable to answer basic questions or properly introduce the hotel facilities. Our booking included both breakfast and dinner, but when we asked which restaurant we should go to for meals, he simply told us to make a reservation online. When we explained that we were unable to do so and asked for his assistance, it turned out that he did not know how to use the system himself. He also did not seek help from his colleagues, resulting in a long delay. Eventually, he told us that only one restaurant accepted walk-in guests.
After making our way down to that restaurant, the staff there informed us that dinner was not included at that location. Fortunately, the restaurant staff helped us by making a phone call and discovered that the hotel had already arranged our dinner reservation at a specific restaurant in advance. This made us question whether the check-in staff had provided incorrect or careless information.
The breakfast arrangements were also very disappointing. The breakfast menu listed around ten options, but almost all of the Japanese-style breakfast slots were already fully booked. We had checked in at around 5:00 p.m., which made this situation even more unreasonable. Afterward, we noticed similar complaints in other reviews regarding the hotel’s poor dining arrangements.
The bathing area was visually appealing, but the amenities were very limited. There was no water dispenser, facial cleansing products, or skincare items provided—only a hair dryer.
In summary, the hotel’s hardware and design are quite good and tasteful, but the service quality and overall management are extremely poor.
GGuest UserThe open-air bath was amazing!
The changing room, shower room, and balcony
open-air bath were all connected, which was great.
The air purifier and the corners of the room were a little rough, but it wasn't too bad.
The staff were very helpful and polite when I checked in!
There were some shops open until around 10 PM, so I could go for a walk even after relaxing at the hotel!
I couldn't go this time, so I'll save it for next time. (T_T)
I was shocked that the room service I ordered was cold.
The room didn't have a microwave, which was a problem! The food was delicious!! There was also a snack and drink set that looked delicious!
Thank you so much!
SSmilexiaojiebuaipashanMie Prefecture is a relatively remote and rural place, but Toba, Ise and Shima are still worth visiting.
Todaya Hotel exceeded my expectations. I thought it was just an ordinary local Japanese-style hotel, but it turned out to be very large, with two buildings, a large public bath, an open-air bath, and several free private baths for families. There are quite a few medals at the front desk.
The room size is not large among Japanese-style rooms, but it is more spacious than ordinary modern rooms. Western-style beds are also more comfortable. The dinner was quite rich, with both Japanese and Western flavors, and the freshly roasted beef was delicious. Breakfast is on the top floor of the South Building, facing the sea, with a great view. There are also many dining options.
Mikimoto Pearl Island and Toba Aquarium are nearby.
When you check in, you will see the last name or first name of each room occupant on the welcome board at the hotel entrance. It is quite interesting to find your own name.
GGuest UserThere should be relatively few tourists in Toba itself. It is inconvenient if the hotel is on the mountain without a car. It is estimated that there were less than 10 groups of guests staying that day. The small bath in the room is only for one person. The size of the bathtub is very small, and it looks like there is a period of time. No one is using the time

GGuest UserWe stayed here to celebrate my wife's birthday. All the food was delicious, and we were very satisfied with their request for a birthday plate for dessert. It was a memorable hotel stay and my 4-year-old daughter said she wants to stay here again!
GGuest UserHotel was well located and easy to find. Room was comfortable but no housekeeping if you stay consecutive nights. Fresh towels were just placed in a bag and hung outside our door. They did not enter the room to clear rubbish nor place the fresh towels or make the beds even though I specifically requested it. Carpark was free. Coin laundry was also available.
AAnihaseyoTransportation: Take the Shimakaze train to Kashikojima, which takes about two and a half hours. Contact the hotel in advance for a pick-up from Kashikojima station.
The hotel does not provide airport pick-up, but can arrange car hire for guests.
Transportation is very inconvenient.
Facilities: The facilities are very good. The interior styles of the three Aman hotels in Japan are very similar, and the rooms and public areas are well-maintained.
Service: The service is very good.
Food: Due to the hotel's remote location, there are no restaurants nearby, so all meals were eaten at the hotel.
The food at the restaurant was surprisingly good (I thought it wouldn't be good).
Dinner reservations must be made in advance, as the hotel is fully booked on holidays, and the restaurant's dinner slots are also fully booked. You either have to wait until 8:30 pm or eat at the bar.
If you choose to eat dinner at the bar, you won't be able to get shabu-shabu.
The lunch menu is different; it's a simple meal, but acceptable.
The first set meal was a regular set meal, which included a beef dish with a green sauce that was super delicious; I used it to mix with rice.
The second set meal included shabu-shabu, with options for Ise lobster, Matsusaka beef, and local beef; I chose the local beef. The reddish-brown sauce in the shabu-shabu was absolutely delicious.
Activities: Chinese-speaking guides can be requested for tours of Ise.
The hotel didn't email us in advance to inform us about activities or inquire about arrangements. Many activities were unavailable upon check-in.
Summary: Aside from the inconvenient transportation and the lack of advance email communication about activities during my stay, everything was fine.
JjengreyesWe stayed at ocean view the staff was absolutely amazing. We had japanese course for dinner absolutely great the lobster and abalone steaks were excellent and breakfast too..The bad side is the club lounge not available and the guest room toilet was old and not totally clean there is hair on the floor disappointing 🙁
AAnonymous UserExcept for the shuttle bus to get in and out, the overall experience was very good. The room is clean and spacious, the view is excellent, looking out is relaxing. The hotel has a comfortable environment, friendly and courteous service staff, complete facilities, especially the SPA is very relaxing, breakfast options are many and delicious, very happy to eat. We stayed very peacefully and hope to come back next time and enjoy one more leisurely holiday!
GGuest UserWe stayed with a total of 4 people with 3 adult friends and 1 4 year old child. The pool was available until 18:00 on the same day and 10:00 the next day 〜 14:00 at an additional fee, and there was a jet relaxing corner in the indoor heated pool and it was quite refreshing.
The hot springs after that were free and fun.
