The cottages were a little out of the way but they are perfect - toasty during winter, spacious with an ensuite bathroom per bedroom, and accessible via the frequent bus service. It’ll be even better if a microwave is provided in the cottage, and if our ski/snowboard fear can be stored in the locker room near the slopes (we arent allowed to do so and have to carry them back to our cottages everyday. We stayed at the premium room at the main building previously and would say each experience is unique, but staying at the main building would be more convenient and staying at the cottage is more special especially during winter.
The room was incredibly spacious, offering exceptional value for the price. The hotel maintains a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which I truly appreciated. While the furniture and carpets show some slight signs of age, the overall comfort remains high.
I was impressed by their Zero Waste policy; instead of plastic bottles in the room, they provide glassware and a convenient water dispenser located right by the elevator. Please note that for a two-night stay, there is no housekeeping service, which aligns with their eco-friendly initiative.
The amenities were comprehensive, and the service was outstanding—truly upholding the high standards of the Mercure brand. Parking is plentiful and hassle-free. Lastly, the view is a hidden gem; on a clear day, you get an unobstructed, breathtaking panorama of the mountain range without any buildings blocking the sight. I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway!
It was a great experience to stay in this hotel! Very nice view and staff are very polite and willing to answer many questions. Outdoor area is very big that we could take bicycles with kids. Also there are kids outdoor playground that can spend whole day there.
I stayed at this hotel for one night, and overall, it was quite a pleasant experience.
I really liked my room — it was clean, modern, and comfortable. The only thing that surprised me was that the window to the balcony didn’t open, though I suppose it was designed that way.
The onsen was absolutely wonderful — spacious, relaxing, and with a beautiful view of a mountain river. Definitely one of the highlights of my stay.
The hotel also offers many different areas for leisure and entertainment. You can play table tennis, relax in cozy rest zones, visit small cafés and shops — there’s a lot to explore without even leaving the building.
Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a wide variety of food to choose from. However, due to the number of guests, it was a bit challenging for the staff to manage everything smoothly. On two occasions, someone almost took my table, even though I had already placed the reservation card on it to show it was taken.
That said, the staff overall were very pleasant, friendly, and helpful, and I appreciated their attitude throughout my stay.
This hotel is clearly family-oriented, with many families staying with young children. There are rooms with child-friendly designs and dedicated play areas, so if you’re looking for a quiet, adult-only atmosphere, this might not be the best fit.
That said, I genuinely enjoyed my stay and would consider coming back.
Great stay at Indigo brand hotels as usual, comfort, decor level are of supreme level
However, please note there are no laundry self service rooms in hotel
There is a Lawson within walking distance from hotel entrance
Would stay in again!
Large beds and comfortable stay
Great service as well!
Shuttle bus service available on schedule
At first, I didn’t expect much from this hotel, but everything changed when I arrived. We traveled to Karuizawa via Shinkansen, and just a five-minute walk from the JR Station, there’s a shuttle bus stop inside the shopping plaza. The hotel staff were very friendly, and check-in was smooth. Although the carpet in the room has seen many winters, it added to the cozy atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the lobby offered free coffee and soft drinks, along with a large, charming stove to keep you warm on snowy days. The ski resort is just around the corner, with rental shops, a ski academy, and ski lifts all in the same area, making it very convenient. If you’re looking to recharge your energy surrounded by nature, this is the perfect place.
Really beautiful resort, love the free rental Onsen it’s really nice, if you don’t need room cleaning service you can get 2000yen coupon for souvenir shop. It’s close to the outlet only 10mins driving distance. There is a 7 eleven close to the hotel but need to be aware that the convenience store will be closed at 2300.
Highly recommended modern ryokan stay. Having stayed in several ryokan in GIFU region, I find Onyado Nono to be offering the best experience. Nice comfy rooms, onsen amenities and delicious supper.

Amazing
GGuest UserVery decent hotel with good services from the hotel staff. Come with onsen & spa facilities as well as large size rooms and bathrooms. Less than 10 minutes car ride from the Karuizawa station, ski centre and the Prince Shopping Plaza. Hotel also provides free shuttle bus services through and forth to the Karuizawa station which conveniently accessible to the ski centre (free shuttle bus services outside the South exit of the Karuizawa station) and the Prince Shopping Plaza (stone throw from Karuizawa station).
GGuest UserWe spent 2 nights in Prince after first 2 nights in Kusatsu onsen town. The hotel looked underwhelming on arrival and the front office service was efficient but cursory compared to the warm hospitality we had in the ryokan stay. It was low season and hotel was very quiet and had a ”cold” atmosphere.
I was further disappointed when we were shown our room which was on the lowest floor with a simple garden view. On requesting the check-in staff for a change of room on higher floor and a more scenic view, I was told there is an upgrade charge, which I accepted. The new room was the same size and configuration but on a higher floor with a nice view of Mt Asama. While I was happy to pay the fee, I can't help but compare their practice with all the hotels that I have stayed in all these years, where room changes were complimentary so long as the room type remains the same. Nevertheless, the hotel's facilities delighted me immensely and I enjoyed the overall experience.
The highlight of the hotel stay was the fantastic view of Asama in a high ceiling dining room with full glass window. We were able to have different table seatings for both morning breakfast as the hotel occupancy was low, which gave us different perspectives of the scenery.
The other highlight of the hotel is the onsen facility which is located in a separate building on higher ground, accessible via a self service automated tram. Aside from Asama view in the outdoor onsens, there is a common lounge which has equally awesome view of Asama. We enjoyed our time soaking in onsen and resting in the lounge.

I would go back to Prince Asama and experience the scenery during a different season!
GGuest UserThe experience was very good, especially the service of the male waiter at the front desk (didn't remember his name), which was very heartwarming. After checking out, we needed to take a taxi to another B&B, but because it happened to be the weekend and the birthday of the king, and it was snowing all the time, the entire Hakuba car resources were in short supply. It was this waiter who insisted on calling and booking a taxi for us, and finally someone took the order. And he took the initiative to say that it was not easy for us to bring children, and he would definitely try his best to help us call a car.
The environment is also first-class, you can see the romantic snow scenery outside the window, and the water flowing down from the Albis Mountains is too gentle (you must experience it when taking a bath).
It is close to the Happo-Ogen Ski Resort, and you can walk there in five minutes.
See you next time!

GGuest UserThis is the first time I stayed at a Hoshino resort. Perhaps my expectations were too high.
Food quality was the best reason to stay here. The restaurant offers an elaborate menu.
The onsen is the next big feature of the hotel. It was not as big as seen in the advertisement. Perhaps wide angle was used.
Location was not great. Not much to do nearby. The free transfers to Omachi helped to kill time if you have no plan to ski at Hakuba.
Service was patchy. Below are two examples:
1) Asked reception about train tickets conditions in general but the response was we are not train company. We know that but would appreciate help in calling into the train company or checking their website in Japanese.
2) Over a supposedly fancy dinner, the server was rushing us to finish by asking us to move unfinished food items from one plate or another by ourselves to make space for the next dish. I would have expected the server to wait for us. On another occasion, the server left the next dish on the table, with lid closed, without explaining what it is. We were not sure if we should start eating or wait. The server came back in a few minutes realizing that she had not explained to us yet and apologized.
With better service and things to do nearby, the hotel will see happier customers.
YYadiannuo6011Absolutely stunning! The hotel itself is a resort. It's beautiful, clean, and the service is excellent. We rented bicycles at the hotel and cycled to Old Karuizawa, the wealthy villa district, and a park with a pond (I can't recall the name). After that, we hit up the outlet mall, which is super close by. So many brands and great deals – it was a shopping paradise! They even have my favorite coffee shop and a sashimi spot there. We had such a blast, I definitely want to go back in the autumn.
DDunwoWow!
An amazing little Ryoukan in a lovely town with fantastic owners.
This ryoukan is a traditional old fashioned style with a lovely private onsen in pictures
The room was large and your right on top of one of the 9 onsens.
As a ryoukan in the town you will have access to the 9 healing onsens which you can use at your leisure and complete the denyouko towel for blessings
The onsen is run by a lovely lady who is really friendly.
Typical Amenities included plus free yukata and geta to borrow whilst your walking between hot springs plus free cold milk which is just heavenly after a hot soak. Honestly the cold milk really made my day!! 🥰
Air conditioning was very effective considering the size of the room and the breakfast was too much to finish and offered a taste of everything
Lastly you are on top of the onsens as soon as you step out and monkey park is a 25 minute walk north but talk with the Owner, she has a link to the Monkey security cameras so can tell you ahead of time if theres any up there to see currently (i went during Estrus season so no monkeys for me)
When it came to checkout the lady gave me a small bento of Onigiri and Pastries and even drove me down to the local station
10/10 would stay again
GGuest UserThe hotel has a long history, first-class service, comfortable hot springs with beautiful scenery, large rooms that retain their original design, and the bathrooms have been renovated and are clean and hygienic. The kaiseki dinner is a novel experience, and the breakfast is also good. Tubtim, a Thai waiter in the restaurant, is a cheerful person with an infectious smile and top-notch service. It is a very pleasant hotel.
