Hotel Dengan Gim di Bolivar, Colombia

I had higher expectations after staying at other Ibis locations such as in Rio de Janeiro (Posto 5). We stayed in a standard room with sea view which was a nice surprise. The air conditioning in the room was very silent and efficient but the beds not very comfortable. No fridge and I was told none of the rooms have a fridge. The room was of decent size and similar in that to other Ibis of that category. The window could not be really opened. On the bright side we did not hear any noise during our stay though the other rooms around seemed occupied. The space dedicated to the food (restaurant) was unappealing at best in my view. I found the breakfast to be rather basic. Maybe due to COVID there was no self service but people were served by the staff, which at times caused quite a line to form. Overall I found the staff to be rather cold. Not rude but not very friendly. This was true when facing staff at the reception, at the ”restaurant” and in general in the hotel (including cleaning staff). Possibly I got spoiled in Medellin where practically everyone is so friendly, welcoming and helpful... even more so in hotels. Also the reception staff seemed to have to follow complicated procedures probably aggravated by slow computers systems so the check in was not exactly fast. the location of the hotel is ok. It is an easy and rather quick walk to the old city and the airport is very close (in the other direction). The beach in front of the hotel, across the road, is typical for Cartagena, nothing spectacular but again I am probably spoiled. It was quite windy the two days and a few kite surfers visibly enjoyed both the sea and the wind.

This my 8th time here since my bday 2021 and my 3rd birthday so I’m quite familiar w the hotel and staff. I truly enjoy all the amenities, location , ample parking , sauna and steam …on site spa…Yada yada yada. I had a problem last year and mgmt stepped up and went above and beyond to make me feel special. This time they had a convention and wound up giving away my reserved room ( I booked my flight 23 Nov 2023 soooo I’m positive I booked the hotel same day). Naturally they gave me the “corporate “ response but I was calm and insistent that I wanted equal or better to my first and only choice ( I’ve had the same executive suite all 8 stays ). I’d like to send a very special shout out and super big thanks to Valentina who I just met and to my buds Eduardo and Rafael for taking the extra time and patience to find me an even better choice….now I’m spoiled and canNOT go back to the regular exec suite, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; treat people w respect and it’ll come back tenfold and it’s people like those three that make the difference, not AI or Sr mgmt…the people on the front line. Thanks for continuing to make one guy feel special

This is a 3.5/4 stars hotel. For the brand I was expecting a higher level of service and better facilities. The window in our bedroom was dirty to a point we could barely see the outside, some areas are in need of TLC, and some furniture needs replacement. The lighting in the room is not convenient ( either its fully bright or total darkness, no in between). The remote somehow didn’t control the tv (only the tv box). they felt the need to wake us up to remind us we needed to checkout by noon ( which I find cheap, rude and unnecessary). I came with higher expectations and was disappointed unfortunately. Favourable points: good bedding + friendly staff.

Great hotel in perfect location with wonderful pool. The corner suite was fabulous, like a one-bedroom apartment. 1.5 baths! All that was missing was a kitchenette to make it a home. Staff were great. Special mention for Jesús the waiter. It would be my first choice for Bocagrande accommodation on a future visit.

The beds were like falling in clouds and the room was always immaculately clean 😁 the decor in the lobby was well thought about. But my favourite part was the staff they were sooo nice and engaging, nobody seemed like they were not enjoying work and they were very courteous and willing to assist at anytime. Big shout out to my favourite bar tender Luis from the lobby Angél from the Roof top bar, Leslie our lifeguard, Camilla one of our servers Daniella and Oneyeda from Reception and the ever so kind housing keeping staff and the the General Maanger Jacqueline. Shout out to Johnathan and Kenin and Mateo. You all made us Jamaicans who are hard to please very welcomed keep up the good work. The only thing I will say is that breakfast needs to be a bit more diverse as it was the same thing everyday that can get boring. P.S these guys need better pay for the service they Provide.

Bardzo dobry hotel blisko plaży jak i starego miasta. Pomocna i niezwykle uprzejmą obsługa w recepcji. Wyśmienite śniadania z mnóstwem owoców i bez ograniczeń. Takich śniadań w całej Kolumbii nie mieliśmy przez 2 tygodnie. Basen na dachu czynny również późnym wieczorem. Malutki minusik za brak wody pitnej w pokoju, ale chyba w Kolumbii nie ma takiej tradycji. Gorąco polecam ten hotel jak sieć Holida Inn. Wielokrotnie korzystamy z tej sieci na całym świecie I nigdy nie było problemów.

El hotel es excelente para familias y parejas. Tiene diversidad de juegos para los ninos. Tambien puedes usar las piscinas de torres del mar que es el hotel de al lado y pertenece a los mismos duenos. Tambien hay una infinity pool en el piso 10 de torres del mar, super recomendada. El servicio es espectacular, desde el personal del lobby, meseros, cocineros, jardineros. Fue una experiencia maravillosa. Para la playa, el hotel provee sillas y parasoles pero se debe pagar una tarifa de 50.000 COP por dia por ello(12USD Aprox). Todo muy limpio. Esta en un area tranquila de cartagena si lo que quieres es relajarte y disfrutar de las piscinas, el sol y la playa. El desayuno estilo buffet tambien fue espectacular con amplias opciones de comida Colombiana y extranjera. Sin duda volveria de nuevo.

Hotel Dubai is full of quirks and contradictions but overall an enjoyable experience. First up it doesn't shy away from potraying itself as ”middle eastern” style by way of the decor and attire of many of the support staff. Our checkin took a long time, firstly as they couldn't find our booking and then needed to change the name it was made in so I could avoid local taxes but the staff did their best and 2 hours later we were checked in. Needless to say the doorman Julio was very attentive during this and a great help throughout our entire stay. The room was clean, spacious, filled with light and floor to ceiling windows provided a lovely view of the ocean. Although booked for two people, it had only one chair at a small table but also a nice ”sun bed” by the window. The bathroom has a shelf but no mirror. It most certainly could do with some maintenance, the shower screen door would not stay closed, a make-up mirror was sagging, a few of the power outlet were fitted on an angle and their painter didn't pass ”drawing between the lines” at school. This is fairly consistent with the hotel as it feels like it is overdue for a facelift. Head up to the top level and you'll find a ”walk of fear” - a glass bottom floor some 30 floors up to test your nerve. Take the stairs up one more level and you'll find an open air rooftop with a fantastic panoramic view of Cartegena. We opted for the breakfast included. It's a buffet style set up. The food on offer was nice but nothing particularly special. Tip, get in early because they often get a bit behind in keeping up with the supply of cutlery and coffee cups etc. Overall, if you don't mind the quirks you'll find it good value.

Moises was the best waiter! Very kind and attentive. He has such a warm personality and was patient and gracious with my limited Spanish. Ask for him if you dine at the restaurant. I also had wonderful service at dinner with Whitney. The staff here is terrific!

The hotel in nice and the rooms are huge with sea view balcony! This hotel no have private beach so anyone can swim in hotel front beach. When you want to go to front beach and get seats and umbrella you have to pay COL PESO 30.000! In front beach there is a lot of food sellers drink sellers which every 5 min someone gonna come up to bother you that was the only - issue! Rest hotel is great and specially the pools was amazing! Breakfast is good enough! Good for family and group of friends!
