The Aquila Atlantis Hotel has been synonymous with the development of the city for 50 years attracting celebrities and people from all walks of life. The hotel was redeveloped in 2013, and has a calming decor and colour palette, providing a relaxing bar/lounge area in the lobby, fantastic views over the city from its rooftop pool, spacious and modern rooms, and professional, friendly staff.

The hotel is in a perfect location. The staff are all wonderful and nothing it too much for them.

I love this hotel in the center of everything! It is right next door to the Archeological Museum. 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. Fantastic people working there are ready to help in any way they can. Beautiful breakfast buffet included with your stay! Great restaurant to eat at if you are tired and don't feel like venturing out after a long day of sightseeing. The rooftop pool is amazing! As you can see in my photos! You can walk to the harbor easily to check out the Kastro! There is so much to discover and see in walking distance from the Hotel. I highly recommend it to all who need a comfortable, centrally located place to stay! Oh, there are also Taxi, bus and Car Rental places nearby if you need them! Great shopping and landmarks all within walking distance!

On était très déçu. On n'a pas mangé pour la 5e journée car les menus sont les mêmes Seulement quelques choix. Je ne recommande pas demi-pension pour cet hôtel.

The hotel is strategically located within walls of old city between the beach of Ammoudara and the main attractions, not so far from them. Hotel is re-innovated 7 floor building. Rooms are not large, but but enough for the convenient accommodation. The room has the safe, TV, several chairs, table and the wardrobe, electric kettle, air conditioner. There is quite large balcony with two beach chairs and the small table and also drying hanger for the clothes. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of dust in the air from street, so everything gets dusty very quickly. The room has electric sockets next to the beds and two other sockets, one of them with USB port. The personnel speaks English and very friendly and helpful. The avenue Kalokerinou named after the discoverer of the Knossos Palace is quite busy road so it is nicer to live on higher floors. There is a restaurant serving good continental breakfast. There is omelette, ham, cheese, Greek yogurt, flakes, fruits, on the menu. Just 70 meters from the hotel there is Bazaar and in 200 m is Chalkiadakis supermarket, Lidl in 800 m outside of the city walls. All closed on Sundays. The avenue Kalokerinou has several street food places, and if you walk 400 m to Morosini Lions Fountain you can find even more restaurants there. Heraklion has a problem with great beaches, but in 500 m from the hotel there is a Dermatos Bay, where is a wild beach where one can deep into the sea. The proper beach is in Ammoudara in 2.2 km from the hotel. There is another beach in 1 km in front of Talos Plaza shopping mall, but it is rocky and no sunbeds or lifeguard. Another place to swim is the port mole starting from the Kules fortress in 1.2 km. The mole protects from high waves when it is windy and other places are not suitable for swimming.

We arrived by overnight ferry from Athens (Minoan Lines) and the hotel was so close to the port that we decided to walk there as we were backpacking. It took us 10-15 minutes. We entered the hotel at 8AM and were stunned to learn that all three of our rooms were ready for us (6 adults total). I'm sure it was because we were there in the off-season, but it was still a pleasant surprise. The rooms were small, but clean and comfortable. My sister had done a lot of research on restaurants, so we ate most of our breakfasts at one called Crop a few blocks away which was terrific. Net, we didn't pay for/eat the breakfast that the hotel provided up on the top floor. I ran up one morning to check and it looked fine (bread, processed meats, cheeses, a few other things) but nothing that would make you say you had to eat breakfast there. The view was incredible, however. Our rooms did not have ocean views - we faced the street. There were other hotels and apartment buildings nearby and it seemed like a quiet part of town, but again we were there in the off-season. We checked out on our last day around 11AM and they let us store our bags in a locked closet until around 7PM when we caught the overnight ferry back to Athens - very helpful. The staff was lovely, the rooms clean, the location (for our purposes) was terrific so I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

We stayed at the DOM for three nights, exploring Heraklion and its surroundings, like the Knossos Palace. The location of the hotel is perfect - you hear the bustling city just a little bit, but almost no cars. All the bars and restaurants are close-by, a stroll at the sea is also near, and public transport reachable within minutes. The rooms are comfortable, stylish, and hyper-clean, with a tea-maker and an espresso machine provided. Breakfast is rich, with Greek and International food. We also liked that it was constantly filled up again, even shortly before the finishing time. Lastly, every single person of the staff was very friendly, the receptionists, the breakfast waitress, and the cleaning lady. We would return any time. Thanks for a great stay!

Das Personal ist freundlich, diskret und sehr aufmerksam, an der Rezeption, im Restaurant und morgens beim Frühstück. Hat man selten auf diesem Niveau. Das Menu der Halbpension ist wirklich gut. Die Speisenkarte der HP erlaubt es jeden Tag etwas anderes zu essen. Sehr schmackhaft und tolle Dekoration. Ein gelungener Aufenthalt. Das wirklich einzige B-Moll war der wegen Renovierung geschlossene Pool.

Can only echo all the other reviews. From the moment you enter the clean smart reception there is an air of total relaxation. all of the staff were very attentive without being over the top. Special mentions go to Manager owner Petros whose genuine customer service and caring sets the culture for the entire hotel to restaurant staff Manolo and Anastasia both of whom are great characters and made the stay extremely enjoyable. The food was absolutely AMAZING the milanese risotto with ossobucco takes a lot of beating but this was surpassed by the lobster and scallop soup (see photo). We could not fault the room either. Yes is was one of the top rooms the dome suite 532 and yes the views from both inside and the pool were great. There was the coastal rd but did not interfere with the relaxing vibe. Prices within the hotel were very fair, often cheaper than outside (which is fantastic based on the quality). The Cretan wines recommended by Manolo were some of the best we have experienced. Would certainly book this again, just looking for the excuse now.

thank you for a pleasent stay, upgrande of our room and gluten and lactose free meal supply. Animators Carla and Lauda were our favourite ones and our daughter talk about them even we already returned back to home. For her absolutely fantastic holiday. I can´t also forget to mention the Magic Circus Show and the French protagonists. They makes their job so profesional and makes the people smily and happy. That was absolutely good choice of the hotel managers to choose them !! Fingers up who sign them. From our point of view everything was fine. i came here with my boyfriend for a week in june and had such an amazing time. the rooms and facilities were clean, all the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. the breakfast was really nice and the bar service to the pool was a great bonus. My boyfriend and I are only 18 and 19 and were probably the youngest couple there, but we did not feel out of place and there was still plenty to do in the town of chania. the harbour is incredibly lively and exciting- we spent most our nights here. we also saved some money due to free shuttle to and from the hotel which ran up until 12pm - we only needed to pay for a taxi once when we had one late night. would totally recommend this hotel. the restaurant was also delicious on the night and the views/ sunset were incredible. thank you so much royal sun for making out first holiday together so special!!

Superb hotel. Perfect location right on the beach with shallow, clear waters. Sun beds free as part of the hotel plus drinks and food are served to your sun bed on the beach too. The bar area was gorgeous overlooking the beach, with a beautiful sunset every evening around 8:15pm. George and Kostas were so friendly and regularly gave us a free bowl of crisps with our drinks which the children loved. Little touches mean a lot. We stayed in a maisonette which worked great with our 10 and 11 year old as they had twin beds and their own bathroom upstairs, with a sliding door at the top of the stairs for privacy, whilst we had our own double bed and bathroom downstairs plus balcony The room was cleaned every day and clean towels provided daily too. Free towels provided for the beach every day. Agia Marina is a long road of restaurants and shops with Gorgona, Rustic Garden and Nymfi (live music on a Sunday, plus a children’s play area), are all excellent restaurants. Chania was a 35 min bus ride (stop 5 minute walk from hotel) or 15 mins via car €17. Very pretty harbour but very busy! You can’t go wrong with this hotel for a family holiday.

Wir reisten mit einem 1,5 jährigem Kind für elf Tage mit Frühstück. Das Aparthotel ist auch mit Halbpension oder all inclusive zu buchen. Ich hatte das Gefühl dass der Großteil der Besucher all inclusive Gäste waren. Zimmer: wir hatten ein kostenloses Update auf ein appartment obwohl wir ein Studio gebucht hatten. Es war nicht auf der Strandseite sondern gegenüber. Der Balkon war sehr groß was zum Highlight gehörte. Ansonsten war die Einrichtung schlicht jedoch neu und nicht abgenutzt. Die Küchezeile war großzügig ausgestattet mit Toaster und Filterkaffeemaschine zusätzlich zum kleinen Ofen. Es wurde täglich sehr ordentlich geputzt. Ein Hoch auf die Putzfrauen der Anlage. Leider fehlten im appartment kleinere wichtige Haushaltswaren wie ein Handfeger oder ein einfacher Tuch zum trocknen und wischen. Anlage: es gab 2 große poolbereiche. Auf der Strandseite und gegenüber. Wir persönlich haben die poolbereiche kaum genutzt da wir meist zu Stränden gefahren sind. Jedoch wirkten auch die pools stets sauber. Leider gab es den üblichen Handtuchkrieg am Morgen auch wenn schilder dies verboten. Der Strandabschnitt zum Hotel war ausreichend. Sauberer Teil der agia Marina. Die Spielbereiche für Kinder waren leider enttäuschend. Wenig Abwechslung und ohne Schatten in der prallen Sonne. Frühstück: wir waren zufrieden mit dem Frühstück. Genug Auswahl mit kontinentalen, aber auch griechischen Sachen. Standort: Agia Marina ist ein typischer Badeort. 9km von chania entfernt. Guter Ausgangspunkt für die Strände im Westen. Ansonsten gibt es dort all das was es an Badeorten gibt. Supermärkte, Souvenirläden, Tavernen und unmengen an Unterkünften. Fazit: Im großen und ganzen waren wir zufrieden. Auf Reisen in Südeuropa sind wir meist auf der Suche nach vernünftigen Appartements. Das haben wir hier zwar gefunden jedoch ist das ganze mehr auf das all inclusive Publikum ausgerichtet.

What a spectacular location. This hotel is more like a home, with comfortable and large rooms. The amenities, the design features, and the overalll aesthetic is beachy modern old world European if there is such a thing . We thoroughly enjoyed a delightful stay at this gorgeously renovated boutique hotel right on the harbor inside the breakwall in Chania. The wonderful staff is present 24/7. The on site restaurant offers generous portions for a family style breakfast ( included) lunch and dinner. There was need to go anywhere else for breakfast/brunch served til 11, and the dinner was even more amazing with the best service staff and delicious food. Local wine and Raki were flowing as we devoured an incredible dry-aged tomahawk steak, cheese, honey, olives and dessert. This was a perfect location for our family for a 3-day weekend in Crete, our teens had the huge Paper Room with a classic old-world city view and we enjoyed the beautiful seaside Wooden Room on the same floor. Water and coffee are provided at no charge, with a mini bar and soft drinks available in your room. Room service is available from the restaurant upon request. The aesthetic of the hotel is nothing short of spectacular. Five stars in our view - excellent thoughtful amenities, just gorgeously decorated, and soft comfy beds. Located in the Old Town it is safe walking distance to everything east and west in the harbor and town. It’s an easy, very pretty and fun 2-hour drive along the coast east to The Palace of Knossos and a stop on your way back for lunch at the Venetian Harbor in Reythymnon - that day gave us California Highway 1 vibes. Highly recommend.

I will try and keep this review to the point. Arrived for a 7 day stay at this hotel. Hotel looks amazing from everywhere. Booked a dazzling sea view room and when we arrived I realised it was not a dazzling sea view room and was more what other hotels would refer to as a partial sea view room - showing slight sea view from a corner. I raised it with staff who advised it was sea view but could look at it tomorrow which given the time I agreed to. I also raised it with my travel company. The following morning in the afternoon I was shown another room which wasn’t a proper sea view either. Given that I paid a considerable amount more for a sea view I wasn’t happy with the room provided. I showed the guy in reception the photo of the room I chose when booking and he told me that it “was just marketing” to which I responded it’s false advertising - he then walked off and left us. Later in the day we had a call from guest relations to ask how our first night had been etc which was nice and I explained the night had been ok but room wasn’t good. The lady told me I was in a urban city room not a dazzling sea view which I had chosen and paid more for. I later received a call from my travel company who advised that another room would be shown. Guest manager maria advised she wasn’t sure why we had been told it was city urban view but the new room was front facing sea view - we eventually moved on day 2 and there was no reimbur*****t for the days we were in the incorrect room. The new room was good but just a shame that it took so long to resolve as nobody wants a bad start to their holiday. My second critique of this hotel is front reception staff - mainly the men. Their attitude is poor and any questions appear to be a chore for them. When we arrived I asked about late checkout as our flight wasn’t until 11.55pm. I was told to request it a day before which I did. I was then told to come at 9pm and I explained I had dinner reservations but would come later In the night. I already knew there was an additional charge to keep the room which I was happy to pay. I was then told the hotel was fully booked and late checkout was not available now but we would have access to facilities. This again left a sour note to the holiday as it meant we had to rush and pack and then didn’t have comforts of using bathroom or resting etc. I also checked the hotel website and *********** which showed the hotel did have room availability so the guy on reception was being dishonest. I did challenge him On this but he didn’t appear to care and said if I wanted to book another room I could but it wouldn’t be ready until 3pm the next day. I could write so much more about this experience but overall it really ruined the day and final day of holiday. What was meant to be a relaxing day ended up being stressful as we had to be out the room by 11 and then had nowhere to really rest. Now onto the positives because there are some. Sun beds / beach etc is accessible and you can get a be

Great location near Heraklion, a hotel on the beach, nice for chill out moments, golden sand. Menu at the restaurant needs update. Rooms are great too. Entertainment is quite poor, a bit boring , except the one with disco party night. The dj there is really good, and is trying to entertain the guests even though that the most of the guests are families with so many children around, dancefloor looks like a huge kids playground!!! Unbelievable we couldn’t dance because of so many children around, even though that the music was excellent that night. I would wish to see less children the next time to visit this beautiful hotel in Crete.

A stunning and family-friendly hotel with all you could ask for on the grounds. From a beautiful gym, swimming pools galore to an incredible water park on site for not just the little ones but the big kids too… it has it all! The food courts had so much variety too with different settings for different nights. The entertainment kicked in just as I was leaving and the bar side singing was just beautiful, a great touch to the space ito give it that adult-exclusivity feel away from the other areas of the hotel which catered for the whole family.

The most beautiful stay! My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights for a babymoon and it was wonderful. On arrival, the staff had upgraded us to a garden room which was huge with a large balcony, side sea view and incredibly comfortable bed. There was a bottle of Prosecco and cold plate awaiting us in the room. The shower is very powerful and the bath is huge! The whole hotel is stunning and immaculately clean. The staff work so hard to care for the hotel and grounds and it really shows. The restaurants are fabulous. I'm veggie and when asked to review my stay after a couple of days, I commented that the only thing I would change was the veggie options. The following two nights at dinner, we were treated like royalty with specially made or recommended dishes. It was so special and I felt very lucky and cared for at the hotel. Despite the beauty and grandeur, the hotel has a lovely, relaxed feel. Every member of staff we met was friendly, kind and helpful. It is such a nice atmosphere at Amirandes. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff even brought me up some milk when I had terrible heartburn! Just gorgeous people all round. The hotel has a short pathway to a private, sandy beach with plenty of loungers, towels are all included and laid out, no queueing! The sea is calm and clear, perfect for swimming and snorkelling and you can order food and drinks to your lounger if you like too. This was truly a 5 star experience and we will be booking again with our new arrival for out first family holiday without a doubt! Huge thanks to all the staff for making our time so special. We felt immediately relaxed on arrival and were treated like absolute royalty, thank you 😊

We went from 28 May to 4 June. We arrived just before midnight and so were advised to go straight for something to eat and then we were shown to our rooms. Good points - the resort is spotless, I think I saw two items of litter the whole holiday. The food at the buffet was the best of any all inclusive hotel I have been to. Being able to eat at the a la carte restaurants was also a treat. We managed to eat at them all and our favourites were Mademi and Pithos. You can only book one day in advance so top tip is to download the app and at 7.30am bookings for the restaurants open for the following day. This way we got to try all of the restaurants and the food at them all was very impressive and beautifully presented. We weren’t a fan of the main pool which was very busy, Sun loungers were saved early on. But if you explore you will find a pool that suits you. We loved the Pithos Pool, there were always sun loungers available and at times we had the pool to ourselves. Other pools also had loungers available throughout the day. We also weren’t a fan of the beach which is more pebbles than sand and packed with sun loungers but we loved the spot by the sea next to the Medemi restaurant. We always managed to grab a sun lounger and the view of the sea was much prettier here. Great spot for snorkelling. The gyros bar by the main pool is worth a visit for chicken or pork in a pitta wrap with salad and fries. There is also a smoothie/juice bar and ice cream bar next door. The outdoor cinema was also great although we got bitten a lot by mosquitoes so wear protection. The tv in the room had Netflix and YouTube which was great for the day of bad weather we had during our stay. We did struggle to find shelter during a thunderstorm because the bar area was busy but in the original reception area opposite the Estia restaurant we discovered another indoor bar area with lots of seating. The entertainment is less visible than other resorts but I suspect it is just because the resort is so big. They are based by the pool near the water slides. We watched the circus show one evening and the Disney show, both were very good. The staff are all very friendly and clearly take pride in the resort. On one evening my daughter left her bag in a restaurant and as soon as we realised we went to reception and were very impressed that it had already been handed in. We also left a tv fire stick in our room. My husband emailed the hotel to ask for it to just be removed and destroyed. The hotel replied within a few hours to say they had retrieved the device and had posted it back to us. Assuming it arrives back we are very impressed by this level of service. Few ******s if we are being picky… We booked sea view rooms but were on the side of the hotel so had to stand at the edge of the balcony and turn our heads to see a little bit of sea, which was a little disappointing. We were only ever offered one drink with the buffet meals and even with the a la carte book

We were a family of 4, staying for 11 nights, don’t think we managed to see half of the hotel in this time, it’s huge. Although so big it is kept very clean and tidy. We stayed in a superior family room and this was cleaned everyday, also clean towels and bedding provided daily as well bottles of water left each time. Our children are 12 and 15, they had a separate twin bedroom, whilst we had a double bedroom which led onto a good sized balcony, with amazing views of the sunrise. We were room 451 and positioned perfectly for all facilities around the hotel. Only thing I would improve would be the amount of storage, a lot of our clothes had to be left piled up in the wardrobe as not enough space / hangers for all clothes to be hung up. The pool areas were all lovely, we didn’t use the children’s splash pool as our children were older but looked as though there were plenty of beds around that area as well as a snack bar and shop. We mainly used the Olympic swimming pool, always managed to get sun beds, although we did get up early so would probably struggle after 10am. The daily activities all happen around this pool, as well the entertainment songs, you will soon learn “we are the best” and I have to say the entertainment team live up to that song, they work continuously all day and night and are very friendly, although not all evening entertainment was to our taste you cannot fault their enthusiasm and effort. We also used the quieter pool at the top of the hotel, you did have to be up extremely early to get beds there though, they are very comfy sun loungers and lots of parasols to get some much needed shade at some points through the day. There are bars and shops around all pools which is great and the Artemis snack bar has something to offer all day long: pizzas, burgers, chicken nuggets, fish, chips, gyros, salads, rolls, wraps, cake, ice cream, the list goes on, also self service hot and cold drinks all day. There are two main restaurants for lunch and dinner, both can be used for lunch and have different themes. At dinner you will only be able to use one restaurant, depending on your wristband colour (blue or black) Food is the same in both restaurants for dinner but having the different allocations means they don’t get too busy. Food was overall very good, I preferred lunchtimes as the evening can get a bit repetitive but this is very often the case with all inclusive. There are so many different stations and options for different foods so you definitely won’t go hungry. We also booked the Asian night and Greek restaurant and both were good. The Greek restaurant is in a lovely setting with a little church in the grounds. We had an amazing holiday, really can’t fault the hotel at all, as mentioned, it is huge so you will get lots of steps in and quite a walk back from the beach up the hills but I believe there is a shuttle bus at certain times if required, we were quite happy with the walk and visiting the donkeys on the way.
