Very good service, nice staff with and attentive. I enjoy it all jacuzzi and pool. Thank you so much

The hotel is brand new, with beautiful rooms, a lobby lounge, a nice gym and small rooftop pool, restaurant, etc. I really enjoyed my stay, this is the perfect base for exploring Beja and its surroundings. Special kudos to Matheus at the front desk for his kindness and exquisite service!

We had a fabulous 2 night stay at Alentejo Star Hotel last week. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Very comfortable beds. Air con worked very well and it was needed as the temp was 34 degrees ! The pool area is vey pleasant and towels provided. The bar and restaurant were fabulous .Lots of places to sit and the outside terrace was a great spot in the evening. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially ‘Bob’ in the bar. Such a nice man. In the town the remains of the old mine were really interesting and the swimming lake was a great place to cool down. Will definitely be back

Wir hatten uns als Abschluß / letzten Stop unserer Portugalreise bewusst für ein kleineres Hotel entschieden. Vielleicht war der Kontrast, zu den anderen Hotels davor, zu groß, aber wir können uns nicht zu 100% den anderen Bewertungen anschließen. Wir sind recht spät - gegen 18:00 Uhr gekommen - und waren daher auch schon etwas erschöpft. Der Weg dorthin ist abenteuerlich (und diese Info gehört dringend auf die Homepage!!). Wir waren froh das wir einen Mini SUV als Mietauto hatten, aber wenn es dort regnet ist wahrscheinlich nicht machbar die Straße. Besonders am Abend wurde es noch mal schwieriger. Und ja man muss halt dann doch noch mal am Abend los fahren, weil man komplett abgeschieden ist und die ersten Lokale in Millefort sind (ca. 15 Min.). Wir wurden von einer sehr netten Dame begrüßt und haben uns mit ein paar englisch Brocken versucht zu verständigen. Anmeldung war dann via Handy und einem Kollegen in einem der anderen Hotels. Der erste Eindruck des Zimmers - sauber, aber es roch muffig. Der Außenbereich etwas heruntergekommen (Tisch kaputt, die Wand bröckelte). Badezimmer sehr veraltet und die Badewanne fleckig. Es gibt keine Klimaanlage, sondern nur einen Ventilator. Der große Kühlschrank brummt vor sich hin. Beim Schlafen gehen ist uns erst aufgefallen, dass das Doppelbett nicht nur unbequem sondern auch sehr klein ist. Schätzungsweise ist das Bett 1,40 x 1,90. Das Einzelbett für unsere Tochter war deutlich länger. Nebenan bellte bis ca. Mitternacht ein Hund. Die Schlafqualität ist also ziemlich mies. Das Frühstück am nächsten Tag ist familiär und hat gut geschmeckt. Die Möglichkeit Orangensaft selbst zu pressen fand besonders unsere Tochter toll. Leider war es alles in allen kein so tolles Erlebnis und würden wir nicht wieder machen!

At any decent quality hotel we expect to have a good night's rest. Certainly in a 4-star (****) hotel. Unfortunately, this was not the case in this hotel. We have gotten a room at the very east side of the building (opposite side from the reception) and got 'entertained' by a loudly, noisy air-condition type of sound, all night long. It was even not from any neighbouring room, it definitely came from the far east side of the building. Not to mention the overall quality of the room and the furniture, which couldn't pass the 3-star bar.

Been a few times and stayed in the hotel for a long period and truly enjoyed every minute . Very good front desk, Inês, Joana, Carlos. Very good cleaning ladys, sorry but can't remember the names. Had a good menu with lovely food. Good old Manager and chef Gonçalo and a good waitress named Luísa and André and another one a waste of space and i refuse to say is name. Unfortunately a new management just changed all. Now the good menu is gone and have one 1⃣ dish of the day, what a joke. Have a new receptionist (blondish hair)not very nice, disgusting customer service, shame she don't had her badge with her name , taken the place of a good professional. I'm a retired now but been Hotel and Restaurant Manager for about 25 years, with the maximum professionalism and high standards. Now the hotel looks like one 1⃣ bad B&B . What a shame, the hotel owner rented the hotel to people without a clue to ” What to manage ”, and with a lack of customer service . DON'T RECOMMEND TO MY FRIENDS, ONLY TO MY ENEMIES 🤫 PS- all the photos are when the menu was in place. Don't have this beautiful food anymore.

Location is good if you travel by car because of free parking and it's 15-20 min walking to the town center (3-5 min by car). The room was quite big and in pretty good conditions. But there weren't some amenities you expect in a 4 star hotel like slippers, bathrobe or kettle/coffeemaker. Bed and pillows were good. Buffet breakfast was typical (cheeses, hams, eggs, cereals, pastries, fruits) except for lack of vegetables. If you don't want to have an unexpected visit of a housemaid at 9-10 o'clock in the morning (without _any_ warnings like knocking on door or questions) use ”do not disturb” sign!

Defeitos: barulho do ar condicionado do quarto 2, pois a ventoinha está na varanda do quarto 3 (era o nosso) e está solto no chão Deixo uma dica, colocar uma toalha por baixo. Longe do centro/praias (cerca de 2 a 3km), obriga a levar sempre o carro. De resto foi top, piscina muito boa.

Check-in - - - good luck. The two addresses for checking in took us on a frustrating hour and a half journey. First to a closed up office in town. I was lucky to run into a nice local resident who helped me find the second address I was given. This took me to a beach restaurant. The manager there directed me to a hotel about a kilometre away where check-in was completed. When I told them about the address problems, they said it was because we booked through a third party - - - I said that they need to communicate with the third party better if they are allowing them to book their rooms. Whatever - - - just give me my key. With check-in complete, we drove to the accommodation. Poor directions from the hotel but we found our way to a pot-hole ridden gravel road down a steep embankment. We almost turned around as we were unsure if it was the correct road. Finally, the room. It was clean, but felt ”old”. Nothing updated except the windows - - - old kitchen, old bathroom, old bedrooms. Mediocre at best. This place could be ”so much more” with its location.

Enigma is miles off the beaten track and really special. Beautifully clean and light and airy. The bedrooms were superb and spacious. Elena and Anna were professional and very friendly and charming and attended promptly to all our needs and requests. The swimming pools and facilities were really exceptional and we welcomed the chance to lie in the sun after a hard day's cycling in quite warm temperatures. They laid on a tasty meal - most of us had Chicken Stroganoff- which was very tasty. Our waiter worked hard and efficiently to ensure we were well looked after in the restaurant. The breakfasts were extensive and well presented and tasty. The place was in such a remote location that there was no noise at night. The next morning we cycled off down a dirt track for several miles before we joined more conventional roads!

There are few options in Beja for business orientated hotels, and although the Melius is a simple option, it is clean, comfortable and offered me a good night's sleep. Parking is available right outside, if those are taken, there are plenty of other parking places directly across the road or the other side of the adjacent crossroads within the commercial areas. Once inside, check in was straightforward and I was soon to my room via one of the two lifts. Unfortunately, opening the door, I was hit with the heavy smell of cigarette smoke (the hotel is non-smoking), so back down to reception to ask for another room which wasn't a problem. The room was pretty basic, but comfortable. Mine was a twin, comfortable and no problems sleeping. Furniture was no-nonsense: a single chair; fixed desk and a sitting stool. Bit lots of wardrobe space. The bathroom was fine, appointed with a bath with shower fitted above the bath, lots of hot water and pressure. Both the bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. Breakfast is from 06:30 in the separate dining room. Again it is straightforward but easily sufficient: three types of cereals to choose from, a couple of hot options, bread, croissants, some yoghurts a few types of both fresh and tinned fruit, coffee from a machine. So not a grand spread, but perfectly fine for the day. The hotel doesn't really have a lounge or sitting areas, though there is a large bar which opens at 14:00. I was there during the World Cup, so it was relatively busy. They serve evening snacks, not really full-up meals, but I really enjoyed the local tapas for Euro 10.50. No gym, but virtually next door, a gym which offers guests patronage. There are a couple of paddle (tennis) courts out the back of the hotel, with equipment held by reception. In sum, I enjoyed my three night stay here. It offered what I needed; nothing more, nothing less, but in what it did offer it was very good.

Wasn't sure what to expect as we had made the booking through a third party site & it was pay on arrival but the hostel asked for payment beforehand & said they would cancel the booking if the payment wasn't made. I gave them my credit card number but they said it didn't work and in the meantime the third party agency intervened so the hostel agreed to collect the payment when we arrived. Wasn't a great start and we weren't sure what the issue was as it was non-refundable so they would have got the payment anyway. We stayed for 2 nights. Check-in is only at 6pm which is pretty late but we arrived early and were able to check in which was much appreciated. There was free parking on site, and also seemed to be on the streets nearby. Room was basic, but spacious and clean with ample storage space. We were given nice & soft towels as well as two small bars of soap & two rolls of toilet paper. There was a good-sized balcony so we could hang our washing out. No TV in the room but there is a living room near the kitchen where people can watch TV if they want. The mattresses were the old spring variety so not the most comfortable but we were so tired the first night, we were just knocked out! There was aircon in the room but we just slept with the balcony door ajar. It was pretty quiet when we were there so there weren't kids running up and down the corridor as we had feared! Breakfast was included in the price & started at 830 till 1030. There were 2 kinds of bread - a white bread roll & sliced rye (?) bread - 3 cereals, ham, cheese, peach & strawberry jams and honey. There were also fruit (apples and pears) and muffins. The toaster takes a while to brown the bread so it's a long wait but other than that the breakfast, while simple, was good enough to start the day with & the coffee was pretty good. Location of the hostel was good. It's in a quiet residential area near the coach station and a short walk into town. There were a few eateries at the station though most places were closed on Sunday, both at the station and in town, so foodie options were kinda limited. The municipal swimming pool is nearby which is convenient. Overall, we liked the stay as it was a good base for us. We spent some time in Beja & also did a day trip and visited Serpa, Moura & the Alqueva Dam. If you're visiting Beja, give the youth hostel a try and relive your backpacking days 😁😁😁😁 We would not hesitate to return should we visit Beja again in future!
