"Convenient transportation, nice view outside the window. Unfortunately, I repeatedly emphasized the need for a quiet room before check-in, but in the last two days, I was inexplicably disturbed by heavy footsteps and couldn't fall asleep. It might be the guest upstairs, the wall resonance, or the elevator running. In short, I hope the hotel will seriously investigate the cause. After all, *20 is the largest and should be the better room in the hotel. In addition, there are quite a lot of mosquitoes in May, the tabletop is seriously damaged, and the floor is wet after taking a shower, which is easy to slip. "In Alghero, just steps from the historic center, we chose a room with a bathroom. Clean and well-maintained, the room is located on the third floor of a building, in an air-conditioned corridor. We obtained the key and information from staff at the Domomea Hotel, 300 meters away, where we were able to leave our luggage before check-in. The same very kind staff provided us with mats and an umbrella for access to La Pelosa di Stintino beach. I would stay here again and recommend it."

"We stayed at this hotel for five nights, half-board, over the past weekend as part of a group trip. We occupied ROOM 65 on the THIRD FLOOR, WITHOUT AN ELEVATOR. In my opinion, the three-star rating is rather generous, at least for the room we were assigned. From the moment we arrived, we realized that the accommodations weren't up to expectations: the sink and shower had difficulty draining, the telephone didn't work and was covered in dust, giving the impression that the room hadn't been used in a while. That same evening, we asked management if we could change rooms, even on subsequent days, and if necessary, for a supplement. We were told that the hotel was fully booked and that room assignments had been random. However, we later discovered that almost all of the other rooms in the group (about 30) were located in the building with an elevator, many of which were upgraded and had recently renovated bathrooms. Ours, however, had a noticeably dated bathroom. The shower stall, about 70 cm wide and equipped with a folding door, made access particularly awkward and cumbersome. Management explained this as a safety measure, an explanation that left us somewhat perplexed. The bathroom fixtures also appeared very old. My wife also requested a hairdryer with a diffuser, which was provided only upon payment of a €10 deposit. Regarding food, we had to choose the menus for the first two days approximately 10 days before arrival and those for the remaining three days once we arrived at the hotel. Management justified this request with supply needs, given that there was a choice between meat and fish menus. The fish menu was generally satisfactory, while the meat menu often focused on pork dishes. Furthermore, the pasta wasn't cooked to our liking: during our five-night stay, we only found it perfectly cooked once. Finally, the manager noted that the room's quality and comfort were enhanced by the cherry wood furniture and a desk. However, in our opinion, the furniture looked more like a TV stand than a proper desk. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations, and we believe the room assigned to us did not meet the standards expected of a three-star hotel. In our opinion, a room with these features should only be offered at an appropriately reduced price and subject to prior information and acceptance by the guest, which was NOT the case in our case."

"The hotel advertises itself as a 4-star property, but in our opinion it is closer to a 2-star hotel, at best. Up on arrival we received very little information, no information about breakfast hours, housekeeping, or the Wi-Fi. Our room was small, and the beds were old and worn. The mattress was actually shorter than the bed frame. The curtains did not hang properly because the curtain rail was damaged, and it was obvious that the area under the beds had not been cleaned. Storage space was extremely limited, with very little wardrobe or shelf space. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell, was also very small, and the shower was cramped. There was only a tiny shelf (about 10 × 30 cm) for toiletries. The toilet was difficult to flush properly. The room was poorly soundproofed, and we were woken during the night by people talking and walking in the corridor. Breakfast was very basic. There were no boiled or fried eggs, very limited cold cuts and fresh vegetables, but an abundance of sweet pastries and cakes. The staff were friendly, but the overall level of service was disappointing. After three days we wanted to exchange the beach towels, for which we had already paid €10, but we were told we would have to pay again for fresh ones. The hotel’s biggest strengths are its location directly opposite the beach and the pleasant 20-minute walk along the seafront promenade to Alghero’s beautiful old town. We also had a small balcony overlooking the sea, which was a lovely place to end the day with a drink while watching life go by. Overall, Hotel San Marco has a long way to go before it deserves a 4-star rating."

"It's situated in countryside a few kilometres outside of the beautiful city of Alghero. It's a bit different from usual hotels, in the sense that it has more of a rustic, farmhouse feel. Our room was pleasant, again not the generic hotel style, but with old style furniture, shutters on window and so on. Bed and bathroom/shower were fine. There is a nice pool area, nice shaded area under trees for when direct sunshine gets too much. Breakfast is good, tasty pastries, hams, cheeses, homemade cakes and so on. The evening dinner is a set menu. 30 euros for 3 courses. It is limited, it doesn't offer choice. However on the evenings we ate here it was very good home style cooking. Being a bit of a distance outside of the city you would need transport. Hired car, or the staff will happily book taxi for you. It's 15 euros in a taxi into town. Activities can be arranged at the hotel. Jeep safari, horse riding, sailboat trip. Tennis courts looked good. There is a small spa, we booked massage treatments and they were wonderful. Throughout our stay all of the staff were extremely kind and pleasant. All in all a very enjoyable week. If modern luxury hotels are your thing this probably won't be for you. But for a relaxing, rustic week we had a very nice stay."
