"Not recommend. The pool maintenance staff were a big disappointment. There was no water in the toilets or showers. They told us to wait 5 minutes because the water would be back, but instead kept a lady waiting outside ubder the sun for over 20 minutes without any explanation. In the end, reception just said sorry, there was no water."

"We stayed at the Oryx for 3 nights (30/07/-01/08/26) as part of our family trip to Jordan. What can I say?! The service and customer care, was exceptional. Many thanks to Ahmed, Duty Manager, when we stayed for taking very good care of us. All staff go out of their way to help, from front of house to housekeeping. The facilities are great, outdoor swimming pools, sauna, steam, massage and gym. What’s there not to like. Although the gym was not ‘fully equipped’, there was still enough kit to get a decent workout. The food was delicious and the location perfect. Another PLUS was the FREE(!!) shuttle bus service for guests, to the main shopping/dining centre ‘Ayla’ on the Red Sea coastline. After your trip to Ayla, you just call the hotel and the bus will come pick you up at the drop off point. This was so convenient and also saved us money. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay in Jordan even more comfortable and memorable. Our 6 year old daughter really enjoyed her time there. Highly recommended Hotel."

"I felt the need to write a review as the ones here are not telling the whole truth. The hotel tries hard but it’s just not finished yet, and the hotel surroundings leave a lot to be desired. Pros The room is a decent size (1 king and 1 single), our room has a fridge, wardrobe walk-in shower and the staff are helpful. Cons The shower cubicle has no door, it’s essentially open to one side, facing the sink. No matter how careful you are the water will splash into the wider bathroom and the floor and bath mat will get very wet. Not great when there’s three of you in a room. The kettle sits on a unit over the fridge however there’s no plugs nearby, we had to move it to the bedside table to make a cup of tea (in a paper cup) Sadly no water is provided either ( we stayed in Petra and Madaba and both hotels provided water). Also we didn’t know that breakfast is served around the corner in the basement of another hotel, again the staff are very good however it’s not convenient. It looks like there’s a space being built on one floor that might be a dining floor but couldn’t say for certain.We went up to see the pool on the roof but I don’t believe it’s heated, it was pretty cold, I also didn’t see a sauna as some reviews suggested, it’s not particularly pleasant area. Outside the hotel there’s lots of building work and building sites, not the nicest part of town although on 10 minutes down to the beach. It is cheap (£60 per room per night) which along with the reviews swayed us to book for three nights, however I would definitely pay more next time for a more established chain."

"The hotel itself is in a beautiful location. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet is good (unfortunately not every day, seemingly depending on occupancy). However, what was extremely bothersome was the loud slamming of doors, even at night (3:00 AM). And generally, the entire building is incredibly noisy. My room door (210, without a seal) rattled in the wind. Even during breakfast, the kitchen door in the restaurant constantly slams. The hotel should rename itself "Slamming Door." 🛑 I personally would not recommend this hotel. ⚠️"

"Kempinski Aqaba is a good hotel, but my daughter was vomiting the entire night after eating at their Lebanese restaurant — they clearly messed with the food there. Let’s be honest: yes, this is probably the best hotel in Jordan outside Amman. Good location, sea access, solid building. That’s the baseline. Now the reality. After dinner at the Lebanese restaurant, our daughter got severe food poisoning. She ate a very basic kebab — nothing exotic — and was vomiting all night. This strongly suggests old or reheated food. For a hotel of this level, this is unacceptable. Whatever they are doing in that kitchen, it is not safe. Avoid this restaurant. Service overall is weak and poorly trained, with one clear exception: a woman at reception in a red suit. Professional, organized, calm, and efficient. She arranged our diving perfectly within two hours, last minute, everything flawless. Unfortunately, she seems to be the only person in the hotel who actually understands hospitality. One professional cannot compensate for an entire untrained team. Breakfast is chaotic and uncomfortable. Long lines for eggs (15 minutes), long waits for simple tea, small selection, many staff, very little efficiency. The gym is a joke: tiny, badly equipped, and absurdly located above the lobby, so any noise is immediately heard downstairs. Proper training is basically impossible. Bottom line: Yes, Kempinski is the best option here. And yet we got food poisoning, weak service, and poor design decisions. If this is the best, the bar in Aqaba is extremely low."
