Datong Hotels with Bars

"Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion.The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request. The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial. I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time."

"The environment and design of Wantoo B&B are warm and comfortable, and the coffee shop in the courtyard has a very romantic ambiance. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the breakfast is well-balanced. The owner, who prepares breakfast, mentioned that the breakfast menu changes daily, but unfortunately, we only stayed for two days, and indeed, the breakfasts were different on both days. The front desk lady had an excellent service attitude. Since there aren't many supermarkets in the old town, it's hard to find fruit, but she kindly gave us apples and pears. The B&B offers free bicycles and tricycles, and spending a day cycling freely around the old town was truly delightful. It was a genuinely great experience."

"Nice hotel but had issues with air conditioning and service. We booked the windowless room - as we assumed there would be aircon to cool it down - however we arrived and it was incredibly stuffy - and the aircon only made it warmer. We asked at the front desk and they said they’d send someone up to have a look - however all they did was give us some water bottles and the wifi password - which didn’t really help with the aircon! - i think this was an issue with the language barrier moreso than anything else. The room was 30°C (despite it only being about 12°C outside) so it was difficult to sleep or relax. Aside from that it was a nice hotel with a cool exterior and comfy beds. Breakfast cost ~£2 however the buffet selection wasn’t very big and there was no coffee - but the food tasted good. Good location, but if we were to stay here again we would certainly book a room with a window."

"The facilities are complete, the service is excellent, and the breakfast is delicious. The bedding is clean and hygienic, and the lobby is very clean and grand. I recommend staying here again next time I visit Datong. They offer free shuttle service to Datong South Station and Yungang International Airport (reservation required 1 day in advance), which is a fantastic perk. Highly, highly recommend! I'll definitely be back next time."

"Such a wonderfully warm and thoughtful stay! After booking, the front desk attendant sent over check-in instructions. When we missed the underground parking entrance, she even came down to meet us and helped with our luggage. Throughout our stay, she provided excellent, smiling service. The environment is really lovely; our ground-floor room was right next to the courtyard gate, making it very convenient to come and go. Since we didn't book breakfast, she even gave us a snack pack, and we received a souvenir when we checked out. So happy! I've been so busy since returning that I'm only just getting around to writing this review properly."

"Always great, and the location is super convenient. It's close to all the attractions and restaurants. The restaurant on the second floor of the hotel is excellent; if there are only a few of you, you can even order half portions. The hotel breakfast, in particular, is fantastic – everything is top-notch."

"I spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay Location: - Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring. - 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town - 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions - 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets. I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around. Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major. Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening. Room: The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift) Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set! Service: - Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate. - Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge. - I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me. - Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here - Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed. I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!"
