Cari Hotel 3-Star di Datong

Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed. A very good home stay/hotel that I highly recommend for anyone who travel to Datong. It’s at the entrance of the Datong Ancient City, very convenient to walk around for shops and restaurants. The hotel staffs and owner are very friendly to accommodate our needs. Lift is available and good for family with elderly. The pick up and drop off service to stations are the best! There are some problems on the bed sizes when we checked in but the owner resolve in a friendly way. Highly recommended for a special stay!

Wow, I loved this homestay! The lively and kind lady who runs Yishui homestay is a good English speaker and very patient, so foreigners as well as Chinese will feel at ease staying here. It is a very hospitable atmosphere! Location is in the pedestrianized part of the old city, very near the Drum Tower. Therefore, there is lots to see/do/eat while walking nearby. But the location is also not far from the driving road, so it was an easy, short walk to meet my driver when going out to the hanging temple, the grottos, and the train station. The facility is an old-style courtyard home, with a beautiful wood-beam ceiling. The interior rooms are completely renovated and modernized, with great water pressure, all necessary toiletries, an excellent quality hair dryer, slippers, and super air-con/heating! (It was -3 one night during my stay, but I was warm and comfy in that room!) Clean towels are brought daily. Breakfast was included in my stay and I was very happy with the food. It is an ample Chinese-style breakfast, and you can inform the cook if there is some food you don't/can't eat. Although the breakfast was plenty of food for me, I saw a guest ask for more baozi, and he was kindly given 2 more. Fresh fruit was also offered for free several times during my stay. Within a 5 minute radius (walking), there are many eating places for lunch, dinner, snacks, and tea/coffee. There are also numerous historical sites (dragon wall, temples, ”mansions”, the Catholic Church, etc.) in easy walking distance. In fact, there was so much to see nearby that I was not able to see everything! The homestay looks very charming, and many, many people were often seen stopping to take photos in front of the homestay, as well as on the back wall of the homestay, which is next to a Chinese Opera stage--it is especially lovely at night! It is a 10-15 minute walk to the ancient city wall, where you can climb up and enjoy the sights, or visit a (Chinese) bookstore within the city wall, under one of the arches. My Beijing friends, who stayed at a nearby hotel, were equally impressed when they came to visit me in Yishui homestay, and they got the WeChat contact so that they can return to stay at Yishui homestay on a return trip--so easy to get there by fast train from Beijing!

The hotel is located close to a lively area, making it very convenient to explore nearby shops and restaurants. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes. The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day. Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

This is an amazing place to stay. People in Datong are very friendly. And the friendliest ones are in this hotel!! I stayed here for two nights and the staff helped me with a lot of things like ordering food and booking the tickets for museum. They even gave me a present as I left the hotel which I’m very thankful for. The room is pretty nice and has everything you need inside. It’s convinient to get around from this spot. Some people spoke English but WeChat translator was more than enough to have communication.

I’m traveling in China & I have to say that this hotel is the best so far. Everything is top notch. Very pleasant experience. Close to all the major attractions in Datong. Great value. Highly recommend this hotel.

We went to 4 cities during our trip to China: Shenzhen, Datong, Beijing and Shanghai. This hotel in Datong is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in. It has everything: clean, modern rooms, friendly and helpful staff and prime location. Seriously, if you plan to come to Datong you have to stay here, your body and mind will thank you. 10/10 stars!

Great location, easy access inside the old town , room was spacious and comfortable, very clean tidy (nice bed, shower and very quiet). Great breakfast. All the staff were welcoming and helpful!

The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is quite far away from the tourist Center. All have to take shuttle bus to the scenic place from the tourist Center. There are several restaurants around the hotel.
