AAlexander StanickiThe place was very clean, nice comfy beds with privacy curtains. Free snacks, free computers to use and a free laundry. Probably even more which I forgot to mention. The staff was super nice and helpful. I can't recommend this place enough!
If I come back to dating I know where I will stay again!

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

NNoodle KnightLocation is near Datong Ancient City Wall, quite convinient if you want to walk to go inside ancient city. Near hotel there are restaurant and mini market, location is not difficult to find. Room is very neat and tidy, technology of the hotel room is really cool, when you put turn the electricity of the room, the curtain will automaticly close, lamp near the sink will automaticly light when you walk near. Really awesome!
Also receptionist lady is very friendly, there are free self serving laundry too! You can go to building beside hotel in the morning to get breakfast using breakfast coupon. You will be budgeted certain amount and can choose variety of food there. There are sausage, noodles, soup, porridge, and hot drinks. We stay during winter, so hot soup during cold weather is the best. This is worth the price for 3* hotel!

PPengguna TetamuWe went to Datong for the Qingming festival and decided to stay here. It was quite nice as we were well located and the hotel is done in a modern and clean style. Our room was on the fifth floor. I saw some comments about noise levels and how the walls were thin but we had no issue in the matter and the hotel was fully booked out so we would’ve noticed it very easily if it was noisy. The only area that you would hear anything is from the hallway but that’s normal in most hotels. The only thing that wasn’t the best was the shower. The big shower head was cracked so the water would spray in different directions. But the room was spacious and clean I would still recommend it to anyone, and especially datong, it’s a great city and the people there are so kind.

PPengguna TetamuThe hotel is in a commercial building where many tenants have moved out. It feels deserted. Except for its neighbour Han Ting hotel and the minimart beside, there does not seem to have any activity.
The staff are friendly enough. There is no public toilet for the hotel guests. Guests could only use the toilets in their hotel rooms or use the public toilet on the first floor which is disgustingly dirty. It is a hassle for guests whose flight or train is in the evening after checking out in the daytime. I had to use another hotel's toilet in the evening.
The hotel room's shower curtains have frayed at the edge, are a little mouldy and need to be replaced. I suspect that as it is a budget hotel, the management don't care. But the room and its toilet are clean.
On food, the hotel is small so they work with an eatery outside to provide breakfast if you have breakfast included in your stay. The breakfast options are limited so it is better to go out and buy breakfast. To my surprise, there are no breakfast eateries nearby! One has to walk until the cross junction where one sees the Datong Railway Station before there are some eateries. Or, one can walk in the direction towards the Datong Ancient City and along the way, there are some restaurants and eateries. EatWheat 东方削面 is authentic in its local flavour.
The hotel location is near the Datong Ancient City. If you are up for a bit of walk, it is possible to walk there.
If there is an emergency, please go to 三医院 The Third Hospital which is the nearest public hospital with all facilities available. The rest of the hospitals nearby may not be fully equipped.

TTamy MyWorldAroundThe location is just ok, i haven't done so much turism there but ia a bit far from the center, the capsule is very good and they clean everything everyday. There's no stuff there so I had to ask for help to a guy just walking through the street to get in as I needed a code and they weren't answering me throw the app, tried to call them but hunged up when I talked in English.. but a part from that everything was good!

DdavidetravelsWe stayed in a clean modern apartment in a high-rise building. Everything worked as expected. We had a good view towards the south suburban area of the city, but just outside the apartment next to the elevators, we could get a good view on the city center — especially nice at night when the city is lit up. The staff at the reception (located in a restaurant just outside the apartment building) was kind and helpful not only with managing the reservation itself but also helping contact a tourist attraction. We had dinner at the restaurant where the reception is, and can recommend that too, both for great local taste and very cheap prices.

LLouise WayRoom are humid but luckily the front desk willing to change room, since room have the musky smell. Location are near to train station but still u need taxi. Beside of taxi u can't go anywhere. And even no convenient store around the hotel. U need to buy whatever u need before coming back to hotel

PPengguna TetamuThis hotel is really really beautiful - maybe even more than the photos show. Even though the style is traditional, everything inside the room is new, and there's even an elevator to take up bags. The location is amazing too, inside the old city wall, and I walked everywhere except the out of town attractions I visited. I think anywhere you stay in Datong you might have some communication challenges if you don't speak Chinese, but the owner here was very helpful once I put wechat on my phone to be able to talk with translation help, and he was able to arrange a last minute taxi out to the hanging temple after I had given up trying to get one. However, even though he was very helpful, he wasn't always around, and checking in was a bit difficult because there was nobody at the desk. I think this is only a problem if you don't speak Chinese though.
Unfortunately, the wifi didn't always reach to my room on the 3rd floor well, and I could only get a trickle of hot water out of the shower. Overall though, I was super happy with this place and would recommend it!
