The hotel has two buildings; the Welcome Building has older facilities, while the VIP Building is better. The breakfast spread is very rich, offering many local Datong delicacies. The lamb offal noodle soup, in particular, is very authentic and just as good as what you'd find outside."

"The hotel's location is fairly convenient, and there's ample parking right outside. The overall style and decor are typical of an older, government-affiliated hotel, which means it's a bit dated. In-room facilities aren't new; the TV is small, and the toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, etc.) are of very low quality – completely unworthy of the price. Housekeeping was average, and the cleanliness was acceptable. What I really want to emphasize is that during the peak summer travel season, most families travel with children, and the way the staff at the hotel breakfast entrance handled things was totally inappropriate. Regardless of whether guests had breakfast vouchers or not, their tone was incredibly annoying and infuriating. They spoke to everyone entering with a hostile tone, demanding room numbers and names as if we were criminals. I wish they would learn from well-run resort hotels, which prioritize service before payment. I even overheard the staff at the entrance telling some families, 'So-and-so asked us to take care of these guests,' which was utterly unbelievable. Seeing this kind of service first thing in the morning really sours your mood for the entire day. Breakfast recommendation: The knife-cut noodles are delicious. Friendly reminder: For families traveling, I'd strongly advise you to think twice and choose a hotel with better service."

I feel like I have a good sense of what a five-star standard should be. This time, I was traveling with my two elderly parents to Yanmenguan Pass and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and I wanted to pick a good hotel in Huairen for a comfortable stay. Traveling with seniors isn't easy, so a higher price was fine; comfort and peace of mind were most important. That's why I specifically chose the best five-star hotel in the area. Our arrival in the afternoon was quite smooth. The front desk staff were friendly and polite during check-in, and at that moment, I felt like I had made the right choice. The room looked generally clean, with crisp white sheets and duvet covers – visually, everything seemed fine. After helping my parents settle their luggage and take a short rest, we went out for a stroll in the evening. I found Huairen to be a pleasant city with a slow pace, not as noisy as a big city. We even had dinner with my parents nearby, and they seemed quite happy walking back to the hotel. Around 11 PM that night, after my parents showered, they mentioned the bathroom floor was a bit slippery, and water seemed to be seeping out from under the shower door. It wasn't extremely severe, but since my parents aren't very steady on their feet, having water on the floor made me constantly worried they might slip. I actually checked it myself, and while the water pressure was good and the hot water came quickly, it seemed the sealing strip of the shower door was either aged or warped, causing water to leak out. We reported it to the front desk, and a cleaning lady came over about fifteen to twenty minutes later. Her attitude was good too. Afterward, the front desk arranged for us to move to another room. Although moving rooms was an inconvenience, having to repack everything late at night and tiring out my parents, they did handle it proactively. I can't say they did nothing; it was just a bit slow in terms of efficiency. But eventually, we did get a new room, and their attitude remained polite throughout. The second room had no issues. Upon entering, I checked everything, and the cleanliness was similar to the first room – very clean. The bedding also had no strange odors. My parents quickly fell asleep after lying down, which was a great relief. Because the first night was quite hectic, none of us slept very well, so we didn't plan a packed itinerary for the second day. We just explored around the hotel, and my parents found the slower pace more comfortable. There's one more thing I want to mention: personally, when I travel for work, I really value the gym and swimming pool, so when I booked this time, I assumed a five-star hotel would definitely have these facilities. However, upon arrival, I found that both the gym and swimming pool were currently under renovation. The entire floor was cordoned off, so I couldn't use them. I asked the front desk, and they confirmed it was being renovated but couldn't give a clear date for when it would reopen. In any case, I couldn't use them during my two-day stay. Although they are renovating and will certainly be available in the future, I didn't get to enjoy them this trip. For someone like me who is used to swimming in the evening or jogging in the morning, I felt a little disappointed, as when I travel, I like to use these hotel facilities to maintain my exercise routine. Overall, the cleanliness of the room itself was satisfactory, and the mattress firmness was moderate. The staff, from the front desk to the cleaning crew, were generally friendly and didn't show any impatience or rudeness. However, the sealing strip in the shower really needs to be replaced; these small details should be paid attention to in a five-star hotel. Plus, with the gym and swimming pool undergoing renovation, the two amenities I valued most weren't available, which definitely detracted from the experience. If I come back to Huairen after the renovation is complete, I might consider staying here again; the experience should be much more complete then. This time, I'd give it a combined score of 2.8, for the reference of future guests."

"I visited the Yungang Grottoes during the summer holiday and heard great things about this hotel's restaurant, so I decided to stay here. It truly exceeded my expectations; the food was amazing! We had dinner at the Chinese restaurant both nights we stayed. Even around 8 or 9 PM, the place was still bustling. Hotel guests get VIP access to the queue, which was a nice perk. My only minor disappointment was the breakfast, which was a bit subpar. The rooms were clean, and we received complimentary fruit and chocolates every evening. It's a trustworthy place, and I'd definitely return if I have the chance. The aged vinegar cola in the restaurant was also a bit cheaper and tasted good!"
