"Great location, just across the street from Duke East Campus, with a gas station and convenience store right next door. The facilities are very well maintained, and the rooms are spacious with a full kitchen. Parking is QR code-activated and there's also an indoor parking garage. The room was spotlessly clean. Overall, it's a fantastic choice in Durham."

"The hotel itself was modern and clean looking on the inside. The outdoor windows, especially the exterior wall of windows by the elevators needed a cleaning to clean the window and debris from the area. The outdoor pool area was clean and attractive, although the door out to the area was broken and an alternative exit was needed (and provided). The room itself was nice, but the pull out couch was very uncomfortable, and I would not consider this a viable option for use. The bathroom barn style door, while attractive, does not minimize bathroom noises to those in the rest of the hotel room. Breakfast was the biggest issue with the dinning area not large enough to fit the guests there to eat. The food was frequently empty, which led to many people standing around 10+ minutes for things to be refilled, which happened VERY slowly. Only one employee was in the area, and seldomly appeared. They were often out of plates/bowls/various food items. When I asked the one employee a question about if they had more of something, they laughed at me, said "I don't know", and walked away to do something else. While none of the issues were severe, we would not return to this hotel, nor would the others we were traveling with."

"Decided to choose Unscripted for some photos for an upcoming project. The older look of the hotel was what I looking for and it did my photos justice. The hotel gives off an 60's, 70's or 80's vibe which I thought was cool. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The igloo restaurant added and touch of Christmas holiday vibe. Pleasant views of downtown Durham from the pool deck. Overall my stay was very good."

"Curtains were ripped, stuff was unplugged such as the TV, my room card kept messing up not allowing me into my room — causing me to goto the front desk and ask to get it fixed. Couldn’t control my AC as well so I was very cold."

Red Roof Inn Durham - Duke University Medical Center ★★
"It's definitely the cheapest hotel you can find around Duke. You can take a bus from the airport to the hotel (remember to ask the driver for a transfer ticket when transferring), which costs $2.50 compared to $50 for Uber. If you're going to the Duke campus, it's a 20-minute walk to another bus stop; just follow Google Maps or the transit app. There are fast food restaurants and supermarkets right outside the hotel. These are the good points. The bad point is the hygiene. The room had a strong odor upon entering, making it seem unhygienic. I later discovered it might be due to poor ventilation in the bathroom. Overall, the stay wasn't great, and the smell made me think other areas might not be very clean."

"The lobby bar has Starbucks coffee and tea for purchase. The room is spacious and clean, and looks quite new, but the air conditioner is a bit noisy when it is working. I don't know what's wrong with the fire alarm system, which is very disturbing. It went off in the afternoon, evening, 5 am, and 7 am during the two days of stay, and the duration varies, but there was no fire."
