"When I was about to check out, the receptionist told me that I hadn’t paid the city tax, even though I had already paid it in coins when I checked in. I was surprised at first, but it turned out that the receptionist who checked me in had forgotten to record the payment in their system. Fortunately, everything was sorted out. All good! The staff were very kind and gave me a lower bed because I can’t climb to the upper bed."

"Absolutely outstanding service across all departments, lush gardens, well maintained grounds & high hygiene standards! Beautifully decorated rooms (every one of them is unique!) with well preserved history of this fantastic property, right in the heart of the busy city - yet it’s a peaceful, green, well hidden gem! This is probably the best night sleep we’ve ever had (amongst all other hotels we have visited in different parts of the world), so much that we purchased some pillows! We highly appreciate your kindness, generous talks, delicious food & outstanding wine selection, but most importantly - your gracious service! A heartfelt thank you to ALL of you (in front & behind the scene) for looking after our comfort, but especially to Ann, Brit, Jasper, Earde & Sam. We’re excited for our return soon!"

"We wanted a bath, so we booked a deluxe double room with bath. It was an exceptionally large room with high ceilings. This also made it difficult to get warm. We understood when checking out that their was a second heater in the room. Also the bath was in the room (not in a bathroom and therefore enclosed) and that was not really comfortable as the outside temperature of the room was quite cool. When we stay there again we will stay in a smaller room and then without the bath. What made the stay was the pop-up restaurant in the souterrain. That was really fabulous and different. It offered vegetarian tapas-like menu but really delicious and of high quality. There was also meat options as sides. Everything was really tasty and very reasonable!"

"The hotel is not near the train station but quite a walking distance from the old town. There’s a bus stop nearby if you’re too lazy to walk, but it’s about 2km to the Groningen Train Station. We tried to walk in the morning to take pictures and enjoy the scenery, and it’s not that far (but can be the case when you have to lug your large luggage). There’s no free champagne given, unlike the other branches, but the receptionist was friendly and offered tickets as a replacement, which we could claim either tea, coffee, or beer. It’s great to stay here even when it’s not as near to the train station as the Eindhoven one."
