Our stay at Bo Yuan’er Platinum Courtyard Hotel in Datong was outstanding. The hotel enjoys an excellent location right in the heart of Datong’s Ancient City. Being situated in the pedestrian zone means it is wonderfully quiet at night with no traffic noise, yet it still offers the convenience of an underground parking garage for guests arriving by car. The hotel is newly built with beautiful traditional-inspired architecture, and the rooms are luxurious, spacious, and finished to a very high standard. Everything felt modern, elegant, and exceptionally well maintained. The Chinese breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious dishes. Every morning was a pleasure. What impressed us most was the genuinely warm hospitality of the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, professional, and always happy to help with any request. They kindly offered us a late checkout, which made our travel plans much more comfortable. As a final surprise, we even received a thoughtful gift when we left—a wonderful gesture that perfectly reflected the hotel’s exceptional service. We highly recommend Bo Yuan’er Platinum Courtyard Hotel to anyone visiting Datong. It combines a perfect location, beautiful accommodations, outstanding breakfast, and truly first-class hospitality. We would gladly stay here again.

I had an amazing stay at Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard in Datong! This hidden gem offers a traditional Chinese courtyard experience with a cozy and authentic vibe. The location is ideal—just a short walk from Huayan Temple and Nine Dragon Wall. The rooms were immaculately clean, making it easy to relax, especially after staying at a larger hotel that wasn’t as spotless. The bathroom amenities were incredible—featuring a wooden comb, two electric toothbrushes, Sensodyne toothpaste, a high-quality nail clipping set, a shoehorn, Listerine, and lingerie soap, all beautifully packed in an embroidered red pouch, free of charge. Breakfast was delicious, with a carefully prepared set menu. The thousand-year congee was unbelievably good! The hotel even has a small exhibition room, adding to its charm. There's no complaint on anything here. It's all perfect to me! Overall, Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard is a fantastic blend of tradition, comfort, and thoughtful hospitality—highly recommend it!

We had such a lovely stay in Datong! The hospitality here truly exceeded our expectations. The host was incredibly friendly, caring, and always ready to help with anything we needed. They even offered to do our laundry while we were out sightseeing, and folded everything neatly after it dried — such thoughtful service. They also helped us order food and gave great recommendations, which made our trip so much easier. The room itself was surprisingly high tech, with a fun sound control system that made the stay even more enjoyable. Although the room is on Level 2 with no lift, the host kindly carried our luggage up during check in and brought it down again when we checked out. Their helpfulness really made a difference. Breakfast was lovely — nutritious, tasty, and just the right kind of start before heading out to explore. Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Datong.

The service was good, the breakfast also good and so was the staff. Friendly and kind! Initially we received a family room which has been smoked in previously although it was a NON smoking room. We were so tired that evening that we did not change room. The next evening the staff offered us another room and kindly helped us to move our luggage. Note, there was an ashtray in the NON smoking room as well.

I am glad that I chose this hotel because it is well located and its service is superb. Located quite near to the North Gate of the Datong Ancient City, away from the hustle and hustle of the South Gate, this hotel is a hidden gem. Much thought had gone into the design of the hotel and you can feel that the whole place, from decor to small details, is designed with the guests in mind. The light wood decor is calming and the layout of the room is very functional. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, are well trained and polite and they go all out to make your stay an unforgettable one. Small touches like a light supper and fruits delivered daily to your room make you feel that they care for you. Worth mentioning are Manager 张 who is very helpful and helped me when I had some problems on my phone; Manager 苗苗 who is always smiling and ready to help; and housekeeping staff 张润琴 who is attentive and paid attention to our requests and checked to make sure everything in the room is alright. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. Would definitely stay again! 美丽的新酒店。非常友好的工作人员在国定假日期间为每个房间提供了两份礼物。房间感觉宽敞豪华，阳光明媚，在非常繁忙的假期期间大部分时间都很安静。酒店餐厅也很美味，服务很好。我们在那里吃了两次饭。我们每天也吃早餐。非常好的质量，包括很多当地食材和选择，太棒了！酒店位于古城区，交通便利。步行即可到达一家非常不错的咖啡馆，那里有美味的咖啡、许多餐馆和所有主要景点，包括出售古代宝藏的弹出式巷道市场。老实说，这是一家很棒的酒店，感觉物有所值。一定会再次入住！

I’m traveling in China & I have to say that this hotel is the best so far. Everything is top notch. Very pleasant experience. Close to all the major attractions in Datong. Great value. Highly recommend this hotel.

雖然回家已經好幾天了，但是，對店家的評價卻一直念念不忘，今天終於有時間補上。幾年來出門訂酒店，這一次的體驗是最貼心的，印象也最深刻的。全屋的設計，智能的體驗，還有那一套茶具，都超級喜歡，孩子最是找到了品茶的感覺。配套的餐廳好吃又不貴，也遠超我們的期待。最難得的是老闆的態度，細心，體貼，熱情，有給孩子單獨準備的拖鞋，老公去接免費的現磨咖啡時，服務員小姐姐還貼心的送上了一個小小的保温杯，給我們的旅程增添了很多的意外驚喜，更重要的是那一份温暖，讓我們這些在路上的人，對渾源，對山西，都增添了很多的好感！下次再來，一定還選這家！老闆生意興隆！

It was a very pleasant stay in the hotel. I stayed for three days and I enjoyed the comfortable and spacious room with its soft floor, the adjustable illumination and the goodies which I received daily as well as the breakfast buffet, which included a variety of Chinese food, salad, fruits, toast, cornflakes, little cakes and freshly made noodle soup.

Nice hotel but had issues with air conditioning and service. We booked the windowless room - as we assumed there would be aircon to cool it down - however we arrived and it was incredibly stuffy - and the aircon only made it warmer. We asked at the front desk and they said they’d send someone up to have a look - however all they did was give us some water bottles and the wifi password - which didn’t really help with the aircon! - i think this was an issue with the language barrier moreso than anything else. The room was 30°C (despite it only being about 12°C outside) so it was difficult to sleep or relax. Aside from that it was a nice hotel with a cool exterior and comfy beds. Breakfast cost ~£2 however the buffet selection wasn’t very big and there was no coffee - but the food tasted good. Good location, but if we were to stay here again we would certainly book a room with a window.
