📍 Pastor Diaz Ave, Barrio Los Faroles, Jaco

"It’s a good hotel but definitely not for the price that I was charged. I spent 2 nights there for almost ¥4,000, which is the price of, say, the St Regis in such expensive cities as Shenzhen or Hong Kong… The garden and swimming pool area of the hotel are truly nice but the rooms… I wouldn’t pay more than ¥200 a night… Mediocre."

📍 Playa Jaco, Punta Arenas, Jaco

"Brand new building, same great view and service. Your favorite staff are still serving and the food is a smart combination of Costa Rican (order the ceviche with plantain and yuca chips) and international fare (quesadillas and burgers). Have the date night dinner in the hotel restaurant or a sunset dinner on the beach."

Hotel Cabinas Jacomar ★★

📍 Calle El Bohio 50 m al Norte de la Playa, Jaco

"Cabinas Jacomar is a budget-friendly place located right in the heart of Jacó, just a short walk from the beach. The rooms are basic but clean, offering essentials like air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The staff are friendly and helpful, making guests feel welcome. Its central location is convenient for exploring Jacó’s shops, restaurants, and nightlife. However, due to this, noise can be an issue, especially for light sleepers. Some rooms may have limited amenities such as inconsistent hot water. Overall, Cabinas Jacomar is a practical choice for travelers who want affordable, no-frills accommodation close to the beach and town center."

"Excellent little hostel, spotlessly clean in a nice quiet part of town. The beach is beautiful just down the road and the staff were very nice too. I sadly forgot to take a picture of our lovely room but we had 3 pillows each, 3 towels, lots of plug sockets beautiful shower and a fully equipped kitchen, also spotlessly clean. It’s just a shame we could only stay one night!!"

"Our stay was a complete disappointment. We booked the hotel as Emma Hotel, however when we arrived, there was no sign with that name at the entrance — instead, it said Izus Place. This immediately raised concerns. The hotel was very dirty, with unacceptable hygiene standards. Breakfast was extremely poor and low quality. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, in my opinion it does not even deserve 2 stars. I would not stay here again and definitely would not recommend it to anyone."

"We went deep sea fishing earlier in the day and brought our fish to Clarita's to include with our meal. We were offered to cook all our fish, served with rice, beans and plantain. The cost was $20.00 each for the three of us. The price seemed high, but we were hungry and the beach atmosphere at sunset was wonderful. Our meal came rapidly, and the service was efficient and friendly. Unfortunately, they kept half of our fish and substituted a cheaper, deep-fried, boney fish (Pargo) for our beautifully prepared, bone and skin-free, grouper fillets. When I complained that they did not serve our fish to us, I got the "I'm caught but will pretend I don't understand" look. I kick myself for not being able to adequately converse in Spanish. In short, I suggest going somewhere else if you have your own fish to prepare. Additionally, if honesty is important to you, I would avoid this business. There are numerous other restaurants that more deserve your tourist dollars."

"Jaco really isn’t for families anymore. The hotel shows a picture that it is next to an empty plot: Well that is a 20 story building now. Some AC units are too old, making very loud vibrations. We had 2 cockroaches in the room despite closed windows. If you need to be in Jaco, check out the hotel on the other side of the creek. If you have a choice, drive a couple more kilometres to a nicer village."

"The front of the hotel can be misleading, as the hotel is actually quite nice. The rooms are pretty good. The pool area is large and well designed, and have a bar right there. A lot of the rooms have view to the pool. The tennis/basketball/indoor soccer field is great, with roof. They have pool tables, table tennis and foosball. The restaurant is 24/7, which comes in very handy, and also adds the advantageof not being tied to a specific schedule for the free breakfast that's included. Parking can be a little confusing at first, but it's actually close to the rooms (I would improve it by addign signs on the road indicating how to get to the parking lot)."

"Had an excellent stay in June. The mixed dorm had great AC, the pool and rooftop were lovely, and the breakfast was riquísimo (I recommend the burrito). A super short path away from the beach (the southern end of Playa Jacó, which I find to be nicer). The only downfalls: it's on the southern end of the strip, so you might be walking a bit to explore town, and while each floor has 2 bathrooms with 2 showers and 2 toilets each, some faucets didn't work and stall doors stuck, so high season might be tricky. Overall a great spot and I'll stay again when I get the chance!"
