Aqua Viva Suites

"Stayed in one of the one-bedroom apartments at Aqua Viva suites while visiting for a a week's diving holiday with my son last October. The apartment was clean, spacious and well furnished for our needs. It also led onto its own terrace and there is a small pool located in the garden. They have a great diving package deal with VIP Diving located right next door which includes unlimited air and also came with a rental car for our entire stay. Great for getting to dive sites and generally getting around. The staff were very friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile for their customers. We accidentally left some things behind in our room at the end of our stay and they very kindly sent them home to us - brilliant service! If you're looking for somewhere to stay for your stay in Bonaire I would highly recommend Aqua Viva Suites"

Sonrisa Boutique Hotel - Adults Only

"We spent a fantastic holiday on Bonaire and stayed 10 days at Sonrisa, a small, cozy resort with clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious home-baked bread for breakfast. Unfortunately, there was also a downside that affects my rating. When we arrived, the manager explained that diving on the east coast depends heavily on the weather and that the next day might be the only opportunity. He offered to arrange a guide for USD 55 per person per dive. We agreed, and the next morning the guide convinced us to do two dives instead of one. On the last day, however, our bill showed USD 70 per dive. When we politely asked about the difference, we were told that prices were published online and that the manager could not have quoted the wrong rate. After asking for clarification, Beat, the owner, replied that it was “word against word,” insisted the manager had given the correct price, and said he was “sick of playing games.” That felt like an accusation of dishonesty. I said we would pay the higher rate but expressed disappointment about how it was handled. Beat then said he would “turn the tables” (German: den Spiess umdrehen), accusing us of treating the rental car badly and charging USD 50 for “excessive dirt.” In my view, some sand inside a car is normal on a sandy island. Beat remarked that he wouldn’t have said anything if we had removed the sand from the floor mats, something he could easily have asked us to do in five minutes. (On the first bill, this charge did not appear.) In that context, Beat also brought up an earlier incident when he believed we had scratched the car (which turned out, after rinsing, to be only dust) and claimed we had driven into salt water in the national park (which was not true). Another point future visitors should know: Sonrisa tracks its rental cars via GPS, something not mentioned to us. Beat used this to accuse me of speeding as evidence of poor car care. While it might be possible I exceeded the limit occasionally, I drove much more slowly than most locals, and roughly at the same pace as the hotel staff during our airport transfer. Without this unpleasant ending, I would have clearly recommended Sonrisa. Most of our stay was excellent, but the final day and the way the disagreement was handled were disappointing."

"We booked a drive, dive and stay with Bamboo Bonaire and couldn’t have been more pleased. They’re connected with the VIP dive shop and have tanks and analyzers on site so there’s no need to travel through the town when starting your day with the northern dive sites. This was really great for the early morning dives we did. We chose the room with a plunge pool and we used it every single evening. It was a great way to cool down and relax after a day full of diving. It was really hot during our visit, so the cool water felt great. The room was very comfortable, AC worked well and the bed/linens were top notch. They give you a cooler to use throughout the week which was fantastic and a nice touch. It was great to have ice cold water waiting for us in the truck after our dives. The bathroom and shower are located in your private open air space. We were a little concerned when booking the place, but it turned out really nice. The outdoor shower was great, and it keeps the room from feeling humid after showers. Although it’s open air, it’s still very private with high walls surrounding your whole outdoor space. Chefs restaurant is onsite and you cannot miss it. Make your reservation early (several months or you won’t find a spot). It’s priced at a premium, but the experience was worth it. We had such a great time. Other than Chefs, there are no other lunch or dinner options available, but we walked to dinner every night. It’s a short walk to 2-3 good spots to eat. We’d absolutely stay here again."

"💩 place honestly, The tap water tastes like it comes from a swamp. The douce in the shower is installed wrong so when u shower theres water going everywhere. The room was fulll of dirt where u couldn’t even walk without sandals in the room and under the beds are still junk from the last people that stayed . Theres mold in the bathroom . Theres no tv (the picture showed on the site had tv) Our stove only has one pit that works so when u want to cook it takes a good 1/2 hours. Early in the mirning theres people talking LOUD in your door . And last but not least , it says that every 2 days tour room gets cleaned and u get fresh towels , ive been staying here for almost a month and never got that service. And when u text them and tell them that you are not happy they ignore you. Soo if youre looking to stay just dont expect anything from them."

"Once again very well received. The food was super tasty and the location is ideal to stay as a diver or as a tourer. We have been here 7 years ago and have noticed that the accommodations need some refreshment. The swimming pool can be busy because of the locals and schools."
