Hotel berhampiran Funahashiya, Kyoto

The hotel is a bit business style and the TV in the room is quite small. The hotel comes with swimming pool but you need to pay extra to use the amenities (about $10-20 per person). We felt the locals (taxi driver for example) aren't really welcoming foreigners (English speaking) and might act a bit rude, but besides that, the town is quieter than Osaka and we enjoyed dining at Yakiniku Yaruki - Shijo Kawaramachi (all you can eat BBQ with wagyu beef).

This was by far the best accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Japan. I was a bit hesitant to book it as other reviews said it’s far away from everything, but it’s not. A short/cheap taxi from the train station (1000-1200 Yen) self-serve check in and self-serve luggage storage (which was a blessing!) We stayed in an apartment, spacious, modern, clean, separate bedroom, washer/dryer, bath and shower and full kitchen. I would live in this apartment if I could! There are staff in the reception area during certain times if you need help. The bus stop is right around the corner. Food options nearby.

四条堀川の交差点直ぐ近くにあるホテルです。深夜にチェックインしたのですが、フロントの方は親切で、嫌な顔もせずに対応して頂けました。部屋も奇麗でアメニティも充実しており、充電用のUSBポートもあって非常に助かりました。ただ、大浴場を使うことが前提なのか、部屋にはシャワーブースしかありませんでした。部屋でゆっくりと湯船に漬かりたい方にはマイナスかも知れません。個人的には大浴場の方が嬉しいので、全く問題はありませんでしたが。 交通の便が良い点も良かったです。四条堀川のバス停からは京都駅だけでなく、金閣寺や清水寺、東寺、二条城、嵐山など有名観光地にも一本で行けますし、祇園や河原町の繁華街へも乗り換えなしで行けます。一度乗り換えが必要になりますが、南禅寺や銀閣寺などにも行けます。少し歩けば阪急の大宮駅や嵐電の四条大宮駅がありますし、観光にせよビジネスにせよ非常にアクセスは良いです。ホテルのすぐ南にはファミリーマートがありますし、その先にはセブンイレブンもあるのでちょっとした買い物にも困りません。 宿泊費もリーズナブルでしたし、お勧めのホテルです。

Nice hotel , clean and kind staff, specially room cleaning lady was nice. everyday free water bottle. Free wifi. The room was compact but bath tab was not so I could relax legs in bath after walking a lot. Close to big size seven eleven, I could get goods and morning coffee. There is green tea bags in the room. I wished select tea and coffee and tea bag like amenity.

The location is excellent and right in the downtown of Kyoto but not in the front street which will be too crowded and noisy, still there were some noisy from the restaurants and bar nearby which still played loud music even after 12:00AM, so not ideal for those people who needs total silence to sleep. This is probably the necessary evil when live in the downtown hotel, but the hotel is already in the back alley so felt a bit better. Cannot consider the service top quality since the hotel front desk is located at 8th floor, and there is only one person tending the luggage at ground level till 6PM, so no service can be offered at ground level, this is the part can improve since some of the high floor hotel do have ground floor service crew unless in a big commercial building complex. The room is nicely decorated and everything feels new, no complaint about the room. Although the breakfast is a bit disappointed given the very limited selection of foods and Japanese style breakfast can only offer limited number (25 serving per day?), this part can definitely make some improvement, at least inform the guest about the limited number so we can book in advance.

The room is great and the view is awesome. Room is clean and tidy. Access to Kyoto Tower and Tourism Guide Center(inside the train station) is effortless if you compare to other valuable hotel. You may also buy bus ticket to Fuji Q-Highland in the next building. Transportation is easy if you stay there. The service is quite nice since the staffs are very helpful and so kind(full of smile). Also, they're quite good in English. You may also get the discount voucher to get into Kyoto Tower Observatorium Deck. Amenities are basic, should be added, like shaving kits, etc.

良い所はホテル事情の悪い京都なのに、とにかく部屋が広い！事。　 　部屋はダブルベッドでしたが、もう一つベッドが入るくらいのスペースがあり、スーツケースを広げて荷物整理が余裕で出来ます。このクラスの宿ならベッド以外の空間が無いホテルが多いこのご時世に、貴重な広さです。 七階建てで北側はともかく南側は四階まで隣のビルがあるので、窓はあれど大変な圧迫感があります。寝るだけ、ではない場合は上層階が良いでしょう。 清潔感や備品は問題無し。 立地は微妙。 鴨川高瀬川に近く河原散歩等好適。四条河原町まで十分徒歩圏内。 でも、歩いて「すぐ」でもない。 再訪するか？ 一番ひっかかるのは交通の便でしょう。 　京都駅とのバス停は近く本数も多いのだけど、その路線は河原町・祇園・先斗町・清水方面なので 　とにかく混雑がひどい。 大きな鞄ならタクシー必須。歩くにはさすがに遠い。 宿に荷物を預け、夕方これを取りに京都駅から一往復するのに、帰りのバス待ち時間含め1h5minかかりました。帰りのバスはよくぞ載せた、というくらいの混雑ぶり。やはり地下鉄や阪急沿線の方が安心。 価格も、可も無し不可も無し。この条件で、京都の相場、と考えれば高くはないが、お得感はありません。

Comfortable place for a family stay. Room was spacious for Japanese standards. Facilities modern and functional. Fairly close to station and sightseeing landmarks. Quite and clean. It would benefit to have the staff to speak better English though.
