"Arrived a little late but everything was prepared waiting for us. The room was small but well-equipped and clean. The bar staff in the evening were good but closed very much at 11. Breakfast was freshly prepared and hot. The hotel is right in the centre of town so a great base for a wander around."

"The communal areas of this hotel are lovely, friendly and welcoming staff and traditional decor, loved it. There was an issue with the electrics on the top floor when we stayed as the roof was leaking, so there was no lighting in the corridors. Unfortunately the lady who checked us in neglected to mention this. It was fine, these things happen, but a pre-emptive apology would have been better. Our room was on the top floor at the front and looked out over the high street but it was quiet. The decor was dated, but the room was huge, clean and very comfortable. I particularly liked that there was a blanket as well as a duvet as I often find duvets too warm. Breakfast was excellent and the service was great too. This is a huge old building that must be difficult and expensive to maintain, so it wasn't perfect, but the cleanliness and friendliness more than made up for that."
