"Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay here. Very clean and comfortable accommodation and plenty of choices on the breakfast menu. A welcome pot of tea and scone with jam and cream on arrival. Roz and Ian were friendly and very accommodating and made several suggestions of places to eat. I recommend Little Italy, an Italian Pizzeria and takeaway (twice we took Lasagnes and Pizzas back to eat at The Haven) and The Turks Head (where we ate three times)."

No issues gaining access to the property and we had no issues while we were there either Having the option of bed and breakfast was nice as well. The location was perfect for what we needed as we were attending a wedding at Brinkburn priory so it’s only 5 minutes down the road Decent price for the room we had and the breakfast as well"

"Having stayed here before and eating thought we would eat here tonight, unfortunately from ordering first drink ,half a lager and pint and been charged 12.50 when questioned sorry six pounds then ordering food over charged couple quid ,then when been presented food told coutelry over there ie get it yourself,asked for sauce and vinegar told don't have it in this area all in restaurant, as we were in bar area blond waitress who was very rude to my wife . needless to say will not be back."

"I had a lovely large room with a very comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom with great toiletries. There were several extras including a small fridge with fresh milk and cold drinking water & lots of coffees and tea varieties . The breakfast was exceedingly generous and delicious , setting me up for the day . The accommodation is within easy walk to the dunes and the beach or along the river .Although there is no on site parking ,there is plenty nearby . The staff were very friendly and helpful .I will definitely choose to stay there again ."

"We stayed here over the bank holiday in August 2024. I visited with my family to attend my cousin's wedding nearby. It was a lovely experience. The rooms were extremely comfortable, quiet and tidy. The beds were made everyday whilst we were out. Each day the breakfast was delicious. I actually had a birthday whilst I was there and Roz (hotel manager) made me a cake, which was delectable. Thank you to Roz and Iain for your hard work, nothing was ever too much trouble and you were so hospitable, we all really enjoyed our stay and would love to return."

"We had a warm welcome at this beautifully situated riverside pub. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food and drink were excellent and our room was warm, quiet, comfortable and clean. The bar was used by local people as well as visitors from further away. There are lots of lovely walks straight from the hotel, and you can also fish for salmon in their own stretch of the Coquet. Our only very minor complaint was that the basin in our bathroom was a bit slow to drain. We'll certainly hope to visit again."

"Booked as a birthday treat for two nights. Only the twin room was available. Was expensive so thought we were in for something special, but the reality was an extremely tired looking room, with an ancient and mouldy shower, and a soap holder hanging down (how many times must the housekeeping staff have seen this yet not got maintenance to fix it)? Had an air of the staff having lost interest in the accommodation and guests ' experience . Owners need to give this room some serious attention. It was like going back in time and staying at granny's place, with the dated bedroom and neglected and scruffy bathroom. Food in the restaurant was good and we ate there both nights. Shame the standard of the dining experience didn't carry through to the accomodation."

"We spend a wonderful over night weekend stay at The Sun Hotel. We had a warm welcome from a young man who gave us the key to The Secret Room (Room 1). The room was clean, warm and well presented. We ate in the attached pub and were served by the same hotel reception guy. We had a great sleep in a comfortable bed and quiet environment. Breakfast was also enjoyable. A friendly lady took our cooked order and we helped ourself to drinks and cereals. It is an old atmospheric building which we discovered was originally the coach house for Warkworth castle itself. We would be happy to return."
