"I had a very disappointing experience regarding the safety of my room. The lock was not working properly from the inside, and when I reported this to the concierge, he was initially patronising, implying I didn’t understand how a lock works. After I insisted, he came to check and confirmed that the lock was indeed faulty, as I had explained. Despite this, I was told the hotel was fully booked and no alternative room could be offered. Having already spent a night feeling unsafe once I realised the issue, this was quite distressing. Although he reassured me that the room could not be opened from the outside and said “you’ll be fine,” this did not address the discomfort of being unable to secure the door from inside. To make matters worse, I was still charged for a late check-out, despite the inconvenience and lack of resolution. Overall, I expected a much higher standard of service and concern for guest safety."

The prison hotel has a feeling of class and luxury and then a beautiful contradiction that it used to be the home of naughty prisoners - we have nothing negative to say just going home with fond memories and some wonderful pictures!!!!"

We loved the community farm just up the road with a lovely cafe and alpacas among others. Lovely countryside surrounding Dorchester and lovely cycle route to Oxford on the NCR5. "The hotel is superbly located to access restaurants, theatre and pubs. It’s very quiet as there is limited road access for vehicles. The rooms are serviced twice a day so plenty clean towels and freshened up rooms. The staff are very knowledgeable as to where to park a hire car and they’re super helpful. The restaurant served one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in London and they do a great value 2 course menu until 18h30 which helps the budget. I would definitely recommend The Store."

"The talkhouse was a really homely accommodation right outside of Oxford. The room was exactly like the pictures. The staff were incredibly helpful and I must say the showers is probably one of the best I’ve had in the uk. (Proper water pressure,temperature and drainage so I’m not swimming in my own filth). Also have a drink or dinner at the pub, it’s seems to be a popular favourite amongst the locals as well. One thing to note for light sleepers, the rooms are side by side so you might hear your neighbours & it is right by the road so you’ll be able to hear vehicles at busier times."
