Hotel Palermo

Just came back from this hotel all of the staff at this hotel went above and beyond their duty Dominico and Danilo, we’re brilliant and are left responsible to the running of this hotel, the only disappointment was the absence of The manager Salvatore Romano never to be seen comes in at 3:30 and is gone by 9am leaving the staff to deal with unhappy customers who are very unhappy with various states of repair, including tiles and bathroom fittings falling off when are showering and hitting you in the head, the manager if that’s what you call him does not face customers will not speak to customers and does nothing to answer any questions promises you a meal for your group and two seconds after you’ve eaten gets staff to inform you that he will only pay for two of You. The manager is a coward and does not deserve the staff He has, such a coward he will not even talk in the telephone to you. Such a shame as this hotel could be so much more run by Danilo or Dominico! The hotel is a taxi ride away from the centre usually euro 20 there and back which is expensive, pool was great and so was the breakfast

C e uno strano odore appena si entra. E anche nel hall x prendere gli ascensori. La doccia é un po’ mal andata ho fatto fatica a tenere apposto il doccino. Per il resto tutto ok la stanza comoda e funzionale forse un pochino buia . al check out un vostro dipende ci ha fatto pagare la tassa di soggiorno non ostante il mio compagno è residente a Palermo. Bah

La struttura dell’hotel è veramente molto bella e moderna con un bel giardino che la circonda. Stanza bella e pulita, con aria condizionata centralizzata molto efficace, doccia grande e televisione con Sky. Staff disponibile, cordiale, gentile e simpatico!

We just stayed here 4 nights (superior triple room) & the ac worked great! It was individually controlled & got the room very cold to sleep. We were able to get some ice from the bar to bring to the room although note that the bar is NOT open yet (only water or ice). The breakfast is 7-9:45 & they DO lock the door at 9:45,, coffee there is in the machine so it seems possible that you could bring a cup up to your room. 2 things to know: only **1 key per room**so you can not leave your partner. Had I known this, I may have kept looking for another hotel. Also, there is no iron in the building. Great & safe location! Tons around! Coop grocery ~2 blocks & the AP shuttle bus ticket booth(stop is just 2 more blocks) Tip for early overseas arrivals: if you arrive very early before check in, there are 3 sofas in the back of the hotel, past the main lobby & bar, going right towards the breakfast room; when it closes at 9:45, they turn the lights off & there is no foot traffic. I could see waiting/falling asleep here lol after an overnight flight while waiting for “check in”

Albergo ben posizionato anche grazie alla presenza della metropolitana. In ogni caso anche a piedi si arriva al politeama in massimo 20 minuti. Pulizia ottima. Unica pecca per chi lo desiderasse la mancanza di una colazione salata.

We had a good stay at this hotel. Room was large, furniture abit dated and air con. Room also had a fridge. Clean rooms, staff were super friendly. Hotel is 10-15 minutes walk to the historic centre. Breakfast was lovely also. Good value hotel with 24 hour reception. Only downside is the noisy plumbing every time someone uses the loo, the room next to it can hear it.

Been in this location between the 11th and 18th of August . I`ve visited severals hotels in Palermo due to the fact my family lives there, but always stayed in 4 stars and above. So, I was wondering what time was going to be. Wow , I was wrong! Reception : Extremely friendly service at arrival , the girl ( julia, i guess ) was absolutely wonderful on explaining us all the hotel`s facilities and times and showing good care for us. Room : An exquisite room with an AMAZING view , we took the one with balcony, we could see the whole city, fridge freezer full of different drinks, and several bathroom towel . And honestly , I`m very clean freak , and that room was spotless. Facilities: To find an Hotel in palermo with swimming pool wasn`t easy ...but with 3 swimming pools I reckon impossible, in the end of the day Palermo is a city surrounded by beaches so , not many are really keen on stay at the pool, but because of the location of the Hotel , those pool were the best, expecially the one that look at the city, fantastic. Restaurant : If you wondering where to eat , you have 2 choices , or going around in Palermo with the crazy traffic and been ripped off by a turistic restaurant or... enjoy an amazing service and the restorant ( i capricci di Cristian ) at the 5th floor of the hotel. OMG! the pizza was perfection. The pasta dishes pure art, and the desserts so delicate. I almost had dinner everyday in there, obviously a la cart...and even reasonable prices. The service was spot on, restaurant was full but 2 waiters managed to run it smoothly. Breakfast included : I`m italian by blood , so I didn`t mind croissant in the morning , but my partner is english , so he could choose a nice savoury breakfast with parma ham , salami etc...drinks were included too, which I was expecting it...and even if you see the orange juice coming from a machine , was actually quiet nice. Location: I knew what I was going to get , the hotel is far from the city and a taxi can be quiet pricy from there ....but ....surprise ....they have a transport service from the hotel to city center and back to the hotel, just following their timelines but 14euros p/p with return , I thought was a bargain , a taxi would had cost us about 80 euros (not joking). I had the chance to congratulate the Hotel Director , a very nice man that walks around doing basically anything he can do to make that place even better, I saw him cleaning , I saw him serving at the kiosko near the pools, telling people off from the glass that face the pool ( obviously for not respecting the rules ) this guy is amazing I must say. Conclusion : 3 Stars ? MMMmmmhhh I`m not sure, I`ve been in many 4 stars in Palermo and they were absolutely horrible . This structure deserve more than 3 stars, I truly reccomend it , and we will definitely come back. Thanks to the staff and management .

Stayed here for 7-nights with my mum. The hotel is centrally based with easy access to everything. Walking distance to the cathedral and to the harbour where we found a lovely beach bar. So many restaurants within east walking distance serving Sicilian delights. All of the staff are amazing - very helpful, courteous and lovely. Giuseppe was particularly wonderful and extremely helpful. The rooms are basic, but you aren’t paying the price of a 5-star hotel - the beds are comfortable and the rooms are cleaned and replenished everyday. Everything you need for a base and a good nights sleep. The continental breakfast has a great choice and is very filling. The young waitress is attentive and polite. Perfect base for exploring the wonderful city of Palermo.

This is a hotel frequently booked by tour groups because of its location within walking distance of all the sites in the old town. Rooms were fine. Breakfast was very unimaginative and frankly disappointing.....self serve coffee machines with powdered milk and undrinkable coffee, plastic cups for cordial fruit juice and nothing fresh- tinned apricots and prunes with cereal some cooked hot food. Pastries were good as they are throughout Sicily. Large plastic bottles of cold water were available. On both mornings I was there I was told off by an officious waitress for filling my personal water bottle from them. Why is it offered then? I can have as many glasses of water in plastic cups as I like for breakfast but can't fill my water bottle....why? Is it a move to get you to buy bottle water at 2 Euros a pop......it is clearly not to save the planet of plastic.....it is surely not a way to show hospitality to your guests. Drinking water from taps is not always safe in Sicily. Treating your guests like naughty children on a school camp does not make you a 4 star establishment. This waitress offered no Buongiorno.....just snarky abuse in Italian....she is clearly going for Employee of the Month in this lacklustre hotel experience.

I travelled to Palermo from NY for a long weekend with the sole purpose to surprise my daughter (she is studying in Palermo) for her 20th birthday. I selected Hotel Plaza Opera for proximity to her but I discovered so much more! Hotel Plaza Opera is in the perfect location! Shopping, restaurants, gardens, piazzas - safe, easy city navigation and an oasis upon return to my room. The hotel has a quite welcoming lobby, a view filled rooftop lounge for breakfast and evening cocktail/meal, and minimalist aesthetically pleasing rooms with modern conveniences. The AC was exceptional as was the soaking tub in my suite. The staff were warm, knowledgeable and ready to assist before and during my stay. The suggested tour company(JustSicily) was wonderful as were the pre-planned airport transfers (highly recommend this!). I look forward to my next stay at Hotel Plaza Opera!!
